Lately I've tried to get onto Final Fantasy Online and it doesn't appear to be letting me online, even though my internet is clearly working. It appears to be the exact same for WinMX (yes, it is a legal share program, so don't shout at me and refuse to help me) But at the same time as all this, my Windows Media Player refuses to play most of my MP3 tracks.
View 10 RepliesDownloaded SP2 for Windows XP Home and immediately lost all video (not audio) in both Real Player and Windows Media Player. Removed each of these and reloaded "fresh" version - same problem. Then removed SP2 and presto - video returns.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWMP 10 will not play completely through an mpg file without hanging every few seconds.It seems like it is having a buffering problem but these short 3 minute mpgs have never caused a problem before. I tried downloading WMP10 again nothing changed.Is there a buffer setting that might have changed? I have 2G RAM and these files are little. I'm completely up to date on all MS updates.
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy cable is not working properly.Every 15-20 minutes my internet connection is broken even though the modem is online and there is no problem with the cable coming into my house. I have to reset the cable modem and then it works for another 10-20 minutes until the next cut. Ive had this problem before (last time i changed computers) but cant remember how it was resolved. I already talked to my ISP support but these guys are brain damaged or something and cannot even comprehend my problem and all 3 actually concluded that i had somehow contracted some killer virus immediately after connecting my computer and this virus was the root of my problems

My wife uses a second computer that is connected via a hard wire. My internet connection is through Comcast cable and my wifes receives the internet connection through a router. The router is a Trendnet TW 100. My wife downloads and lets others in her movie room download from her files. Once in a 24 hour period her computer loses the internet connection and disrupt either her download or upload. She has been told it is the router but I opened it and do not see any shut down instruction in it. Does anyone have an idea why this happens every 24 hours and how to fix it,
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had fiber optics for about 6 months now. I had cable access before that. I have three computers set up in my home in three different locations. All three are hardwired to a linksys router. A few nights ago one of my roommates told me she lost her internet connection. I was on mine at the time playing STO and I was having no problems. I checked with my other roommate and her internet connection was fine also. So I went to the room where the connection was out and asked her if she changed anything, she said no. I restarted the computer, still the connection was out. I checked the cable where it was exposed from the wall it looked fine. Now I noticed that the desk was sitting on the cable, but it still looked fine. So I went and got my spare computer that I keep as a back-up and brought it to the room that was out. I connected it and turned it on and the spares internet connection was down also (I just had the internet running on the spare earlier that day).
So I figured it had to be the cable or router (linksys). So I took another spare cable I had and connected it to my spare computer and still got nothing. So I figured it was the router. So I took the cable from the computer I was playing STO on and connected it to the port on the router that was connected to the computer that lost the connection and my computer's internet came up just fine. I started changing cables on the router (using different ports and cables) between the two working computers and the one's not working. The one's that were working (one Win7, one WinXP) in the first place continued to work and the one's that weren't working (both running WinXP) continued not to work no matter what cables and ports I switched them in. It was late and I had to head to work early in the morning so I gave up for the evening...........
I lost my connection to IE 2 nites ago. I could search anywhere on the web thru Google, just not thru IE dellnet. I also have a shortcut to dell solutions that connects to the web- it also wouldn't work. I downloaded Mozilla, and RIGHT after that IE was up and running again. However, my direct link to Dell is still missing The error message is the typical IE message: the page cannot be displayed cannot find server or DNS error. Does anyone have any ideas? Is Dell trying to tell me something?

I ran Spy Sweeper and it detected a "threat" and said it had to restart the computer, which I said "OK" to. Then it froze up, so I just turned the computer off.Now when I turn the computer back on, everything goes through normal, I get to the windows "Welcome" screen and then it goes into Windows, but the only thing that shows is my desktop background. However, since the install i have been unable to establish a continuous connection. It starts and stops for no reason at all. I have been online and it loses connection saying there is no dial tone. View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving recently had someone else using my computer for a while, installing various software (like winamp and SubEdit player) it seems windows media player (that's what I use) no longer recognises the usual files as media files like .mp3 .wmv .m3u .avi etc etc so when I click open file and select "media files (all types)" in the file type box it shows nothing, so I have to change it to all files which is irritating. Media player still plays everything fine but this is pretty annoying.

Well the point is that sometimes I get disconnect from the internet but the other computer still works online, so I have to reboot or even start up again the computer. we already RESET the router but after that, I already get twice again disconnected need to reboot again, I am missing something that I oversee and its producing this disconnection.

Then it asks me if I want to give IE permission to change these settings. Of course not (I think?). And the problem is still there. I connect with Verizon DSL, but when I go on Internet Explorer, the browser doesn't work properly- it says "Web Page Unavavailable While Offline"- what's up with that?! I have WMP,iTunes,GoldWave,Realplayer and quick Time in my Entertainment folder.Task manager does not indicate as to which application or process is being used for audio.I would like to know which program/application is in use at the time the CD is playing. Besides I do not want to disable the autoplay of the CD.

I could not back out of the download or even shut down from the START menu. I had to do so manually.Ever since, I see two boxes on Start-up: one says "TrayApp" and asks me to insert a CD-rom disk to access the program. Another says "Error 1706" and that no valid source can be found for TrayApp product. Every so often, I see a screen asking me to insert a disk for Viewpoint Media Player. My CD-rom drive is not functioning, so I couldn't do that, in any case, even if I had the disk.
