I turned on my computer today, of course to be stuck with a blue screen of death.I'm getting the error:I have google'd this error, but I only get the first and second sets of error codes to match. No one seems to have the third set [0x823AA138] and after. No idea what to do.I have tried repairing but it kept saying X file is missing do you want to skip? I did this for many files before I got another blue screen.

Yesterday, I acquired the "istsvc" spyware, and could not get rid of it. I ran an anti-spyware program, and it said it would run again when I restarted my computer to finish the job. I restarted my computer, and it never finished booting. It goes to the black screen with the Windows logo and the blue scrolling line just fine. Then it goes to the light blue screen with the dark blue borders and the words Microsoft Windows XP in the middle, and just stops. I know it is not frozen because there is a mouse pointer on-screen that I can still move. It stops at this same point no matter what mode I try to load in. I am using XP Home SP2.

I have a dell Pentium 4 with XP service pack 2 installed, that has suddenly stopped booting. All I am getting is a blue screen with the stop error 0x00000024, which I believe means the ntfs file may be corrupted. I cannot do anything in safe mode or last known good or any other choices that might be available. Every time I try to do anything I get the blue screen immediately. The biggest problem seems to be that I cannot boot from the windows CD either. I don't know why, it just goes right by it. I have tried moving it up in the boot order in the bios but it made no difference. Is there anything else I can do to get that CD to boot or find a way to access it? Right now I seem to have no way to repair this problem.

I opened up my computer today and I got a blue screen that flashed and restarted immediately. Then I decided to install Windows again then I got this message:A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to yur computer. If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drives. run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.

My brother's computer froze so the only way i knew to turn it off was to uplug the power.. I did that and ever since then i cannot get the computer to boot up all the way it just gets stuck on the xp loading screen.. Ive tried starting in safe mode, normal mode, and "last know configuration that worked" mode.. When i boot from my boot disk i get into the window's console, i try and choose the repair option, when it lets me do this it asks for a "administrator password", i dont remeber using one when i installed windows. I know the "quick" fix is to do a complete reformat and install, but my brother has alot of work files that he does not want to loose. This is my brother's computer, i always make a backup disk of my files for this reason.. but he didnt so im stuck betweena rock and a hard place.

I tried to reformat from the XP CD and from a boot disc floppy. Each time the process gets stuck at: Windows Setup. There is nothing else on the blue screen. It won't go past there to the agreement section...or anything else This system was a custom built computer, given to my mother-in-law about 3 years ago. The company has since gone out of business. It was built w/ XP Professional SP1 and has since been upgraded w/ SP2.Outlook express stopped working properly and would shut itself down as soon as it was opened. Then the dial-up connection would connect but no internet explorer pages would load.

Trying to start my computer and it gets to the screen where it gives me 2 seconds to press F11 to start recovery. But after 2 seconds or pressing F11 or any key, another line appears saying the same thing "Press F11 to start recovery". Can't get past this point and start Windows. HD is recognized in another computer as well as in BIOS.

Installed SP3 today. The install seemed to go fine.Restarted the computer, now I am stuck in a boot loop computer starts, goes to the We apologies page.None of the load options work, computer simply shuts down and goes back to the same page. Since this computer was a Vista-ready computer, but I ordered it with Win XP Pro,I don't have the OEM Win XP Pro CD.Therefore, can't do a chkdsk.

When I turn on my computer, everything seems to be going fine... the manufacturer's screen comes up, then the screen that shows Windows is loading, then it kindof gets stuck between the loading screen and the welcome screen. It just goes black. The hard drive will run continually as if it's searching for the rest of the information, but can't find it.

My main pc is stuck in a boot cycle giving me the black screen with options to start in safe mode etc etc and when selecting one of those options it reboots to the same point. When I press return the system tries to start it attempts it, clicks then goes back to boot cycle. The Windows XP system disk won't cut in like it should so I cannot gain control of the pc.
System is a Dell, 2years old and has had various viruses despite having the usual protection. I am currently using my old trusty Advent Pentium 3 for this message (which has never had the same degree of virus prob's curiously). After the first virus Dell talked me through using Ghost - brilliant. Within a couple of days it was hit again and usinng Spybot got rid of the virus but PC kept displaying the message rundll.dll file damaged. So I used XP Recovery seemingly with no problem only to find it won't reboot.

