Its strange my videos are multicolored like a rainbow some of them are and some of them aren't could it be a codec problem? can anybody help i haven't been on the computer scene for a long time
View 4 RepliesI have a refurbished IBM T40 laptop. I don't remember dropping it, but each time I move slightly if I am not working on a hard surface, the system freezes with a bunch of multi colored lines. Sometimes vertical or horizontal or mixed.

I did that and followed the correct steps. And rebooted. I then installed Norton Internet Security with AntiVirus without any noted problem. View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I reinstalled the OS on my computer. It was shipped with Windows XP HE SP2, but I formatted and put Win98 onto the system. Needless to say, it froze up at the Windows splash screen. So, I uninstalled it and put XP back on. My question here is, is there any possible way to put Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows XP all on one hard drive, and it work? I know how to partition the hard drive accordingly for the deed, it's getting the computer to actually run 95, 98, and 3.1. I'm cheating fate here, since I know 3.1 probably won't run on my 32-bit structure system, but it's worth a try. My system is a Dell Dimension 4700 with 3.0 gHz CPU, 256 mb of RAM, and an nVidia 64 mb video card.

If I drag a document to the right of my screen, it comes in clearer.Today, however, I just started experiencing this color changing thing, I don't know what its all about.I will see everything change colors, like a rainbow, from left to right. At first, this rainbow of colors is very bold, then this strange TILTING thing happens. I have my browser opened now and when this happens, it appears as if the monitor is re-adjusting itself, the browser window tilts right, then left then straightens out and then the colors dim a bit. But this RAINBOW deal is still here.

When in this phase, it does this about once every 5 seconds. So, to be clear, it stays in its normal arrow shape, but fills w/ moving color bands rather than the standard white.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot a second hand Dell CPx P3, 650mhz, Win2000, 256 ram,20g hd...the laptop runs great and i really like it *EXCEPT - SIGH* ...i edit ALOT of photos using photoshop (which i have not loaded yet).As it turns out that my problem is the screen, even at the startup has yellowing lines running horizontally to the right of all visible icons, words, pictures etc. I put a photo cd into the drive and the pictures are very distorted, it looks as if they have been totally over sharpened.

I have a fresh install of XP Pro in an old machine running an Athlon XP 3000+ on an ASUS A7V8X MB with 1.25G of memory. Bios & drivers are current. Every time I launch a DVD the system freezes completely. I can open the viewer, either VLC or WMP but as soon as the DVD begins to open it freezes. The CPU is not overclocked and the machine runs OK otherwise.

I have some avi videos I wish to convert to DVD and burn. I used to use this program called ********* AVI to DVD which would convert the avi file and then automatically burn it to a dvd. However after a reinstall of my OS and reinstalling the program i tried loading an avi file and I get this error:"Avi2Mpeg Main has encountered an error and needs to close."I've tried reinstalling the program and making sure I have all the codecs needed but still no luck.

I've been using English an Japanese on my PC and this never happened.I used the Microsoft Office 2003 Language Setting to "add" Japanese and it's been running fine. But today, all the sudden, the Language Tool Bar disappeared. Language Tool Bar = The bar appears automatically on the screen when you are using multi languages on the PC.If the Language Tool Bar is in inactive, it's restored on the Left-Bottom of the screen. Eng for English, Jp for Japanese. So I tried removing the settings and re-added, re-started, nothing happened. Also I tried Control Panel, Regions and Language Setting, added Japanese (it was already added), nothing happens.In fact, if I see the current settings, there are English and Japanese there! I tried Spybot and Ad-aware to see if any problem. Then re-started, result, same. Updated IE to 7.0, result, same.I didn't change any settings today, no new downloads or installations before this problem occurred.

I've never downloaded a video from LimeWire that I can recall, only music. Anyway, these 2 files will not delete when I right-click and try to select delete. There is no delete on the right-click list, the files CANNOT be dragged into any other folder including the Recycle Bin
View 3 Replies View Relatedeverytime i try to see a movie in a website (like a movie trailer) or a website that has music (a friend's network for example). it asks me "click to run an activex control on this website" and i have to accept each time. it gets a bit annoying. i dont think i had this before so maybe something changed in my settings that makes me accept this each time. in addition, i tried to go to internet option>security>custom and enable all the activex plugin options... but i still get the same window asking me ro run activex. i have also realized that in some websites like mojoflix.com (similar to Internet) i cannot even see any videos anymore. there is a small red x (inside a white square) on the top left corner. any idea of what we might have changed that does not allow me to see this videos and asks me for activex verification in other sites?

