turn on the PC and find my mouse stopped working. I plugged in my pen tablet to use it as a mouse instead, and noticed the tablet driver stopped functioning too (I can still use it as a mouse, but it doesn't work as well without the driver). I then tried to connect to the internet to diagnose the problem, but the net isn't working. I restarted my router and modem, but no progress.

My internet connection is through Comcast cable and my wifes receives the internet connection through a router. The router is a Trendnet TW 100. My wife downloads and lets others in her movie room download from her files. Once in a 24 hour period her computer loses the internet connection and disrupt either her download or upload. She has been told it is the router but I opened it and do not see any shut down instruction in it. Does anyone have an idea why this happens every 24 hours and how to fix it,
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had fiber optics for about 6 months now. I had cable access before that. I have three computers set up in my home in three different locations. All three are hardwired to a linksys router. A few nights ago one of my roommates told me she lost her internet connection. I was on mine at the time playing STO and I was having no problems. I checked with my other roommate and her internet connection was fine also. So I went to the room where the connection was out and asked her if she changed anything, she said no. I restarted the computer, still the connection was out. I checked the cable where it was exposed from the wall it looked fine. Now I noticed that the desk was sitting on the cable, but it still looked fine. So I went and got my spare computer that I keep as a back-up and brought it to the room that was out. I connected it and turned it on and the spares internet connection was down also (I just had the internet running on the spare earlier that day).
So I figured it had to be the cable or router (linksys). So I took another spare cable I had and connected it to my spare computer and still got nothing. So I figured it was the router. So I took the cable from the computer I was playing STO on and connected it to the port on the router that was connected to the computer that lost the connection and my computer's internet came up just fine. I started changing cables on the router (using different ports and cables) between the two working computers and the one's not working. The one's that were working (one Win7, one WinXP) in the first place continued to work and the one's that weren't working (both running WinXP) continued not to work no matter what cables and ports I switched them in. It was late and I had to head to work early in the morning so I gave up for the evening...........
I lost my connection to IE 2 nites ago. I could search anywhere on the web thru Google, just not thru IE dellnet. I also have a shortcut to dell solutions that connects to the web- it also wouldn't work. I downloaded Mozilla, and RIGHT after that IE was up and running again. However, my direct link to Dell is still missing The error message is the typical IE message: the page cannot be displayed cannot find server or DNS error. Does anyone have any ideas? Is Dell trying to tell me something?

I ran Spy Sweeper and it detected a "threat" and said it had to restart the computer, which I said "OK" to. Then it froze up, so I just turned the computer off.Now when I turn the computer back on, everything goes through normal, I get to the windows "Welcome" screen and then it goes into Windows, but the only thing that shows is my desktop background. There are no errors and nothing happens to indicate that it just stopped recognizing it, but when I click a link or Internet Explorer it gives me the "Can not connect to this page" or send me to my ISP's modem page, which shows that I'm connected. It then proceeds to pop up a message that says:Windows Display Driver Stopped Responding..That's the only part of the message I could write down before it rebooted. I have to reset the cable modem and then it works for another 10-20 minutes until the next cut. Ive had this problem before (last time i changed computers) but cant remember how it was resolved. to create their dialup connection to the internet, I couldn't.I went into the 'Internet Connection Wizard'. Told it that I was connecting directly to the internet. Then I told it I was going to set up the connection manually. But whenever the option comes up to setup a dial-up or broadband connection, the dial-up option is greyed out and unselectable.In device manager, it shows my modem as being fine. It's installed with no conflicts.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy mouse keeps hanging up and clock loses time when not running in safe mode. Not just the mouse really, but nothing at all works. When I boot normally (not into safe mode), windows can take forever to load due to this. On last boot my clock lost 10 out of 15 minutes uptime and I had to manually power off even then. I am running Windows XP Service pack 2 on a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ system with 1214 mb mem 150 gig hdd.

In response to this I attempted to use System Restore. This failed, for some reason after selecting the restore date, clicking next did nothing. I then decided to go on a deleting spree, removing all unnecessary folders, programs etc. Somewhere along the line I must not have been paying attention and deleted the i386 folder. Of course, all hell broke loose and I couldnt even log into any users be it safe mode or not (I got automatically logged out).
Now to the real problem: The setup gets to 34 minutes remaining and encounters some problems while installing devices. A number of pop up messages appear, After that last pop-up, the keyboard and mouse promptly freeze, and a final pop-up appears replacing the italics line with "Conexant D850 56K V.9x DFVc Modem". Unfortunately I now cant click yes or no, and therefore cant continue with the setup.
I finally got my new PC but I have an issue that's bugging me. When I have been copying lots of files to my main drive or any other HD intensive operation like installing software, mp3s I'm listening to judder and the mouse cursor momentarily freezes or if im copying gigs and gigs the system slows down so much that i just cant do anything else. I am running xp pro x64 and have a mirrored raid setup using two 320 gig drives. I have 4 gigs of ram and a core2 6600. I've never had this problem on my 2 year old other pc. I'm sure there is some kind of configuration problem but ill be damned if i know what it is.
