i bought a new road adventures USA game and it says it will work for windows XP, Me, and 98 but my computer is a windows 7 so will this game work on my computer or not? i cannot open it and see if it works because if i do and it dosen't work i will not be able to return it.

okay at first this wasn't too anoying but now it is a major problem at first it was just that when i went to windows update it would get stuck in the thing where it says that it is checking for the latest updates.to try and solve this issue i did these things:i ran windows update for 3 days straight and didn't do anything on my computer (it was stuck in the screen i mentioned before)i reinstalled windows, but for some reason the problem carried over a friend of mine told me about windows defender and that it was free, so i installed it and behold it uses windows to update and im stuck with the bare bones of the program.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy parents tried installing NAV 2005, and also the new Turbo Tax Deluxe. On both installation occurances the installation fails. I assumed it was a virus, because you cannot get to the windows update site, or the panda active scan site in internet explorer. I have ran spybot and adaware and also AVG virus software. they all found something related to internet explorer. So i tried reinstalling norton but it fails again when it gets to the same point, subscription confirmation shows on the installation window. anyways... i have found from messing around that the search function doesn't work, also i cannot edit user accounts. this computer does not have SP2, but is up to date otherwise. I would dl SP2, because maybe this is a problem from not having it, but i cannot get to the windows update site, and the automatic update will not work as i said before.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis e-mail does sound interesting enough for me to give Windows 7 a try once I wipe out Windows XP from this computer. I do have the back up CD for Windows XP so all will not be lost. I have a 3 GHZ processor and 3 GHZ for RAM with a 500 GB hard drive. This should be enough to run Windows 7 without to much of a problem.

View 12 Replies View RelatedDid a repair install, everything is working except windows updates, it says I have updates and I can click on custom and it shows them when I click to install them it acts like it will then a box comes up and say they all failed. I turned off auto updates and went to the site and click on custom and they came up but the same thing won't install did it with express install to and its the same,. Any one know what could be wring, one update it needs is the windows validation update I know the disk is valid it came with the machine and it retook the product number when I did the repair install.

I have synced my mp3 upto windows media player as the software that came with my mp3 dosen't work that well.The problem i have with the windows player is that it won't allow me to drag items across so that i can get the songs on to the player.

I want to set up 2 users for this laptop. myself and my daughter. I have it set with myself as the admin and her as a user. I want to be able to limit the amount of damage she does to the poor thing. My main question is how to set up certain programs to work and not work for her. I have one program music match that works in admin but not on user even though it seems to say it will work for users. From what I have seen from this operating system its not real easy to set it up. I have a book from the library but its a que and not good for me. Any advise on a good book would be great. I know it would be easier to use xp or win 2000 pro but thats not nearly challenging enough for me.

I also changed the operating system that is from vista to XP but the problem persisted. It did not stop on that only, the DVD-ROM also failed to read DVDs.

So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.

You can attempt to repair this faile by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.Select 'r' at the first secreen to start repair.The only cd-rom that came with the laptop is the Toshiba Recovery and Application/ Drivers DVD.When i place this in the laptop I dont get a select 'r' option. Is this the right cd or what do i need to do to fix this?

Used their internet connection. did nothing other than use the connection for the phone go into email etc. I unplugged it on Saturday, ran ccleaner and put pc to sleep.Mom and Dad come home and PC won't work. Apparently there is nothing left on pc. windows needing to be reinstalled. not sure what I asking but since it was wiped out no way to find out what the heck happened, is there? network. I want to be able to get 2 private ip address at my home to allow a data and an ip phone connection. Would a VPN through cable modems work well for this? Or my other option is to use a wireless bridge, my home is about 1.5 miles from the office but has several trees that may block the signal.
They are both plugged into USB plugs, I have some on the back and 2 on the front of the PC. Maybe using each one in a different location? Right now I have the Canon 6000D set up and also PRIMO PDF that uses the printer to save in PDF mode (this is selected in the print options box at the time). It SEEMS like the Lexmark should just show up there, as a choice. Not having it set as "default".

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk so I have a OEM version of XP home from a old dell that is being replaced by my new build. Is it possible to use the reinstall disk to put xp on the new rig? I have heard that the OS will look for tags in the mobo bios and won't install if it can't find them.If it won't work would an upgrade version of xp work. They are cheaper but need verification that you own a copy of a MS operating system, could I use the OEM xp for verification.If none of this will work is there anyother way to get around buying a full version of xp home? I don't want to spend $200 on the OS if I can avoid it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOne of my machines (running xphome, sp2 and all updates) will not install the keyboard. This has only happened today. I have tried other ps2 keyboards with the same result. I keep getting 'code 39' error on boot up, that says it cannot install drivers for keyboard. It works okay on start up to let me in to CMOS, and I can F8 to get into safe mode. However, in safe mode keyboard still not working. I have tried uninstalling and letting windows reinstall on bootup, but just get 'code 39' again. Did a system restore which didn't work either.
