I have a Logitech M305 wireless USB mouse that my XP won't recognize on any port. However MY XP recognizes my wired USB mouse and printer, and scanner. The M305 works fine on my other machines?
View 3 RepliesI took my daughters Gateway M320 laptop and did a restore from the CDs that came with the laptop. After doing all the Microsoft Updates, ALL the wireless driver installs from Gateway there is no 'Wireless Network Connection' icon. I have also checked Device Manager and there is no wireless adapter. Before this exercise she was running wireless fine. It does work 'hard wired' but no wireless icon.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI had to reinstall windows XP because my OS would not load and I got all the drivers reinstalled, diagnostic ran smooth and everything came up working ok etc but my device manager won't recognize anything! The compy says my audio mixers are not there, my USB devices are not working, hardware wizard is not responding, microsoft updates are not working, Dell's driver downloads are calling out for something that isn't there and I really need this fixed ASAP so I can get to my external HD.

This message seems to trigger two problems: (1) the sound is not working, and (2) the wireless connection does not work after my computer goes into hibernation--I have to do a complete reboot to get the internet back.The second message says "Anti-Spyware | Unexpected Problem was encountered. Error #: 0x80004003.I assume these messages are related but I'm not sure.

I tried installing it, but it doesn't seem like it works. My built in wireless doesn't work, I don't have the quick launch buttons, and I don't have sound. I have a Compaq Presario C700, so can anyone tell me how to fix my wireless internet, sound, etc and tell me how to get the drivers. I tried the hp website, but for some reason when i install those drivers, they install and it says its running but my wireless internet still doesnt work. On my device manager, on network adapters, i only have Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC.

I have to keep moving mouse up and down and around in circles until cursor finally locks on and I can then point it to where I want to go. Needless to say this is really frustrating.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got a new graphics card today. So I went to Add/Remove programs, and removed the Nvidia driver. I rebooted the PC as requested. After rebooting PC (keeping the same graphics card in) the black Windows logo screen took much longer than usual. Then when it finished so that I could click on my profile, I couldn't, the mouse nor the keyboard are functioning. I tried a different mouse and keyboard. I unplugged my computer and restarted, I tried in safe mode and the same thing. The keyboard works at the BIOS screen because I can get into the BIOS and select safemode as needed.

I am on a laptop and whenever I disconnect from my dock (wired connection)it automatically closes any open folders connected to a network drive.My wireless kicks in a few seconds later, and I have to go through the trouble reopening them all!Is there a registry setting I can set to prevent this?If I turn the PC on outside of work, it doesn't connect these drives, and thus will prevent them from showing even when I go in and connect to the network. I have to connect them MANUALLY every time.

Today, my computer shows that my wireless card is working properly but it is not finding any wireless networks in range, which is wrong. Yesterday, while at my apartment, I could see 9 networks, today I see none. When I go to the coffee shop, it does not see that network either. Right now I am sitting at my school and it is not picking up the network in here either. Everyone else around is picking up the network, just not me. I have checked everything and cannot figure out what the problem is. I have a Compaq Presario R3000Z, running on an AMD Athlon XP Processor (3000+), 800 MHz and 2 GB Ram. Running XP Pro w/Srvc. Pack 2.
My internal network card is a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. I even uninstalled this and rebooted and after reload, it still does not want to pick up any of the networks. Any ideas where I can start? Already tried the program that fixes corrupt TCP/IP drivers (WinSock XP) and it did not work. Again, nothing was changed prior to this problem. All the settings are the way they have been for the last 3 years.

Can only get to the welcome screen then keyboard and mouse wont work; both are usb of course as this Dell has no PS2 ports. I have loaded another copy of xp home and can boot into it ok and see the other installation ok too. From within this second copy of xp have run chkdsk and also have run chkdsk from (2nd XP Home CD) recovery consul.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy computer wasn't recognizing my CD-RW drive, so I opened up 'regedit' to delete the upper and lower filters from the drive. Well, I deleted the wrong filters. The next time Windows loaded up, it failed to recognize the mouse and the keyboard (!!!). So I basically have a paralyzed computer - I can't do anything with it. I know that reinstalling Windows would solve the problem, but I'm looking for a way to take care of this without losing all of my files. I know it's possible .

