having a problem with her PC involving checking the internet for instance its really really slow, also not only the internet but her microsoft word either doesn't work or is also extremely slow. Some websites open some don't, and if it does open it takes a really really long time with errors....please help she can't get any schoolwork done at all because of this problem

When I try to open Microsoft Office Word 2003 a window pops up that says window installer then it says installing microsoft office word feature. It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft Office Standard edition 2003 from cd please insert your cd.
If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point.
My problem is is when I booted my comp up yesterday, norton comes up with some odd error about not being able to scan e-mail or instant messenger for viruses, and my internet on just this computer will not work. Now this happened with my other comp when the hard drive was failing. The computer will also at some reboots take forever to get into windows.Sometimes when I try to get into network connections or my computer, it will just hang or I get the flashlight icon scanning. I was able to back up most of my stuff, but when I tried to reformat, it kept saying to close all windows and I ended every program I could think of.I also tried a system restore to Saturday when it was working normal, but I have had no luck. Is it something with windows or is another HDD going? I'm thinking of just RMA'ing the HDD and do a whole new install. My only other option is to use a Linux Suse disk I have and boot from that and see if it works. View 13 Replies View RelatedRight after my computer is finishes booting, suddenly there's a prompt telling me that Internet Explorer wants to change my Internet Protection settings. Then it asks me if I want to give IE permission to change these settings. Of course not (I think?). And the problem is still there. I connect with Verizon DSL, but when I go on Internet Explorer, the browser doesn't work properly- it says "Web Page Unavavailable While Offline"- what's up with that?! I even checked the status of my connnection- "Connected"! It's just retarded.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden my Dell laptop (just over a year old, go figure) has started acting funny. Here's some of the issues that started happening all of a sudden -It runs super slow at times and freezing up, svchost.exe seems to be taking a lot of resources up when that's happening -The memory card reader doesn't work. It makes the noise that a new device has been recognized when I put one it, but it never shows up in My Computer. The memory card reader does appear to be working properly in device manager. -Both firefox and IE aren't loading some sites. I'm connected to the internet and some sites load just fine and others never seem to load- and it's not that the site is down. The list of sites I can't access I'm starting to discover is big, and which sites can be access and which ones can't doesn't seem to follow any pattern- I can access google & gmail, but it won't perform a search (either from the page or from the search toolbar in both IE and firefox). I can access and log into my banking sites, ebay, and other random sites (some secure, some not). But I can't access weather.com, the Neosmart forums, the Dell community forums, dell.com, and others. I can access facebook.com, but I can't log on.
My first thought was I have some type of spyware even though I'm very good about not downloading stuff so I ran a ad-aware scan and it came up with nothing. I also ran a hijackthis scan and everything was normal there too. I'd been noticing recently that some windows processes in task manager are using what seemed like a large amount of memory. I then looked my other computer and on the problem one Explorer.exe is running around 99,000 - 120,000 kb- on my other computer it only runs around 14,000-35,000, that big of a difference between the two machines (both running xp- the problem one pro on a laptop, the other home on a desktop) is not normal...........
When I click on a Word document (on my Desktop, for example), it seems to take a long time for the document to open. Yet if I have Word open and click on the document it opens instantaneously. Similarly, when I right click on a document, photo, spreadsheet file, it takes what seems a long time for the menu (Open, Run as, Send to, Delete, etc..) to open.

Up pops a box with a dozen or so of my regular programs so I though I will try microsoft word. I now know that was the wrong thing to do as all my pictures on my computer (hundreds) if clicked on Microsoft word opens AND THEN EVERTHING COMES UP IN XO/ JIBBERISH.i THINK ITS CALLED SCRIPT.The only way I can get the picture to open in the right program which is Nero is to right click mouse and point to open .It then directly opens in Nero.Last night we uninstalled Microsoft word and Nero to see if that helped and it did not.Lastly if email is sent with attachment when it is open it also come up through Microsoft word in gibberish however the picture is in the bottom prevue pane.

Normal boot shows the windows initial screen, but eventually just restarts, safe mode does the same thing whether it's with network, command line or plain safe mode. Last known good configuration does the same.Needed to use a file so decided to remove the HD and re-install to another PC. I did have access to the file in question but now I'd like to fix the problem.
The other system uses AVG. I started a scan and it detected Cekar.d (A0003977.exe, wdfmgr.exe and initially ntldr.exe), Dropper.Inor (ntdetect.hta, A0003979.hta), PSW.Generic5.ABVW (ctfmona.exe), PSW.OnlineGames.AAFI (ctfmonb.exe), PSW.Generic5.AFYK (ctfmond.exe), PSW.OnlineGames.ZWT (LotusHlp.exe) and some others but for whatever reason the scan stopped. I restarted it and now the AV still finds most of the threats it was seeing before but not Cekar.d. in the ntldr.exe file.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a work computer that came with Microsoft Word 2007 already installed on it, i did not recieve any product key or anything. it let me use it 50 times, now it's locked me out and i can't touch it, i tried activating it but i can't without a product key. I tried explaining the situation to the microsoft tech support guy and he just told me i had to buy a product key. I had one of my friends tell me that the same thing happened to him, and that it was some sort of glitch in the '07 office program. Apparently there is a way around it on the internet, but i can't find it and i am by no means tech savvy when it comes to computers...
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis has been happening for awhile now, but this is really bothering me now as I have been typing an essay that is due tomorrow and everytime I open it, especially when I scroll down or any movement of the page, the screeen becomes very fuzzy and blurry. I have XP PRO, and this only happens in Word, not while surfing the web. I know it has something to do with my cpu as I have tried 3 various monitors that I have and the problem still persits. The lines on teh screeen are of a reddish color, and it becomes hard to view the letters.

Whenever, i click on a microsoft word document I get Windows Fax and Image viewer. The only way i can get it to open in word is to use this route. Right click the file>click on open with<choose Microsoft Word. This is just really annoying and i believe its related to the patch

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just did a clean install of XP Home on my mother? s Inspiron 1200, thinking it had pickup a virus or some kind of bug. It was very sluggish and was having a hard time booting up. Since I did the install the machine is acting a lot better, it boots faster & shuts off fine. But, after it gets warmed up, when you click on an item (Microsoft Word) on the menu bar, like edit to cut & paste, the shaded area jumps back and forth. It will jump back to file, then to format. The hotter the machine get the more this happens, then I have a hard time cutting the machine off, does anybody know what is going on? Is it a hardware problem or software problem?

Often when I am opening documents in Word 2003, it takes ages for the system to respond 20-60 secs and when it does so it does it in a jerky fashion.
I have recently upped the RAM to 1 gig, so can't belive this is the problem.
