I have just removed Vista from my PC and re-formatted my hard drive, before installing XP. When I try to playback any video, it opens the player, tried both mediaplayer and nero showtime, then freezes the entire PC. Have loaded all the usual codecs but still no joy
View 2 RepliesWhenever I play a movie or try to put a TV or video signal into my computer the resulting image is all washed out like the gamma is up way too high. They play Ok on my laptop and sound is OK just image.I am running Windows XP home, service 2, on a P41800, 512mbRAM and Nvidia 128mb GeForce FX5200. I have recently installed SP2 but not sure if has coincided with this problem or not. I have the latest version of Windows Media Player and all the XP updates from Windows Update. Also have latest Nvidia drivers

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my 2x 512mb RAM for a brand new 2x 1GB sticks. After that I'm having random crashes when playing video sometimes even mp3 on winamp but mostly on Video playback. I'm having no problem playing games I can play for hours and it wont crash. Watching embedded video on firefox no problem as well. I've done some testing it happens sometimes when I try to play a video doesn't matter if its .avi, .wmv, .mkv, a lot of times when I try to pause or stop the video and most of the time when the video is playing and I close the player.Now I've tried different players VLC, WMP classic, WMP 10,11 also tried different Nvidia Drivers ranging from 80.xx to the latest 175.16 with no luck. I've attached minidumps and a bugcheck on the latest minidump.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive recently got corrupted and I had to install WP XP Home, instead of XP Professional that I had previously. After installation and downloading WMP, I was unable to play any MPEG files that previously worked. WMP gives me the following error - C00D11B1. Even the files thumbnails dont look the same (currently look like generic files). However, the MPEGs work fine when I play them in Quicktime and even iTunes. I downloaded/bought a plug-in from the WMP website which I think gives me MPEG-2 decoder/DVD software etc. However, I think that relates to DVD play etc, while I am more concerned about the videos from my Sony Digital Camera which still dont work. Am I missing any drivers etc that I need to download? Btw music files work fine, and this only relates to videos.

I uninstalled WMP9, which caused it to revert to WMP 6.4.
I got that "Media Player Classic" that looks like WMP, and it worked for a little while, but now it just freezes any time I try to play a WMV.
whenever i play anything with sound the audio is distorted and scratchy. i have no clue how to fix it...i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver but that has not corrected the problem. as far as i know i am using a realtek audio driver thats built into my motherboard. i dont know if it matters but i am using a dell inspiron e1505.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLately when I have gone to play java games, at sites like pogo and some other I have not been able to do so. As soon as the game starts to load, the browser crashes. I have both Firefox 1.5.0.6 and the most recent version of IE and the same thing happens in both cases. It has always worked before, and no changes have been made to the system recently. I have SUN Java and it says it is the most recent version when I check for updates.

Every now and then, sometimes when selecting Media player, I get a BSOD with the following error.DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop: 0x00000001 Cmaudio.sys Address F73DE878 Base F73CB000 the only thing I can pick up on is the cmaudio.sys part which is something to do with my soundcard, but thats as far as I can get with it.

I have used windows media player9, windows media player classic and nero. The video box opens fine and playback occurs on the laptop but I get a purple screen in the video box on the tv. resolution has been changed from 600x800 to 1024x768 with no change in video display.

Whenever I click to go into my fonts folder, you know c:windowsfonts, it freezes,it just gets stuck there, an I need access.When this was working, downloaded fonts only worked at the time i placed them in.The .ttf file stayed in the fonts folder, but when I came logged on at another time after logging off/shuting down, the font was no longer in the drop down lists in the Microsoft programs/photoshop, and like i said was still in the fonts folder.
This all started out that I was having a microphone audio recording problem the other day and was trying to solve that...A couple of days ago, I did a complete HP System Restore on my computer to try to fix the problem, not realizing that it would do all that it did to my computer. View 6 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that in my computer with windows xp I used to always use the thumbnail view in the windows explorer to know which videos where which and also for images. But then my computer got all screwed up and I had to reformat it and install the windows xp again and downloaded all the new service packs and stuff.But now, I go to either the windows explorer or my computer and for images I can see the thumbnails but for videos it only shows either the windows media or realplayer logo but no thumbnail image of the video. It is driving me crazy because I really need to be able to see the thumbnails in order to identity them fast instead of having to open all of them!

Few days back when I tried to play the game" Texas Holdem Poker 3D deluxe edition" my suddenly turned off (Not Restart). This happened after 10 min or so. Whenever I tried to play the game my PC turned off. I thought there was a problem with the game. But yesterday when I tried an old game Brian Lara Cricket 99 SE (a 3D game) after playing for 8-10 min my pc turned off again. This happens every time I try to play. When i would try to play a game for example; i would press and hold w to walk and my computer would freeze until i let go, stopping all the video and sound. After trying this for about 20 times I decided to try something else.The PC had win98 on it so it was working .i loaded the pc with winxp pro but an older edition.It does not include any service packs .and seems to be running fine.Then I loaded servicepack one and still no problems with XP After loading the second service pack the pc hanged again at the startup.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been away at University and have since come back and my parents are having some problems with one of the computers at home.Basically when using the computer Windows will just completely freeze up randomly, the mouse will stop moving, the keyboard will stop moving, and the clock will stop. As this happens, a noise comes from the computer which sounds the same as one of the noises when I turn the computer on, but it repeats a couple of times. It's a more mechanical whirring noise rather than an electronic beep or anything like that. It's very hard to explain - sort of like a build up of 'whirring-ness' and then a click (x I was wondering if this could be a hard drive problem for one - although I have done some diagnostics on the drive with SpeedFan and everything seems to look fine.
