Re-installing a game, Enigma: Rising Tide I receive this error message. This happened one time before. I don't recall how I was able to overcome, but presently I had to re-install the game and now I have this error message again. I understand that there have been other instances with others installing games where this message appears.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a 250GB Hard Drive and I used Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Tools 11 Tools to allow Windows to recognize all 250GB and break the 24-bit barrier. When I install Windows XP Pro, it goes through the format and the file setup fine (as far as I know) and then when it goes to boot, it goes right back into the Setup Config...it doesn't go on to install Windows. When the disk is taken out it just continually restarts and claims that there is an invalid BOOT.INI.

Need some new eyes on this one...Only changes to computer recently were the addition of the new BattleField 2 demo, which really seemed to slow the system down.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI went to play Half-Life 2 last night, just as I do any other time. It informed me that there was an upgrade for my ATI Radeon 9550 video card and wouldn't let me proceed without it. Really wanting to play, I went and installed the update. After rebooting after the update, I noticed something. Some applications (i.e. Skype, MSN, etc.) weren't working properly. Then, I started getting random shutdowns.
I was able to boot into Safe Mode and do a System Restore back to before I installed the new driver. This did not solve the problem. So I called ATI, and they instructed me to uninstall the ATI Drivers and reinstall it without Catalyst. So I did, and it worked... For about an hour. My computer then rebooted and now refuses to boot, safe mode, debug mode, normal or otherwise.
I was recently trying to install Medieval Total War II onto my computer. I've had it installed before in the past, and it worked fine on my computer. I wanted to play it again, so when I went to install it it gave me the blue screen. I have re-installed windows and tried installing sp2 from CD, and tried the downlooad from the microsoft website, both with the same result.
This error message keeps coming up, and tends to slow the operation down, I searched the posts and found one w/out a reply or a fix for this.

I can read files on a storage disk in the drive, but any install disk brings up "InstallShield Setup Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have done the following with no effect: - Run Windows Install cleanup - Downloaded and installed Windows Installer 4.5 - Made sure the Installer Service is set to Automatic - Scanned with AVG, Superantispyware, Spybot, and Advanced System Optimizer - Unregistered, then registered the Windows Installer Service - Made sure all Windows updates are updated This may provide a clue, however, if it's related. When i play the online game Shattered Galaxy I recieve the blue screen which the computer either freezes or restarts. Also fire fox just recieved a random error when i was posting this but that is another story. I have updated the video drivers. When I have the disc in, it loads to the blue install screen without asking me to press a key to boot from cd, I choose to install, partition the drive and format. It copies the files and then restarts, but when it loads again it still doesn't ask for me to press a key (which you aren't supposed to press the second time), and it loads back to the first menu, where I can start all over again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMan, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?

Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.

i had XP 2008 virus/spyware, which I think I managed to get rid of with Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and System Mechanic 7. Now I have a new problem. I can't get anywhere into Windows, I've done F2, F8, F12, everything I could think of without risking more damage. I've booted from the system mechanic CD with the Hard Drive recovery, and while it said it found and fixed a problem, it didn't fix this one.
When I'm trying to start up Windows XP Home Edition I receive an error box without an error message, I can just click YES or NO. Neither option let's me continue. When starting up in Safe Mode, everything works fine.

When I close the box, i lose my desktop, and can't run a bunch of programs, including the "run" option. I am able to run my browsers and get on the web. I did do a system restore, and it worked at first, but then on the next reboot, i got the error message again. Did another system restore, same thing.

I am now re-installing my various applications,and have installed Win XP Fax using the same procedure as I used last November (Faxing in Windows XP by Sharon Crawford). Everything seemed to go OK, but when I try to send a fax I get an error message on the Fax Monitor: 'Fax device error'.
