Computer Got Stuck Dont Know The Command To Run
Mar 18, 2007
Daughter has Windows XP and her friend has a user ID on the computer. She said she was trying to fix the Administrator account so that when she saved files they wouldn't be on all user names. So I'm not exactly sure what she did, and she's 15 so of course she can't remember, but the thing won't exactly run. I can get into that safety boot mode but don't know what to do after that tried starting in safe mode and all that, but it just gets stuck. One user ID (the original administrator one) will appear as if Windows is going to start but it never does.I bought it at a pawn shop, so of course there are no restoration disks. I'm thinking it can't be anything too difficult, I just don't know the command to run.

On my comp, I could not reboot. Anyway I went(boot in safe mode,Last known...) the comp would just reboot and not go into Windows. I took the System diskl that came with it originally(2 years ago) and rep0aired the windows with the repair option instead of reinstalling windows completely. It worked fine, but i found windows to be XP service pack 1. I now updated service pack 1 completely and then updated to service Pack 2. Heres the prioblem. When Installing SP2 i kept getting Application errors for numerous Application stated below. On anyone of the Applications, the message was: instruction @ "ox5a00671a" referenced memory @ "oxff3fb084". The memory can not be "read".

I have been having problems with restarting my Windows XP home media center. I was trying to install a second monitor to my desktop and decided to disable my NVIDIA GEFORCE 7300LE and also think I changed the video/ monitor settings to auto somewhere in the device manager. Ever since I did that my computer won't reboot past the dell and windows logos. I have the dimension E510.
The thing is that this version of the xp didn't come with an installation disk for me to reboot the sequence so it keeps asking me for a diskette. I can't even go into safe mode only the f2 setup. PLEASE help me! I really don't want to lose my files.

Is there a way to abort the windows installation? If I could get back to windows I could figure out the Product key. When I turn on the computer it just goes to the installation section where it asks for the product key.

I recently stripped the cord running from my USB mouse to the computer on accident, so until i get a new mouse I use the keyboard only for now. I was attempting to switch users by hitting the windows key and going to switch users, when I accidentally hit Hibernate. The computer went into hibernation and NOTHING I do will bring it out, the fan is still running, the monitor shuts itself off and will not show anything when I reboot the computer or try anything else. Ive tried many ways to restart the computer and bring it back out but I've had no luck, as of right now I'm using my parents computer until I can get my own running again.

I recently got a new PC that I built up myself, and I could run it perfectly until I was going to start XP for the first time. After that it was finished installing Windows XP Professional, it rebooted and I got this XP loading screen. Now is the problem, it's stuck there forever with this loading thing moving and moving in an endless loop. What could be the problem? I hope it's nothing hardware related as they are all new.

Today I turned on my computer and Windows won't load. It just stops at the loading screen (the one with the Windows logo and blue loading bar). The bar just stops moving.I can load Windows in Safe Mode, and I tried scanning for viruses (0) and spyware (5) - but it didn't help.I didn't install anything new and haven't changed any setting. The only thing is that I turned my computer on while there was a CD in the drive. I took it out but it didn't help.

I had a power supply die out of nowhere on me about a month ago. Last night I replaced it, and when starting up my computer I was given the option to boot windows normally, in safe mode, or in my last known configuration. Any of these options take me to the black screen with the windows logo and the blue loading bar, as usual. However, I am stuck at this screen. I've never encountered this, what do you think could be the problem?

I read somewhere in this forum that if you had a CD Key stuck on your computer you could install the Windows XP CD of your choice. What I mean to say is this: I have an HP Compaq computer that came with the Windows XP OEM bundled version and its own product Key stuck to the computer. So after the 90 day support with HP, I got rid of all the crapola that comes with their bundle, (AOL, Disney Channel, Silly things, etc.) and reformatted with a copy of Windows XP OEM, using the Product Key on the computer. NO Problem. I have done this several times before and only had one problem, which was resolved through phoning Microsoft Activation Center.

I tried chkdsk /r I couldnt get /f to work by itself Last know configure didnt work I foolishly tried this LINK Then I read in another forum that it could be a bad driver. I do recall when I was able to get in safe mode an error for my printer came up so I want to get in safe mode and try to uninstall it. but now safe mode won't work and after doing that part in the link its says I have 2 O/s to choose from?

Installed SP3 today. The install seemed to go fine.Restarted the computer, now I am stuck in a boot loop computer starts, goes to the We apologies page.None of the load options work, computer simply shuts down and goes back to the same page. Since this computer was a Vista-ready computer, but I ordered it with Win XP Pro,I don't have the OEM Win XP Pro CD.Therefore, can't do a chkdsk.

I think my PC is infected with a virus. It is stuck in a continuous startup loop.I get an error message stating:SAS Window: winlogon.exe - Application Error I'm given an option to enter to terminate the program or cancel to debug. Either option restarts the system again. It won't work in safe mode or any thing else.

I would like to know if this can be done in win xp environment. say I have a folder, A, of pictures only and they all have file extensions jpg eg abc.jpg, xyz.jpg. say I have a second folder, B, which contains all the files of A(if you ignore extensions) and more(but all are pictures.) But all the files in B has extensions NEF instead of jpg eg abc.NEF, efg.NEF, xyz.NEF. My idea is to extract all the files from B that has the same the name as A(ignoring extensions) and either move or copy to a separate folder ie if A contains abc.jpg, xyz.jpg then abc.NEF and xyz.NEF will be extracted and moved/copied to a new folder. I'm not sure where to start. is there a program out there that can do this? or there's a special command to type at the command prompt?

Previously I have been doing work that requires me to unplug my network connection and I need to check my IP address each time I plug it in again. I guess it's not set for static IP.Anyways to do this I usually go into Command Prompt and type 'ipconfig'Now however I just get "'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".The directory is the same as its always been, I can change it but it doesn't seem to matter what it is.I've checked many other posts and is there something possibly wrong with my PATH variable? I used the command 'echo %PATH%' and it works, the list it gives is very garbled however.

I'm using a small apache server on a local network for a wiki, and I integrate php functions mixed with windows system calls as well.
I'd like to be able to output to a .txt file a search result of *.something on all the available network machines.
I can do the search with the exploer 'Find' function, although its speed is ridiculously slow. However, I can't seem to be able to find an equivalent function in DOS. (DIR is only applicable on one's own machine

It just goes black. The hard drive will run continually as if it's searching for the rest of the information, but can't find it.

I have a fast ADSL connection and a Windows XP Professional (version 2002) OS on my desktop PC. Due to a virus I caught I had to format the windows partition and reinstall all the drivers and stuff. Everything seems to work fine except for the internet. It's not that I don't have any connection but it is extremely slow, I cannot connect at all to some specific sites (such as www.blue-whitegt.com) and after a while it's completely lost. I tried updating all the drivers of my hardware, I installed the windows service pack 3, I intalled the newest java console, I checked my rooter settings (which of course are the same as they were before the format), I even turned windows firewall completely off

I've been have been reading around about windows xp x64 and i've picked up that a large amount of software will not run under windows x64. We have some windows xp 32bit disks but should we go for x64?
