Cannot Install / Error: Action Failed For Registry Value
Feb 4, 2006Hello, I have a computer that I built by myself but I have always had a problem installing programs due to registry problems. A prime example of this is when I tried to install AVG Free antivirus.

RPC Service Not Starting
Dec 7, 2005Have a XP Home PC here, and a number of services are not starting including the RPC service. Saw on an earlier thread this may be related to the DCOM service, but this won't start either.Have run a Hijack this log and there's nothing to report there, system restore doen't work because it's one of the many auto start services that don't start along with windows installer. The link below shows a conversation with a guy who has the same problem as me only he had to rsolve his via a re-install. Don't mind doing this if that's what's needed, just would love to be able to fix it!

Aug 25, 2005I didn't want sp2, but my computer decided to install it for me anyway when it did the last automatic updates two days ago. When it told me to restart the computer, I did, and now it will not start. It goes into a boot loop and just goes on and off and on and off. I called Microsoft and they cannot help me, because I do not have an official XP disk, it came installed on my computer (Systemax). If I had a disk they said it would be easy. They told me to call Systemax. I did, but I have had the computer longer than a year, so the free tech support is over and now it is $40/half hour to get help.

Video Card Post Error, USB Overcurrent Error, Possible Failed Mobo
Aug 3, 2007i had was my motherboard cpu fan not working in its cpu fan pin, so instead i have it hooked up to a case fan pin. I am not sure if this means i have a faulty mobo or not.
I installed my brand new Creative sound card, I installed its software and drivers all fine and the PC restarted fine. Next creative wanted to update the drivers and I let it. After it was done installling the new drivers it needed a restart. On restart I could not even get to the post screen and was displayed with an error saying USB over current, PC shutdown in 20 seconds. At first i could not get past this error at all, so i tried taking out the sound card and putting inserting it again. I did not get the USB error now and was happy.
I played Battlefield 2142 for a few hours then shut it down. Now today when i get home from work and turn it on i saw that USB over current error again and got frusterated. After taking the sound card out and putting it back in I had some new problems. I only saw my Asus Splash screen saying "press delete to enter setup" although pressing delete did nothing, it just hung on that screen.
Computer Looks For This File When Starting Up
Aug 1, 2005I had a virus on a file so I deleted it. Now when my computer starts up it keeps looking for the file. I just click "ok" and my computer works fine, but its just annoying that the message loads and my computer won't completely start up till I hit ok. Here is the message:
"Drive or network connection that the shortcut "autostart.ir.lnk" refers to is unavaliable. Make sure the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is avaliable and try again"

i'v tried all the F8 startup obptions like safemode and last known good config etc, i made sure all the hardware was securely plugged in and had no dust in it, i made a DOS boot disk and tried to run scandisk but it seems it wont access anything on C and only scans A... I dont have a windows 2000 pro disk at the moment.
