I read alot of manga that I download from online. Now after extracting it from a .rar file I try to open it to read it. Explorer.exe crashes and gives me and error message.
View 3 RepliesI have had a long long running windows explorer issue in which i get very frequent crashes of windows explorer when doing any of the following... opening folders, copying files, opening trash, empty trash, search, multiple tasks of any kind with folders - all cause a system freeze which can only be resolved by ending the explorer.exe task and then running a fresh explorer.exe.Can i re-install explorer and its components to ensure its stability ? also should windows explorer be rock solid ? Maybe this is a windows pro issue ?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have got winXp sp-2 i have got to open hidden files when i go to view and click "show all files" i am unable to view the hidden files again when i go to view folder options and click "show hidden files and folders" after saying apply again it the tickmark goes to "donot show hidden files and folder".
View 3 Replies View Relatedrecently I was messing around with my folder options and i came along the file types in the folders options, as you can see there are many registered file types below, anyway on that list I went along to "File Folders" and I was messing around with it, then i went to the advanced menu and see commands there for stuff...I touched something and now i cant get my folders opening normal.
View 3 Replies View Relatedevery time i try to open anything that uses these programs i get a 'windows/internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close' crash i think i have a virus in my processes i have 2 strange ones one is n6tgoxae.exe the other is 86851316.exe norton fixes this is for a short while but then the problem soon returns i have also tried spybot search and destroy as well as running AdAware can anyone help me on how to fix my explorer problems and gettin rid of
these processes?
My Windows Explorer keeps on crashing when ever I do right click in windows explorer.The error shown in the Event Viewer(Application Log) is as follows

Well as the title reads my windows explorer for my sony vaio (running xp) is crashing within 10 seconds after i start using it.I force quit, it reloads then crashes again.I'm sure its not a virus and just today i reinstalled the OS core files (recovery install).I don't get whats up.It crashes in safe mode and normal mode as well.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had a problem crop up yesterday in which a folder in my documents (my documents few folder to be exact) has consistently started crashing explorer whenever I even go near the folder.If I go in to it, right click on it or even put my mouse on it explorer will crash, it has clips and pictures in it, mostly game or movie trailers, or little movie clips. If the problem cant get sorted out I would prefer the folder to be deleted.Ive asked at other places, and have seen someone else ask the same question (albeit without a resolutions) here so I'm not walking in blind.I've tried various programs including unlocker, killbox, moveonboot which all crash when attempting to delete.Spyware and virus programs crash when scanning the folder.

Every time when i enable explorer.exe (via the run command in the Task Manager), the same thing occurs, five seconds working, after that it disappears. By the way, i am running Windows XP.Now, i am afraid a virus is on this computer, but sadly i cannot open BitDefender, since it is "expired" and i don't know what else to do.

I checked the graph in the performance window (Ctrl+Alt+Del) but there was no suddeny increase of CPU usage. Others folder is normal, I double click and it show nicely. Just for certain folder. Is it because of the number of files in the folder? It dont happen when I open my C: drive but if i open that particular folder. The windows explorer just stop responding.. and i had to wait for it to come out. If i access a folder under it and hit back or up, again it will stuck there again n wait for it to load.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Dimension XPS with 250GB hard drive (about 80GB free), 2GB RAM, a Maxtor 300GB USB external hard drive, and an HP Scanjet 5590. Ever since I installed the Maxtor drive and the HP scanner, the respective folders in "C:Program Files" open on the desktop every time I startup Windows. I find this annoying. Under File Explorer folder options view dialog box, I tried unchecking "Restore previous folder windows at logon," which did not help. I looked in my startup folder, but there is no shortcut to these folders there. I checked the registry under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" but I cannot seem to find a reference to these folders relating to startup. Perhaps I missed something. Should I be looking elsewhere (in the registry or somewhere else)?

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

Unfortunately, it often freezes Dr. Watson with it, and my PC becomes unresponsive until I enter the Task Manager and kill both instances of Dr. Watson that is showing. View 48 Replies View RelatedSometimes it won't start in the first place - when I go to Windows Task Manager it states NOT RESPONDING and I have to end task (which often doesn't work immediately). Other times it can work fine then just freezes and won't do anything. When I have chosen to end task (using Task Manager) I have sometimes had messages saying things aren't responding. These flick up then disappear very quickly. Two that I've managed to read are DDEserver and ccSvcHst.This hasn't starting happening in conjuction with anything else I've done with the PC.

This only happens if I click on a folder in the right pane of Windows Explorer. Clicking on a folder in the left pane opens the folder in the right pane, as it should.I have the same problem with any shortcuts to folders on my Desktop. Instead of opening the folder, it opens a commnad prompt with the path to the folder.I know this has something to do with the File Types tab.If you click Tools, Folder Options, in Windows Explorer. View 8 Replies View RelatedIntel Core 2 duo, E8500 3.16, 4 gb RAM. Running XP sp3 I am pretty sure that I am not lacking in power. However, I am REALLY SLOW, when opening folders, and going back and forth using the back and forth buttons in XP. I click, I get an hour glass for a seconds then it initiates. I have cleared out my Prefetch folder, changed a few registry settings, yada yada. I just cant figure it out. This is a fairly new install, just did a zero fill on my HD about a month ago.

Why won't they be in List? I uploaded a 2 screens First one of how one of how everyother folder looks like the Second My Computer looks like when clicking on My Computer.Now after setting the option in My computer for view clicking tools>folder options>view tab>apply to all folders. The folder view only changes for My Computer all other folders remain unchanged.

If I then cancel the installation, the desired window opens up and I can navigate up and down as normally - it only happens on the initial double-click to open the folder. The only thing I've been doing recently that might have changed settings and prompted this was in attempting (without success) to set up a home network. I've run a full AVG virus scan without results.

Noticed that IE was extremely slow and crashing constantly and task manager actually had 2 'Run32dll.exe' programs running and hogging up 100% cpu usage. I just did a Hijack this scan based on what I read from previous posts but I am not sure where to take it from here. I also noticed that something called 'SurfBuddy' is in there and have no idea where that came from. So if anyone can take a look at this Hijack This log and let me know what I should check off to be fixed that would be great. As you can see there are 4 run32dll.exe

More specifically, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Norton, and HP Precisionscan Pro 3.1 (to name a few) are causing us grief.Outlook will load, but as soon as you try and view a new message, the program crashes.Internet Explorer will open, but immediately closes before any page can load. (I've installed Firefox in the meantime, so I'm sure it's not the internet connection).
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open one of My Folders (One that I added to my desktop with application I added to it) with a double left click a search results window opens instead of the folder opening and displaying the contents of the folder with things I've put into it. If I right click on one of my folders and go down and left click on open the folder will open and the contents displayed as I expect (The first opetion displayed is a search after I right click). Any other folder including My Documnets folder will open the folder and display the contents correctly.At one time it used to work correcly and its not a major issue but I would sure like it fixed > Any ideas?