I recently got a new PC that I built up myself, and I could run it perfectly until I was going to start XP for the first time. After that it was finished installing Windows XP Professional, it rebooted and I got this XP loading screen. Now is the problem, it's stuck there forever with this loading thing moving and moving in an endless loop. What could be the problem? I hope it's nothing hardware related as they are all new.

Today I turned on my computer and Windows won't load. It just stops at the loading screen (the one with the Windows logo and blue loading bar). The bar just stops moving.I can load Windows in Safe Mode, and I tried scanning for viruses (0) and spyware (5) - but it didn't help.I didn't install anything new and haven't changed any setting. The only thing is that I turned my computer on while there was a CD in the drive. I took it out but it didn't help.

I had a power supply die out of nowhere on me about a month ago. Last night I replaced it, and when starting up my computer I was given the option to boot windows normally, in safe mode, or in my last known configuration. Any of these options take me to the black screen with the windows logo and the blue loading bar, as usual. However, I am stuck at this screen. I've never encountered this, what do you think could be the problem?

when I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
Any ideas?

When i turn on,first Windows screen appears, then a blue screen blinks, then hp screen, then a blank page with cursor on the top left, then a screen with the message"we apologise for the inconvinience but Windows did not start successfully.there was a hardware or software problem.I tried to run it in Safe mode, Windows normally, last known configuration but no luck......Then someone suggested to Get into the Recovery Console by making a Recovery CD with ISO image but the machine is not responding to any of it.Is it with CD/DVD ROM drive or any major hardware problem???...I ran a self hard drive test and it seemed fine

Encountered a Blue Screen of Death error. The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

I have quite a complicated problem. It started when my house lost power and my PC consequently powered down. Since then, whenever I start the machine, its reboots instead of showing the Windows (XP) login screen. I tried booting to Safe Mode or a command prompt with the same results. I ran a memory checker which found nothing. I ran CHKDSK (from the recovery console off the XP CD) and still experienced the same rebooting problems. I then tried to do a repair install of XP. The installation was going smoothly until I started getting errors saying Setup cannot copy file with multiple .dll and .xsl files unalble to copy. Presented with the option to browse for the files myself, I did and found them right there on the disc in the proper folder, but they still would not copy. I even was able to run a virus scan from within the browse window of the installation (thanks to the Scan with VirusScan option McAffee embeds in the right-click menu) and still came up with nothing. So, needless to say, XP did not install because the files would not copy.
But wait, theres more. Now with an incomplete copy if XP on my HD I consistently get the Blue Screen of Death upon booting to the hard drive. This made sense to me because I had an incomplete copy of Windows I was trying to boot to. But then I tried to boot to my XP disc and I still got the blue screen. I was able to get into the recovery console, but it froze after I entered the admin password. If I tried to do a repair install, it froze upon my selection of that option.

When i turn on my computer I get the windows splash screen, then a blue screen that says Please Wait, followed by dots. The Windows logo is in the top right corner. Windows stays at this screen for a few minutes, then it goes to the log in screen. I believe that during the Please wait screen Windows is running chkdsk. Does anyone know how to turn this off? I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

I just started my Dell the other day and as the subject says, it didn't boot and went to a blue screen which said something along the lines of.it gave me options to start in Safe mode and a few others or to start at the last point where everything was ok. I choose this option and windows started without a hitch and I didn;t notice anything out of place or missing. I've done a few restarts since then and nothing out of the ordinary has happened since.BUT, then today I was loading some more programs on my recently formatted laptop. One of them being Perfect Disk 8 (trial) and WinPatrol alerted me to the startup entries. One of them being PDEngine, the other PDAgent. I'm assuming Perfect Disk caused this error on the Dell. Anyone have any Idea as to what may have happened. now I'm afraid to use the program on either comp.