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I try to start puter first the mouse dont work any more. I had a Logitech MX 510. IT lights up but wont work. Installed a Radio shack mouse worked for a little it. Then it shuts down too. I try to start computer and tap on F8 key or DEL key sometimes it works an sometimes not if it works I am good for a little bit. 15min to 30 min then lock up. If i get into safe mode its ok until about the same 15min to 30 min. If F8 and DEL keys dont work It starts the process and then gets to floppy disk and fails. It say Floppy Disk Fail (40). I have checked and the fans are working and thats not a problem Hard drives work and 1.5 GB ram and thats ok too. So stumped and wondering if I can fix it or not.

View 11 Replies View RelatedThrough out the day, I have my computer on. Many times... whether I am using the computer at that moment, or if I leave and come back later... my screen will be frozen. The mouse moves, but nothing on the screen can be clicked. Also, control alt delete works as well, so I have found that if I go into the applications tab and open a new task and open/refresh "explorer" everything will start working again.

I came home today to turn it on, and the only thing that happens is the fans both work, the cd drive lights come on, the power button light comes on, and the orange cpu light comes on. After a few seconds the cd lights flash again, and they repeat this process. The screen, keyboard, and mouse do not work. The monitor stays black the whole time. It has windows xp on it. I got it at Best buy, but it is out of warranty. It seems as if the computer continually restarts?
View 14 Replies View Relatedthe problem is, my mouse and keyboard are not working in that OS, so i cant do a damn thing, so luckily i have another OS installed on the second partition (which is where im writing from right now) and i was thinking, maybe i can export that key, as a reg-file and then just click on it, fixing the whole issue. Bad thinking, because i have nothing to click it with, no mouse, no keyboard! And its saved, right there on the desktop!!!So to my question, is there any way to add that key to the other OS registry from this OS, or maybe is there a way to activate the export-file at startup or something? maybe with DOS?

My mouse won't "pick up" any of them, on my desktop or within a folder. I can drag program windows around, so I don't think it's an issue with my mouse. I want to set up 2 users for this laptop. myself and my daughter. I have it set with myself as the admin and her as a user. I want to be able to limit the amount of damage she does to the poor thing. My main question is how to set up certain programs to work and not work for her. I have one program music match that works in admin but not on user even though it seems to say it will work for users. From what I have seen from this operating system its not real easy to set it up. I have a book from the library but its a que and not good for me. Any advise on a good book would be great. I know it would be easier to use xp or win 2000 pro but thats not nearly challenging enough for me.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0, have installed the intellipoint 5.0 software prior to connecting the mouse. Plugged in the receiver and all worked fine for a while. The pointer moves to the middle of the left side of the screen and then acts like it is on an elastic band. As you try to move anywhere, always returning to the middle left of screen, making the mouse unuseable. Found the software update to 5.2, uninstalled 5.0 and installed 5.2, again worked fine to start then problem arose again.I am as happy as you can be that there are no known viruses/trojans etc etc.
I have completed the mouse software/registry removal as per Microsoft Knowledge base for xp and re-installed 5.2, fine in the first instance but again after an undertermined time problem was back again.Thought it may be a faulty mouse so have had it exchanged, again fine for a while but then problem back again. So have decided it MUST be software oriented. Have removed rubbish from the system and the registry, on reboot fine for a while then problem back again. Have tried the USB and PS2 connections with the same result for both. Connected a standard cabelled PS2 mouse and it works fine. I have also tried moving the receiver unit to various places within its cable range to see if it is suffering interference from monitors etc, no difference seen. Likewise pressing the button on the receiver and mouse to resync them makes no difference.
