i have MCE and whenever i try to play a video or tv, it says that the files needed to display a video are missing or corrupted. How can i fix this. The videos work fine in Media player, but not in Media Center

View 10 Replies View RelatedWMP 10 will not play completely through an mpg file without hanging every few seconds.It seems like it is having a buffering problem but these short 3 minute mpgs have never caused a problem before. I tried downloading WMP10 again nothing changed.Is there a buffer setting that might have changed? I have 2G RAM and these files are little. I'm completely up to date on all MS updates.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive recently got corrupted and I had to install WP XP Home, instead of XP Professional that I had previously. After installation and downloading WMP, I was unable to play any MPEG files that previously worked. WMP gives me the following error - C00D11B1. Even the files thumbnails dont look the same (currently look like generic files). However, the MPEGs work fine when I play them in Quicktime and even iTunes. I downloaded/bought a plug-in from the WMP website which I think gives me MPEG-2 decoder/DVD software etc. However, I think that relates to DVD play etc, while I am more concerned about the videos from my Sony Digital Camera which still dont work. Am I missing any drivers etc that I need to download? Btw music files work fine, and this only relates to videos.

When I start up my computer it will not respond to anything that has to do with my keyboard and mouse. I couldn't figure out why, I mean they came with my computer. The mouse is not even optical and it has a cord. I tried booting into safemode but since the keyboard doesn't work I couldn't. I tried booting from a disk but I have to be able to press any key to be able to do that. I couldn't log onto the accounts because that requires both a mouse and a keyboard. I tried using a different and keyboard that plug into the same ports, which resulted in the same thing. So I used a keyboard for a playstation 2 because it uses USB and I used a mouse I found that hooks up to USB as well. They work fine. However, I want the PS/2 ports to work because I better things to be taking up my usb ports.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer doesn't recognize USB ports upon startup. When I turn it on, it says Floppy diskette seek failure, and I have to press F1 to continue or F2. It's always said that... and my mouse lights up and my key board lights up fine... but when I press F1 and it goes to the Windows loading screen, the lights powers off and the keyboard doesn't work.. and I can't use my mouse or keyboard when it reaches my login screen.

View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen I try to start puter first the mouse dont work any more. I had a Logitech MX 510. IT lights up but wont work. Installed a Radio shack mouse worked for a little it. Then it shuts down too. I try to start computer and tap on F8 key or DEL key sometimes it works an sometimes not if it works I am good for a little bit. 15min to 30 min then lock up. If i get into safe mode its ok until about the same 15min to 30 min. If F8 and DEL keys dont work It starts the process and then gets to floppy disk and fails. It say Floppy Disk Fail (40). I have checked and the fans are working and thats not a problem Hard drives work and 1.5 GB ram and thats ok too. So stumped and wondering if I can fix it or not.

When I go to the device manager, it's telling me that no audio device is installed and I can't seem to find it or how to reinstall it (I do not have the disk that came with the computer). However, my main concerns are the USB ports and the Plug and Play feature. These were working fine, but now nothing happens when I plug in a USB device. There is power going to the USB ports, however, the system doesn't seem to recognize that I have plugged something in. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting the system, and the drivers were correctly reinstalled but it is still not finding any new device that I plug in. System restore isn't working either.

I can install other programs like Google earth, but the installer for Flash Player 9 asks for admin priviligies. actually it doesnt even ask it just says you do not have admin rights. My questions is, is there another way around it?. I have downloaded the program to the computer but just cant open it to install. Maybe there is a trick or maybe another version of flash player that doesnt have the install searching for admin rights first like Google Earth.any Flash Player will do. If anyone can maybe find a version that I can install or maybe a trick I can use to install it. My boss is on vacation untill after the new year, and nobody in my office has the abbility to log on as admin on my office computer.

Nike/Philips sent me to Dell who sent me back to Nike/Philips who then sent me to Microsoft who I have so far been unable to contact successfully.Tried to uninstall software but received variety of errors, incl. some Java ones. Eventually appeared to delete it but trying to reinstall software always displays "Digital Media Manager already installed". Have tried manually removing some Registry elements but I'm clearly missing some. Does anyone know precisely which Registry elements I need to remove for a complete manual uninstallation ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving recently had someone else using my computer for a while, installing various software (like winamp and SubEdit player) it seems windows media player (that's what I use) no longer recognises the usual files as media files like .mp3 .wmv .m3u .avi etc etc so when I click open file and select "media files (all types)" in the file type box it shows nothing, so I have to change it to all files which is irritating. Media player still plays everything fine but this is pretty annoying.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a laptop with 200 server installed on it and I would like to learn about it. I need some help with what I thought would be a simple setup. I want to set up 2 users for this laptop. myself and my daughter. I have it set with myself as the admin and her as a user. I want to be able to limit the amount of damage she does to the poor thing. My main question is how to set up certain programs to work and not work for her. I have one program music match that works in admin but not on user even though it seems to say it will work for users. From what I have seen from this operating system its not real easy to set it up. I have a book from the library but its a que and not good for me. Any advise on a good book would be great. I know it would be easier to use xp or win 2000 pro but thats not nearly challenging enough for me.

I also changed the operating system that is from vista to XP but the problem persisted. It did not stop on that only, the DVD-ROM also failed to read DVDs.
