I'm not sure where to ask this because I'm not sure what's causing it. I have a fresh install of XP Pro in an old machine running an Athlon XP 3000+ on an ASUS A7V8X MB with 1.25G of memory. Bios & drivers are current. Every time I launch a DVD the system freezes completely. I can open the viewer, either VLC or WMP but as soon as the DVD begins to open it freezes. The CPU is not overclocked and the machine runs OK otherwise.
I can play music, but can't play music videos.I get this error message:Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. In the Open URL dialog, try opening the file using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").I am also having problems with UPDATING Windows Media- I get a message saying I am missing some components. I cant go into the Microsoft updates webpage either- I get a message saying ''page cannot be displayed''
I am on CMT.COM and when I go to the video section to watch a video the commercial will play but when it gets to the video it will not play all it says on the player is ready.
everytime i try to see a movie in a website (like a movie trailer) or a website that has music (a friend's network for example). it asks me "click to run an activex control on this website" and i have to accept each time. it gets a bit annoying. i dont think i had this before so maybe something changed in my settings that makes me accept this each time. in addition, i tried to go to internet option>security>custom and enable all the activex plugin options... but i still get the same window asking me ro run activex. i have also realized that in some websites like mojoflix.com (similar to Internet) i cannot even see any videos anymore. there is a small red x (inside a white square) on the top left corner. any idea of what we might have changed that does not allow me to see this videos and asks me for activex verification in other sites?
My system: Windows XP SP3 I have downloaded videos instrustions that show: Shockwave Flash Object However, when I click on the icon to pay the video(s) I get the message: Windows can not open this file - to open this file Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer. What should I do. P;ease advise.
I turn on my computer and everything looks fine at first.I see my desktop properly. Then when I try to play any movie files the image that it projects is sort of chopped up. I also happend to notice that when I browse some webpages JPG images appear distorted as well. Then when I try to play video files such as WMV, AVI, MPG and more... some of them appear distorted AND the audio sounds horrible. It's all scratchy like. But MP3s work fine as do WMAs... I'm so totally lost. I've tried a system restore, restarting my computer, changing my video properties (i.e. 32bit to 16bit and even lowering resolution) none of those worked.
On one of my older computers running windows xp, i am having a annoying problem. Most of the time when i try to play a video on it, it will have a little windows installer window pop up(i had the ace mega codec pack installed on but it was really bad and kept me from even playing video so i uninstalled it)it has been a while since i used that pc but now i have it plugged up to a tv and a speaker system in my room and am not in for reinstalling windows (everything else runs 100% fine very fast and smooth)
whenever I try to play music it doesnt play, it says low on memory, whenever I open any Microsoft Word program it gives me some error about a license, and whever I try to copy and paste anything, it doesnt let me. I have a few partitions on my hard drive and whenever I copy one file or a folder or anything, I cannot paste it anywhere. If I open Control Panel, the screen doesnt appear as usual, all the icons are on two columns on the lft side with a scroll bar next to them. If I try to open Add/Remove programs, it comes up all garbled. I was going to just reformat the whole computer but it will not boot from the cd rom drive now. And whenever the computer is booted in W2K and I try to browse the CD in My Computer, it just says "Please insert disk in drive...." Also, whenevr I restart, it sits on my desktop for about 5 minutes before it finally brings up the icons and everything. It has never done any of this, it just started this morning.
I have a couple thousand midi files broken into smaller folders. I click one to play with Media Player or there was a link that said PLAY ALL. That doesn't appear anymore and I have to keep selecting tunes each time one ends. I looked in the window drop downs but can't find how to bring back PLAY ALL.
i have a problem with windows media player, whenever i try to play a video, it says play at the bottom left hand side of the screen but nothing plays, audio, or video, what do i do?
I came across this message today, "Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovience".I clicked on the "To see what data this error report contains, click here"Here is the info I got from that: Error Signature App Name: explorer.exe ModVer : 1.0.0.5 AppVer : 6.0.2.9.00.3156 Modname: mpegsplitter.ax Offset : 000249eb I guess you probably need to know where Im encountering this problem... It only happens when I go to My Documents>My Videos>Veoh.
I have some avi videos I wish to convert to DVD and burn. I used to use this program called ********* AVI to DVD which would convert the avi file and then automatically burn it to a dvd. However after a reinstall of my OS and reinstalling the program i tried loading an avi file and I get this error:"Avi2Mpeg Main has encountered an error and needs to close."I've tried reinstalling the program and making sure I have all the codecs needed but still no luck.
I deleted my old user account on my Windows XP Pro machine a few weeks ago and now I no longer have a My Music Folder or a My Videos folder. Either that or it just simply isn't showing up in the Start Menu and is hidden somewhere. Anyone care to help me figure out what's going on here and how I can fix it?
