I dont seem to have microsoft word. Im running xp home edition, this is stopping me from scanning properly. I understand that i need office to do this. there is site called openoffice.org , but are not sure on whatto
download from it.
When I try to open Microsoft Office Word 2003 a window pops up that says window installer then it says installing microsoft office word feature. It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd.
If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point.
About 2 weeks ago I went to open an attachment and it said i needed a different program to open this. Up pops a box with a dozen or so of my regular programs so I though I will try microsoft word. I now know that was the wrong thing to do as all my pictures on my computer (hundreds) if clicked on Microsoft word opens AND THEN EVERTHING COMES UP IN XO/ JIBBERISH.i THINK ITS CALLED SCRIPT.The only way I can get the picture to open in the right program which is Nero is to right click mouse and point to open .It then directly opens in Nero.Last night we uninstalled Microsoft word and Nero to see if that helped and it did not.Lastly if email is sent with attachment when it is open it also come up through Microsoft word in gibberish however the picture is in the bottom prevue pane.

I can not find the product key anywhere. I know it is supposed to be on the outside sleeve of the CD package, but it is not. Microsoft said to contact Dell, and Dell said to contact Microsoft.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a work computer that came with Microsoft Word 2007 already installed on it, i did not recieve any product key or anything. it let me use it 50 times, now it's locked me out and i can't touch it, i tried activating it but i can't without a product key. I tried explaining the situation to the microsoft tech support guy and he just told me i had to buy a product key. I had one of my friends tell me that the same thing happened to him, and that it was some sort of glitch in the '07 office program. Apparently there is a way around it on the internet, but i can't find it and i am by no means tech savvy when it comes to computers...
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening for awhile now, but this is really bothering me now as I have been typing an essay that is due tomorrow and everytime I open it, especially when I scroll down or any movement of the page, the screeen becomes very fuzzy and blurry. I have XP PRO, and this only happens in Word, not while surfing the web. I know it has something to do with my cpu as I have tried 3 various monitors that I have and the problem still persits. The lines on teh screeen are of a reddish color, and it becomes hard to view the letters.

They are in a folder called fonts that I thought was associated with Windows/fonts but apparently is not. My question is, should they be in the Windows/fonts subfolder? Whenever, i click on a microsoft word document I get Windows Fax and Image viewer. The only way i can get it to open in word is to use this route. Right click the file>click on open with<choose Microsoft Word. This is just really annoying and i believe its related to the patch

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just did a clean install of XP Home on my mother? s Inspiron 1200, thinking it had pickup a virus or some kind of bug. It was very sluggish and was having a hard time booting up. Since I did the install the machine is acting a lot better, it boots faster & shuts off fine. But, after it gets warmed up, when you click on an item (Microsoft Word) on the menu bar, like edit to cut & paste, the shaded area jumps back and forth. It will jump back to file, then to format. The hotter the machine get the more this happens, then I have a hard time cutting the machine off, does anybody know what is going on? Is it a hardware problem or software problem?

The OS does see the DVD drive because Roxio can burn to the drive. I prefer saving directly to the the drive from Word. What could be the problem?

Well i only have one user, never had another user created until recently (temporary fix) is there anything i can do, the main user is called the owner, it says its the computer admin, but i guess there is still an admin user, i cant get to that. the only way i can get ms office to work was to create a new user, open all the office programs, export the office registry, and import it to my main user, thats the only thing that works, for a little bit.

Due to a virus I caught I had to format the windows partition and reinstall all the drivers and stuff. Everything seems to work fine except for the internet. It's not that I don't have any connection but it is extremely slow, I cannot connect at all to some specific sites (such as www.blue-whitegt.com) and after a while it's completely lost. I tried updating all the drivers of my hardware, I installed the windows service pack 3, I intalled the newest java console, I checked my rooter settings (which of course are the same as they were before the format), I even turned windows firewall completely off

I took the System diskl that came with it originally(2 years ago) and rep0aired the windows with the repair option instead of reinstalling windows completely. It worked fine, but i found windows to be XP service pack 1. I now updated service pack 1 completely and then updated to service Pack 2. Heres the prioblem. When Installing SP2 i kept getting Application errors for numerous Application stated below. On anyone of the Applications, the message was: instruction @ "ox5a00671a" referenced memory @ "oxff3fb084". The memory can not be "read".

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe SHIFT key was pressed too long and we got into the Swift Key feature somehow. We got out of it by exiting the application. However, now everytime we start the computer, key strokes don't appear on the screen. You have to hold down the SHIFT key until it makes a sound and then you can type characters and they are displayed on the screen. It is irritating to start the computer and not be able to type anything.
There is probably a switch that was set that I can't find. How can I get rid of this "feature?" PC is Laptop Dell 2600 Inspiron running XP Home.
When I start up my computer it will not respond to anything that has to do with my keyboard and mouse. I couldn't figure out why, I mean they came with my computer. The mouse is not even optical and it has a cord. I tried booting into safemode but since the keyboard doesn't work I couldn't. I tried booting from a disk but I have to be able to press any key to be able to do that. I couldn't log onto the accounts because that requires both a mouse and a keyboard. I tried using a different and keyboard that plug into the same ports, which resulted in the same thing. So I used a keyboard for a playstation 2 because it uses USB and I used a mouse I found that hooks up to USB as well. They work fine. However, I want the PS/2 ports to work because I better things to be taking up my usb ports.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer doesn't recognize USB ports upon startup. When I turn it on, it says Floppy diskette seek failure, and I have to press F1 to continue or F2. It's always said that... and my mouse lights up and my key board lights up fine... but when I press F1 and it goes to the Windows loading screen, the lights powers off and the keyboard doesn't work.. and I can't use my mouse or keyboard when it reaches my login screen.
