I recently installed Microsoft Office 2007 and it was working fine for a week, now i get this message when i try to use Microsoft Word saying "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked" And when I try to uninstall the whole program it says that 'setup can not continue because a file is missing or corrupt'

It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. I have a work computer that came with Microsoft Word 2007 already installed on it, i did not recieve any product key or anything. it let me use it 50 times, now it's locked me out and i can't touch it, i tried activating it but i can't without a product key. I tried explaining the situation to the microsoft tech support guy and he just told me i had to buy a product key. I had one of my friends tell me that the same thing happened to him, and that it was some sort of glitch in the '07 office program. Apparently there is a way around it on the internet, but i can't find it and i am by no means tech savvy when it comes to computers...

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince installing Office 2007 (over Office 2000) recently, I often encounter delays in opening Office 2000 Word files. Furthermore, I am sometimes unable to open them unless I move them to a 'trusted' directory. So I defined a trusted directory, moved the file(s) there, and can work. But when I just now tried to open an Office 2000 Word file, I received a different error message, namely ' You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry policy setting.', with instructions to disable the restriction via regedit. When I looked at the registry data, there was no 'Office' tab whatsoever under the Microsoft tab beneath Policies. So I'm unable to edit the registry to 'unblock' access to such legacy files.

It must have disappeared as a result of my work done on this machine after it was impacted by Malware VX2. That is the only thing I can think of. I cant locate the Office discs so I cant reload. I've created a ToC using TOC1, TOC2 and TOC3. I can modify the styles in either/both the TOC itself or in the text of the document, but I want them to be different from each other.
For example, in the text of the document I want TOC1 to be 12 pt font with 12pt above paragraph formatting. In the TOC itself, I want TOC1 to be 10 pt font with 4 pt above. Does anyone know how to make the style appear differently in the two different locations?

i have windows XP home edition service pack 3. and i use Microsoft office 2003, and well recently it began to pop up and say microsoft office word has not been installed for current user. please run setup utility. Well i only have one user, never had another user created until recently (temporary fix) is there anything i can do, the main user is called the owner, it says its the computer admin, but i guess there is still an admin user, i cant get to that. the only way i can get ms office to work was to create a new user, open all the office programs, export the office registry, and import it to my main user, thats the only thing that works, for a little bit.

I have reloaded Windows on another HDD and I will be able to recover most of my data from backups. However, there is still some recent data on the bad disk which I am frantic to recover. I am able to find the "Documents and Settings" folder where I believe the "Outlook Express" data is held
I am unable to get into the folder as my username on the computer was passworded (the password is known). Neither am I allowed to copy the folder to my new drive. I cannot access the folder from my new OS even when I password myself with the same username / password. I have attempted to repair the bad drive's copy of Windows but that wasn't successful. I don't want to replace the bad copy with a fresh as this would reformat the drive taking with it the folder I want (and can't copy). Any work on the folder would need to be on the bad drive, it seems. I have run out of ideas.
I currently have Windows XP Professional on a HP Pavillion .542 Right now when i start up it goes past the thing where is shows the microsoft logo and then my screen goes blank. I dont know whats wrong with it and im not sure if its the right answer but I would like to reformat my computer and then put microsoft office (2002) onto it but i am computer stupid and i have no clue what to do.

Up pops a box with a dozen or so of my regular programs so I though I will try microsoft word. I now know that was the wrong thing to do as all my pictures on my computer (hundreds) if clicked on Microsoft word opens AND THEN EVERTHING COMES UP IN XO/ JIBBERISH.i THINK ITS CALLED SCRIPT.The only way I can get the picture to open in the right program which is Nero is to right click mouse and point to open .It then directly opens in Nero.Last night we uninstalled Microsoft word and Nero to see if that helped and it did not.Lastly if email is sent with attachment when it is open it also come up through Microsoft word in gibberish however the picture is in the bottom prevue pane.

I restarted my computer and came up with a Windows Installer problem that I couldn't clear with Windows Installer cleanup or an upgrade to Windows Installer 4.5 (?). I could access the Internet, but not my email on Outlook 3.I decided to do a full reload of Windows XP Pro on the laptop. That apparently went well, but now I cannnot connect to the Internet (Windows Firewall is disabled). Access to email is okay on my desktop, and experts at AT&T U-Verse assure me that the problem is in my laptop.

With svchost disabled, I can not use Automatic Update. With it enabled, the computer freezes.

I didn't initiate anything, but after cancelling out repeatedly and restarting, it happened again.I restored the Registry First Aid registry backup from last night's scan and on reboot did not get the message . But, I've had random instances lately where the "explorer.exe" hangs on reboot.
