View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if this can be done in win xp environment. say I have a folder, A, of pictures only and they all have file extensions jpg eg abc.jpg, xyz.jpg. say I have a second folder, B, which contains all the files of A(if you ignore extensions) and more(but all are pictures.) But all the files in B has extensions NEF instead of jpg eg abc.NEF, efg.NEF, xyz.NEF. My idea is to extract all the files from B that has the same the name as A(ignoring extensions) and either move or copy to a separate folder ie if A contains abc.jpg, xyz.jpg then abc.NEF and xyz.NEF will be extracted and moved/copied to a new folder. I'm not sure where to start. is there a program out there that can do this? or there's a special command to type at the command prompt?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to run command line utilities such as ipconfig, netstat etc.. on
the command line interface I get message such as like that:
C:>ipconig
'ipconig' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Previously I have been doing work that requires me to unplug my network connection and I need to check my IP address each time I plug it in again. I guess it's not set for static IP.Anyways to do this I usually go into Command Prompt and type 'ipconfig'Now however I just get "'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".The directory is the same as its always been, I can change it but it doesn't seem to matter what it is.I've checked many other posts and is there something possibly wrong with my PATH variable? I used the command 'echo %PATH%' and it works, the list it gives is very garbled however.

View 4 Replies View RelatedYou see my cmd is working fine. Then one day I open run and type in cmd and then enter. I type in ipconfig and it says ipconfig isn't an external command or something like that. Anyways I fixed the problem by typing in run C:WINDOWSsystem32cmd.exe and enter. Weird enough it worked when i typed in ipconfig, and other commands. If I typed in cmd that was open from the run any commands wouldn't work. I tried creating an shortcut from the actual cmd file and trying commands but it still doesn't work. Well sometimes I code stuff or download .bat files because I need of em. And I try to open the file but it always usually runs fine but after that incident I try to open any .bat file and it just opens it and the window closes so fast. I don't know how to fix this problem uahghhh it's a pain in the butt lol. It's getting me so mad! I just want to use my normal cmd .

My question is: In Win XP Pro SP2, is there a reboot command (executable) in the Windows (or any other) folder? If so, would you please tell me where it is. I would like to use the task scheduler to reboot the computer at the start of each day, and hopefully without going through a lot of hoops.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was cleaning virus and spyware from a friends computer, and when all was done, the Run command is now missing not only from the Start menu, but also from the Advance Properties to be able to turn it on and off. I noticed in the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellNoRoamMUICache, the key for Run Command was missing, so I created it ("@shell32.dll,-30483"="Run command" REG_SZ)hoping that would solve it, but still it is missing. I re-ran XP SP2, no luck. I installed the free version of Registry Mechanic, but that didn't fix it (though there were things only the full version would fix). I found a reference to this on the site for Prevx1 saying this occurs when McAfee (which was used) only fixes a particular virus half-way, and that Prevx1 would fix it completely. It didn't.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust built up a new computer. Installed Windows XP Home SP3. Installed fine but couldn't get online. Found out I needed to install the drivers from the motherboard install disk. It installs the drivers but then it has to reboot to finish. When it reboots it goes to a command line promt to make a raid disk. Problem is that I don't have a floppy disk drive in the computer. (Come on, I didn't think ppl even used em anymore.) If I try to take the CD out and run windows, It gets to the XP load up screen then restarts. Unless I run it in safe mode. My question is this:Is there a command i can use in that prompt to save the Raid Disk info to another drive or port. Like a USB port or External Floppy Drive?

I'm not sure what to do, to be honest. I'll keep playing with things, but it happened Friday during the day, and I'm sure that no one was using it on Friday.
