I am using the internet and all of a sudden the DSL and the Internet light start blinking. That means I lost connection in my DSL and internet.(when the lights are solid green that means they are working and have connection) When I first bought this product like 5 months ago this didnt happen to me but its been doing this for the last month.

I just bought the adapter and the router separately recently.The problem is that I can't access the internet wirelessly. I get strong signal with green lights. But when I launch Internet Explorer, the light turns red immediately and signal drops way down. So, no internet.Then the signal comes back on strong again with green lights, and everytime I launch the Internet Explorer, the light turns red again. It is just like that, on and off (green to red and red to green), for many days now.If anybody had that problem before, please help me out with your solution. I have been reading so many posts and I am lost.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HP desktop. I accidentally hit the standby button on the keyboard. It started to put my computer into standby but seems to have completely powered it down. I couldn't turn it back on at all. I've tried hitting the power button and unplugging the computer. Nothing works. There is a green light near the power cord in the back blinking and that's it. I've tried unplugging all peripherals before plugging the power back in. I've also tried unplugging it and pressing the power button a few times before plugging it back in. I just can't get it to turn back on.

My internet connection is through Comcast cable and my wifes receives the internet connection through a router. The router is a Trendnet TW 100. My wife downloads and lets others in her movie room download from her files. Once in a 24 hour period her computer loses the internet connection and disrupt either her download or upload. She has been told it is the router but I opened it and do not see any shut down instruction in it. Does anyone have an idea why this happens every 24 hours and how to fix it,
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had fiber optics for about 6 months now. I had cable access before that. I have three computers set up in my home in three different locations. All three are hardwired to a linksys router. A few nights ago one of my roommates told me she lost her internet connection. I was on mine at the time playing STO and I was having no problems. I checked with my other roommate and her internet connection was fine also. So I went to the room where the connection was out and asked her if she changed anything, she said no. I restarted the computer, still the connection was out. I checked the cable where it was exposed from the wall it looked fine. Now I noticed that the desk was sitting on the cable, but it still looked fine. So I went and got my spare computer that I keep as a back-up and brought it to the room that was out. I connected it and turned it on and the spares internet connection was down also (I just had the internet running on the spare earlier that day).
So I figured it had to be the cable or router (linksys). So I took another spare cable I had and connected it to my spare computer and still got nothing. So I figured it was the router. So I took the cable from the computer I was playing STO on and connected it to the port on the router that was connected to the computer that lost the connection and my computer's internet came up just fine. I started changing cables on the router (using different ports and cables) between the two working computers and the one's not working. The one's that were working (one Win7, one WinXP) in the first place continued to work and the one's that weren't working (both running WinXP) continued not to work no matter what cables and ports I switched them in. It was late and I had to head to work early in the morning so I gave up for the evening...........
I lost my connection to IE 2 nites ago. I could search anywhere on the web thru Google, just not thru IE dellnet. I also have a shortcut to dell solutions that connects to the web- it also wouldn't work. I downloaded Mozilla, and RIGHT after that IE was up and running again. However, my direct link to Dell is still missing The error message is the typical IE message: the page cannot be displayed cannot find server or DNS error. Does anyone have any ideas? Is Dell trying to tell me something?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem started when I was listening to iTunes, and all of a sudden I lost my internet connection. I checked the Network Connections but it said I was still connected. I ran Spy Sweeper and it detected a "threat" and said it had to restart the computer, which I said "OK" to. Then it froze up, so I just turned the computer off.Now when I turn the computer back on, everything goes through normal, I get to the windows "Welcome" screen and then it goes into Windows, but the only thing that shows is my desktop background. No icons, no start button, no toolbar.I can however, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and run new tasks that way

When you type an alphabet letter or number, there's always a little blinking line after the letter, or if you want to start a new line, you would hit the "enter" key and this little blinker moves to the beginning of the next line so you'll know where the next letter you type will be. When you hit the space bar it moves one digit to the right.
My problem is that this little blinker is so small and light, it gets lost in the background. The question is, what is the name of this little blinker and how do I make it a little bigger and darker. I found the one for the mouse cursor/pointer/i-beam but can't find the name of this other blinker.
This one of the stranger things I've run accross and I'm having difficulty figuring it out. When the computer is connected to the internet via a DSL modem the start menu runs extremely slow. When the modem is off it acts normal. The computer is not mine but a colleges who has asked me if I've run accross this before and I'm a bit dumbfounded. He has adware and norton anitvirus running. Hasn't found anything on his computer.

