yes my computer restarts when i play video games or when im hearing music or watching videos i think its the video/sound card but im asking to see if i need to send it to repair or it has a solution

View 14 Replies View RelatedI deleted my old user account on my Windows XP Pro machine a few weeks ago and now I no longer have a My Music Folder or a My Videos folder. Either that or it just simply isn't showing up in the Start Menu and is hidden somewhere. Anyone care to help me figure out what's going on here and how I can fix it?

when i put in a dvd, or just a movie file, and play it, it plays fine, but it can lock up, my whole computer at total random, sometimes i can watch a whole dvd, sometimes it just locks up my comp the instant it starts playing.this started as soon as i had windows installed, i uninstalled everything that has to do with video codec's and media players, and just installed vlc player, and it still keeps on doing it.
not have system sounds played while I'm listening to music. On my old (and I do mean old: win98, 64mb ram, etc) computer when I listened to music my system sounds were muted, which was really nice. My old computer had an older soundblaster sounds card. My new computer (xp home) has onboard sound and when I listen to music I still get to hear all the system sounds, etc (ie, cards being dealt in solitaire.) Did it have something to do with my sound card on my old system?

A friend has windows XP, which he has been using as an offline thing to just do correspondence etc. He is not internet wise, and has not used internet since his son emigrated to the UK in March.. I was helping him set up internet and outlook express as he has just signed up with a wireless internet connection. We were doing a disk clean up, had eliminated all the games, music and adware files that his son had on the PC and had downloaded AVG (he had no virus protection at all and I insisted before he started using the internet we download some form of protection) and were doing a virus check ( 1900 files, over 200 virused with mainly win32/parite but a lot of trojan horses too!!!)

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that in my computer with windows xp I used to always use the thumbnail view in the windows explorer to know which videos where which and also for images. But then my computer got all screwed up and I had to reformat it and install the windows xp again and downloaded all the new service packs and stuff.But now, I go to either the windows explorer or my computer and for images I can see the thumbnails but for videos it only shows either the windows media or realplayer logo but no thumbnail image of the video. It is driving me crazy because I really need to be able to see the thumbnails in order to identity them fast instead of having to open all of them!

View 12 Replies View RelatedOk most of my games are freezing up during gameplay such as Everquest freezes up for no reason or same for Guild Wars. I think its something wrong with my computer (but no sure the problem) or it might be something wrong with the graphic card. I can telll the difference between lag of a game and the game just freezing up for no apparent reason.

I was given some info to try which I tried to no avail and then someone told me to do a Hijackthis scan Could someone please at least check out this log and see if the problem lays there as I cannot play any games etc as they are totally unplayable even if they are really old or I turn all the specs as low as possible.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows XP Pro computer running with a 2.8GHz processor with a Nvidia GeForce Fx 5500 graphics card and 512RAM. However, when I'm in the middle of a "graphics-demanding" game (like warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne), the whole computer will totally freeze. It doesn't just hang or lag but the screen freezes and i have the restart the computer using the reset button.That's not the worst of it. When the computer has rebooted it will freeze from anytime as soon as the desktop begins to load to when the desktop has already loaded. The computer will only start up normally if i just shut it off and turn it on the next day.Oh and the computer can reboot to safe mode or start up to safe mode with no problem at all.

This happened to me a few times. I tried Norton Virus Scanner, Adaware, Defragment, and System Restore. But sadly... it still doesn't work...It happened again when I was using spy bot and listening to music... what is the problem??
View 14 Replies View RelatedThe normal loading time is about 1-2 seconds. Loading time has been ranging from 2 to 45 seconds from start menu, desktop shortcuts, and Windows Explorer. All other programs load normal speed 1-4 seconds. My Documents, which I use the most often, is the worst. Doesn?t appear to depend on how many programs/windows are open or if I am on the internet. Using AVG Free antivirus-no infections found, except 20 or so level 3 cookie/yieldmanagers when loading Internet Explorer/Firefox. No recent changes to the computer. Only 5% of hard drive being used. Spybot/Adaware/AVG run every couple of days. This has been happening for 17 days, tried several previous system restore points--no effect. Defragged?although XP indicated this unnecessary. I use an APC battery backup. Scan Disk run several days ago--no problems found. This morning working normally for first time since problem began (no action taken)?yesterday loading times varied from 4-35 seconds throughout the day.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been looking into this computer restarting. I have downloaded recent drivers and updates. I looked at Microsofts suggestions. After the bsod if comes back up and the error reports says they are not sure what it is but it has something to do with antivirus.
Here is the event. It seems to happen whenever they are playing games or online. sometimes they will just go back to the desktop and the program will close.
Ok so I just fixed a computer and reinstalled the Operating System. I booted it once an installed all the drivers again then restart it. Upon doing so it failed to boot the operating system. I rebooted it again and said start Windows in safe mode. This results in the Windows XP loading screen appearing but when it goes away the whole system restarts. The same thing happens no matter what I select on the "Windows did not start up last time" screen.

If I try to open it up in safe mode via msconfig from run, it just restarts the computer in normal mode. If I try F8, same thing.I get a "your system has recovered from a seriour error" every time the computer restarts. When I dig for details on the error, this is what it says.