After that I'm having random crashes when playing video sometimes even mp3 on winamp but mostly on Video playback. I'm having no problem playing games I can play for hours and it wont crash. Watching embedded video on firefox no problem as well. I've done some testing it happens sometimes when I try to play a video doesn't matter if its .avi, .wmv, .mkv, a lot of times when I try to pause or stop the video and most of the time when the video is playing and I close the player.Now I've tried different players VLC, WMP classic, WMP 10,11 also tried different Nvidia Drivers ranging from 80.xx to the latest 175.16 with no luck. I've attached minidumps and a bugcheck on the latest minidump.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have to do a complete wipe and reinstallation of XP. It runs slow,reasons unknown. Anyway, on the old system, we had 2 users, both with administrative privileges. I need to know whether multiple users will cause the performance to drop in a major way. I understand the answer is yes IF both users remain active with programs running. But, we close our programs and log off completely when we switch users. Will multiple users on a system bog it down if only one user has programs running and the other user is logged off?

They play Ok on my laptop and sound is OK just image.I am running Windows XP home, service 2, on a P41800, 512mbRAM and Nvidia 128mb GeForce FX5200. I have recently installed SP2 but not sure if has coincided with this problem or not. I have the latest version of Windows Media Player and all the XP updates from Windows Update. Also have latest Nvidia drivers

View 7 Replies View RelatedI turn on my computer and everything looks fine at first.I see my desktop properly.Then when I try to play any movie files the image that it projects is sort of chopped up. I also happend to notice that when I browse some webpages JPG images appear distorted as well.Then when I try to play video files such as WMV, AVI, MPG and more... some of them appear distorted AND the audio sounds horrible.It's all scratchy like.But MP3s work fine as do WMAs... I'm so totally lost. I've tried a system restore, restarting my computer, changing my video properties (i.e. 32bit to 16bit and even lowering resolution) none of those worked.

1) Firstly when it is switched on it asks to choose between either windows 98 or windows 2000 pro (the one i want to use)
2) On loading up windows 2000 it works fine however when i try to use many options such as; volume control, disk cleanup, msconfig, majority of .exe files etc it says "access to file denied" or "cannot find the file "xxx". make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available" - this is despite the file it is looking for being the one I want to use.
3) On searching futher I noticed that in my computer along with the usual WINDOWS directory. I have 2 other operating system folders in their entirity. WindowsNT and Windows 98 - I think that having all systems on my computer must be reason for it not working
4) I have tried to uninstall windows 98 using its own uninstall program however get the message "cannont find "xxx" etc
5) I have a feeling the windowsNT is just cd contents and ahs not been setup properly and could therefore simply deleted but I ahve not done so just in case
6) If i begin the laptop ion windows 98 much more works, including sound etc, however the uninstall still does not.
7) Misc problem - I cannot install any more programs when running windows 2000.
Everything was lovely with my boot.ini file,I have XP Home, XP Pro, Longhorn and Windows 98SE. All on one hard drive, different partitions, of course.I installed Windows ME ( not sure what gave me that brilliant idea)and now my boot menu is messed up. It initially eliminated 98 and put Windows ME there, so I added 98 back, but if I choose 98 it still goes to ME, which is on an external hard drive. I installed ME by booting with a 98 bootdisk with cdrom support, and installed ME to the external drive.Is there any way of getting my 98 boot option back? 98 is still on my main drive, I can see it, I just can't boot to it
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive recently got corrupted and I had to install WP XP Home, instead of XP Professional that I had previously. After installation and downloading WMP, I was unable to play any MPEG files that previously worked. WMP gives me the following error - C00D11B1. Even the files thumbnails dont look the same (currently look like generic files). However, the MPEGs work fine when I play them in Quicktime and even iTunes. I downloaded/bought a plug-in from the WMP website which I think gives me MPEG-2 decoder/DVD software etc. However, I think that relates to DVD play etc, while I am more concerned about the videos from my Sony Digital Camera which still dont work. Am I missing any drivers etc that I need to download? Btw music files work fine, and this only relates to videos.
