Trying to start my computer and it gets to the screen where it gives me 2 seconds to press F11 to start recovery. But after 2 seconds or pressing F11 or any key, another line appears saying the same thing "Press F11 to start recovery". Can't get past this point and start Windows. HD is recognized in another computer as well as in BIOS.
View 5 RepliesMy main pc is stuck in a boot cycle giving me the black screen with options to start in safe mode etc etc and when selecting one of those options it reboots to the same point. When I press return the system tries to start it attempts it, clicks then goes back to boot cycle. The Windows XP system disk won't cut in like it should so I cannot gain control of the pc.
System is a Dell, 2years old and has had various viruses despite having the usual protection. I am currently using my old trusty Advent Pentium 3 for this message (which has never had the same degree of virus prob's curiously). After the first virus Dell talked me through using Ghost - brilliant. Within a couple of days it was hit again and usinng Spybot got rid of the virus but PC kept displaying the message rundll.dll file damaged. So I used XP Recovery seemingly with no problem only to find it won't reboot.
I'm using a pentium3, micronpc. I'm running on xp pro. press alt+Ctrl+Del for the pc to continue start-up. I've already gone into the BIOS settings and changed the boot sequence around but it's still not conrected the problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI started up my system today and on the windows splash screen (the page on start up that shoes the WINXP logo and the blue scrolling bar below) The blue scrolling bar was stuck in one place and stayed there for a good 2 hours so I restarted and was greeted by the infamous ?Disk boot failure, Insert a system disk and press enter?. So I turned off my system and took the side of the case of and disconnected the SATA cable from the hard drive and then the power cable from the hard drive as well, connected them back up powered the system back up and I am now back on the windows splash screen. With the scrolling blue bar below the WINXP logo stopping and starting randomly now and again. I am going to leave it for 2 hours see if it recovers its self, anyone got any ideas if this does not work what to do? I have my windows XP disk and serial number so I guess its fresh install? Still what could have caused this as it?s happened twice now!!!! Could it be the SATA drivers I have all the driver installed by a shop do I need to install SATA driver for the HD or not could the drive be faulty?

View 6 Replies View Relatedhow to boot from CD on a Travel mate 2410 so I can install a fresh copy of Win XP, the problem is Ive changed / unchecked some of the start up settings in MS Config, re-booted and now the laptop loads with missing files such as: winlogon, dlls missing etc, then re-sets, Ive tried safemode but still show missing start-up files, F2 for (Phoenix Recovery Bios Utility) but dont know the password, tried comos, phoenix, 000000 and bios as the password but with no luck.

I did that and ever since then i cannot get the computer to boot up all the way it just gets stuck on the xp loading screen.. Ive tried starting in safe mode, normal mode, and "last know configuration that worked" mode.. When i boot from my boot disk i get into the window's console, i try and choose the repair option, when it lets me do this it asks for a "administrator password", i dont remeber using one when i installed windows. I know the "quick" fix is to do a complete reformat and install, but my brother has alot of work files that he does not want to loose. This is my brother's computer, i always make a backup disk of my files for this reason.. but he didnt so im stuck betweena rock and a hard place.

Everything seemed to go fine until she switched the machine on the next day, when it failed during the boot. She's reasonably tech competent so by the time she called me she'd tried all the safe mode options with no luck: it would get up to mup.sys in the boot and then reset. I did try to access the HP Recovery software, but it just comes up with a pale blue blank screen and a windows-style pointer and stops there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI hit the power button and I get the blue screen with the Dell logo and then the black screen that says, "Initializing Intel (R) Booting Agent..." in white text at the top. (All normal). Right after that, it goes to an error page with the text, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware of software change might have caused this" and so on and so forth. To my knowledge, there have been no recent hardware or software changes. My options from there are as follows:
- Safe Mode
- Safe Mode with Networking
- Safe Mode with Command Prompt
- Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
- Start Windows Normalliy
I am unable to start in any of the modes offered to me. The excuse given for all of this inconvenience is that, "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM. You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to repair.".......
It seems quite severe and I have no idea where to start.When power on my laptop, the screen comes up as usual asking me if i want to enter bios. the next thing i see on the screen, is it checking the cd drive for a boot device, at which point (if there is no cd in there) the laptop automatically restarts. I tried using the windows xp setup cd to boot, but that wont help, I dont want to delete everything on my laptop as all my work is on there! Ive tried using another boot cd (ultimate boot cd) but thats way to complicated, i dont know which utility to choose.I also dont have a floppy drive on my laptop, and im running winxp home edition.
View 4 Replies View Relatedfirst i get the HP blue screen. I tried F1, but i dont see my hard drive in the boot menu. I followed some steps in Hp's web site- took the cpu apart and unplugged both hard drives from the motherboard, plugged them back in. when i restarted ,i got the HP screen and then windows started to load up. After a few seconds the HP screen came back up and then the black screen: sk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I also noticed that pressing F10 for system recovery does nothing.

Now i can't boot it up - as soon as it gets to the loading up windows part the deaded blue screen appears but only for a split second and then laptop restarts. This is very worrying. I use a developer program to make executables (hobby of mine saves me going troppo) called Clarion, it works OK, I made a DOSable program with it, it works OK.
Once I could open to full size DOS screen by pressing the Alt+Enter keys and it would stay open until I was finished with it, then I could revert back to a small screen by pressing Alt+Enter keys again.
Now if I press Alt+Enter keys the DOS screen appears, but it stays open in full screen for a couple of seconds then automatically closes back to the usual small screen.
I have tried right clicking on the icon, properties, screen and putting a dot in the full size option, but this does not work.
I have scanned my PC for viruses etc but no joy there.
I have Dialup only, so don't ask me to do a Panda or Trend scan as they drop you if you no got broadband.
I'm using XP pro, 512meg ram, using a Gigabyte MB, and Nivida video card.
XP working OK-dokie, sound ok-dokie, video ok-dokie, screen to DOS wonkie.
how to fix this?
A laptop that i have is stuck in "preparing to standby", and it has a battery attached so pulling the plug wont work and pressing the power button isnt helping either.

I have searched for some weeks now and have seen an increase in people who also found that while viewing in the Full Screen option on You Tube and/or Hulu.com that the "Press Esc to Exit Full Screen" message that appears in the center of the screen does Not fade away after a few seconds. Of course that makes Full Screen viewing unacceptable. I posed the question to the site itself and have never received a reply. One general forum said something about Unlocking certain Files (Adobe) that were found locked because of cookie handling upon installation, but as a novice that is beyond my comprehension.In any case, is anyone aware of a fix for this problem? (That message is not suppose to stay there) I am using Win XP IE8. I tried viewing using the Firefox Browser (3.5.2) and it did not help.

i have a Gericom Official Notebook computer, it will not boot up at all, the power comes on and i think its the fan i can here spinning, and the lite comes on, so the power ok. the hard drive light flashes twice But the screen is totally black, and there is no POST beep.