I also lost these 2 entries from the quick launch bar on the left, beside the START button. Obviously IE is still on the system because I'm here.
I have the monitor turned on. I hit the power button on my pc, it powers on. However, the monitor still flashes with the "testing screen" or whatever with the color bars floating around. Also, my reset button light is constantly lit. And finally , the lights on my keyboard flash rapidly and never stop until I turn my pc off.

I have to reset the cable modem and then it works for another 10-20 minutes until the next cut. Ive had this problem before (last time i changed computers) but cant remember how it was resolved. I already talked to my ISP support but these guys are brain damaged or something and cannot even comprehend my problem and all 3 actually concluded that i had somehow contracted some killer virus immediately after connecting my computer and this virus was the root of my problems

to create their dialup connection to the internet, I couldn't.I went into the 'Internet Connection Wizard'. Told it that I was connecting directly to the internet. Then I told it I was going to set up the connection manually. But whenever the option comes up to setup a dial-up or broadband connection, the dial-up option is greyed out and unselectable.In device manager, it shows my modem as being fine. It's installed with no conflicts.
I got a Toshiba with windows XP.. Its an older laptop and runs slow.. which is fine for what i need it for.. It is connected through a Dlink Cable modem. Recently moved and had a DSL connection of 3 years no problems. Had to switch to cable broadband. The lights all light up solid no problem. Network cable connected to no problem. Unplug netowkr cable from cable modem (get the network cabled unplugged in windows, so it is seing the modem or atleast talking to it)Tried using the windows xp network srtup wizard. I did that hub one (connected thourhg a hub) and i tried the direct connection (goes from modem to computer).
My son had his Dell laptop at college and was using their wireless network successfully. He came home last week and tried using his laptop on our home wireless network (w/Linksys router). He said he was not able to always connect so he tried to set up (configure, repair) the wireless connection himself (always a dangerous thing to do).Now he gets no internet at all (IE always goes into 'offline' mode) under Windows XP home.I've tried to trouble shoot the connection but so far I have been unsuccessful. The laptop can see the wireless network (it shows as available and connected). There is something wrong with the network connection that IE uses but I don't know how to go about fixing it.

I had him re-install windows xp by hitting F8, working our way to get the pc to even see the install cd, it seemed to fix the booting up problem, he lost everything (personal files etc) but at least windows came up, and seemed to be functional until... now he can't connect to the internet, there's nothing in his network connections, tried the wizard, no luck, seems like the pc lost the ability to ADD a connection
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.

After this my internet stopped working do you think it was because of the file. If so, what can I do to get it back and if not what can I do to connect to the internet. Everything was fine until a few days ago when my connection speed dramatically slowed after being online for a few hours. This happens to all of the PCs in my home - so it's nothing internal to my PC. I tried to transfer a large file across the wireless network and it transferred fine (5Mb in 10 seconds). I can also connect to the router's web management software without problem. So it's not the wireless connection. Which leaves either my modem/router or my broadband connection. The router's "DSL" light is always on which infers that my broadband connection is OK. So that leaves my modem/router.
One of the most frustrating things to have with a computer is a slow internet connection and 56K is about as slow as it gets these days. I feel the pain that 56K users have and hope that by following this thread they can experience a faster more reliable internet connection. There are a few things that one must understand prior to tweaking their 56K connections. The first is that it is actually a 53.3K connection since that is the speed that the FCC limits you to, on top of that most dialup users actually connect in the 40,000 – 50,000K range, which is excellent by dialup standards.

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP home due to corruption of files but previous to that my internet connection did not work. However, since the install i have been unable to establish a continuous connection. It starts and stops for no reason at all. I have been online and it loses connection saying there is no dial tone. A connection can be lost/found for no particular reason.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a dell 4600 dimension operating on windows XP, and my ISP is optimum cable. It's been coming on slowly, but my connection to the internet, via internet explorer is extremely slow. I also experience long waits opeing new windows, or attachments from a site, as well as rply and fwd on E-mail. Once connected moving from site to site is normal speed, but as stated other openings take up to 2-3 minutes to connect. My ISP says my connection is fine, but I do get a connectivity icon on occasion, causing me to click repair, and it goes away.