There are two pornographic videos that are downloaded onto my computer in the folder that I use to download music on LimeWire. I've never downloaded a video from LimeWire that I can recall, only music. Anyway, these 2 files will not delete when I right-click and try to select delete. There is no delete on the right-click list, the files CANNOT be dragged into any other folder including the Recycle Bin
Its strange my videos are multicolored like a rainbow some of them are and some of them aren't could it be a codec problem? can anybody help i haven't been on the computer scene for a long time
I recently upgraded my 2x 512mb RAM for a brand new 2x 1GB sticks. After that I'm having random crashes when playing video sometimes even mp3 on winamp but mostly on Video playback. I'm having no problem playing games I can play for hours and it wont crash. Watching embedded video on firefox no problem as well. I've done some testing it happens sometimes when I try to play a video doesn't matter if its .avi, .wmv, .mkv, a lot of times when I try to pause or stop the video and most of the time when the video is playing and I close the player. Now I've tried different players VLC, WMP classic, WMP 10,11 also tried different Nvidia Drivers ranging from 80.xx to the latest 175.16 with no luck. I've attached minidumps and a bugcheck on the latest minidump.
I am using XP Pro with 1 Gig Ram and plenty of hard disk space (500 Gig).I am having difficulty saving videos from my Sony DCR-TRV480 NTSC video camera.I used to be able to with no issues however, I've recently reinstalled my operating system and since then it appears that the video is transferring and after I try, finishing this error occurs:.avi could not be imported. The selected file is not valid or is corrupted.
tried installing norton 360 and pressed yes to something regarding java script and a cookie, she can't remember what it was, because she just presses yes to anything because she is a total retard who i'm banning from the computer.so. now Internet videos no longer come up, google images dont show up, email page is all in basic text. and i don't get redirected when i make a post on a forum. those are the only symptons i've seen so far. so what the **** is up. i also can't add smileys from the side there >> they dont come up in text form. before you tell me to do something completely basic.
I have just removed Vista from my PC and re-formatted my hard drive, before installing XP. When I try to playback any video, it opens the player, tried both mediaplayer and nero showtime, then freezes the entire PC. Have loaded all the usual codecs but still no joy
Whenever I play a movie or try to put a TV or video signal into my computer the resulting image is all washed out like the gamma is up way too high. They play Ok on my laptop and sound is OK just image.I am running Windows XP home, service 2, on a P41800, 512mbRAM and Nvidia 128mb GeForce FX5200. I have recently installed SP2 but not sure if has coincided with this problem or not. I have the latest version of Windows Media Player and all the XP updates from Windows Update. Also have latest Nvidia drivers
Done 3 photo videos in Movie Maker. Two of them work fine. The other gets to one slide and stays there. Music continues to play. I have recopied to Media Player about 6 times.
My hard drive recently got corrupted and I had to install WP XP Home, instead of XP Professional that I had previously. After installation and downloading WMP, I was unable to play any MPEG files that previously worked. WMP gives me the following error - C00D11B1. Even the files thumbnails dont look the same (currently look like generic files). However, the MPEGs work fine when I play them in Quicktime and even iTunes. I downloaded/bought a plug-in from the WMP website which I think gives me MPEG-2 decoder/DVD software etc. However, I think that relates to DVD play etc, while I am more concerned about the videos from my Sony Digital Camera which still dont work. Am I missing any drivers etc that I need to download? Btw music files work fine, and this only relates to videos.
yes my computer restarts when i play video games or when im hearing music or watching videos i think its the video/sound card but im asking to see if i need to send it to repair or it has a solution
My in-laws computer has 89% of hard drive (40 of 44 gb) used. I've deleted obvious things like photos and videos, but most of the files have names i dont recognize and I dont want to bust the computer or lose a key application. Theydon't have all that many programs either. How can I know what to delete?
I am unable to install Adobe Flash Player to view videos I am unable to disable the Windows Firewall because of "group policy".How do I attach a Hijack log to this post?
My problem is that in my computer with windows xp I used to always use the thumbnail view in the windows explorer to know which videos where which and also for images. But then my computer got all screwed up and I had to reformat it and install the windows xp again and downloaded all the new service packs and stuff. But now, I go to either the windows explorer or my computer and for images I can see the thumbnails but for videos it only shows either the windows media or realplayer logo but no thumbnail image of the video. It is driving me crazy because I really need to be able to see the thumbnails in order to identity them fast instead of having to open all of them!
I went on vacation, and when I came back, I wasn't able to view myspace songs, myspace videos, and stuff on other websites.I don't know if someone messed with my computer while I was gone. Is there something I can download that would make this work again?
i'm having trouble loading things online.web pages, games, videos, etc.Internet.com is the worst.most of the time i cannot even get into the site, and on the rare occasion that i do, most videos won't load.they just stay on a black loading screen for a long time, and never do anything else. web pages don't load most of the time either.i have four different browsers, i have run every scan, updated everything, including the flash player, i have disabled my firewall, pop-up blocker, and virus protection.restored computer to an earlier state, used recovery discs, cleared cookies, history, cache, temporary internet files.
