Can anyone tell me how to configure windows media player 10 to work from behind the windows firewall which was installed when i updated to windows service pack2? I am using windows xp and explorer6.0 with verizon dsl 3.0 internet connection.
I have synced my mp3 upto windows media player as the software that came with my mp3 dosen't work that well.The problem i have with the windows player is that it won't allow me to drag items across so that i can get the songs on to the player.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI use Windows Media Player 10 as my primary media player. But I like to keep Real Player and QuickTime quietly waiting in the wings and call upon them occasionally. Well, I got the latest version of the Real player and clipped its wings so it wouldn't take over every audio and video file i have. Then downloaded the latest QuickTime player (after uninstalling the old one.) Every time an attempt is made to install the QuickTime player after 11 or so seconds into the process it stops and gives me this little message: "1607: Unable to install Installshield Scripting Runtime."

It is staying on top of all open files and is waiting for me to approve the update.It reads this way: (Blue column to the left with an eye-shaped logo and the word Viewpoint. The white section to the right says: You have been Updated. Your Viewpoint Media Player was recently updated with the latest components to enhance your web viewing. A new browser update is recommended, including advanced pop-up blocking and graphically enhanced search. Then there is a clickable button saying "Update" Below that there is a note that says: Note: There is NO Restart required. It gives another clickable button that says More Info and a line that says Who is Viewpoint? This takes you to a description which includes the "fact" that they are a NASDAQ company that provides internet graphics and delivery technology to Fortune 500 companies including AOL, GE, GM, etc. This did not make me feel better.

I have a voicemail service that I access either by phone or online. I've been having trouble playing messages online and saving messages to my hard disk. Left-clicking on a message should open a WMP 10 window and play the message. The problem is that it works sporadically. One minute I can play a message fine, then I'll try playing another one and it might play fine, but it might not. If not, the bottom of the window says ''connecting...'' and nothing happens.
If I right-click on a message to get a menu that includes, ''save target as'' and choose this option, I get a ''file download'' window that says ''getting file information''. Then either a ''save as'' (?) window is displayed or the ''file download'' window gets stuck saying ''getting file information.''
When I insert a music CD, a window comes- up asking if I want real player or take no action.What I want is auto-play with windows media player and cannot figure this out.

I tried downloading WMP10 again nothing changed.Is there a buffer setting that might have changed? I have 2G RAM and these files are little. I'm completely up to date on all MS updates.
