I need to backup my pre-configured computer (drivers/XP) its a dell laptop, and i got no drivers -CD's- with it. What is the best way to make a duplicate copy of the harddrive (3 gugs)as I'm going to get a nre Hard drive soon?

After I burned the cd, I inserted the disc on my laptop. I screen comes up and I see the powerpoint icon. When I click the icon it says "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application"

Asus A8S-X Socket 939 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 CPU
Biostar GeForce 7300 LE supp. 256MB PCIe
I used the old hard drive which was loaded with windows XP pro and when the system was ready, I configured all the new drivers. I'm afraid I have some corrupt system files but really don't know how to proceed to take care of it.
OS : windows XP Pro sp3Problem : We have a machine that has lost Scanner and Camera wizard from autoplay a few days ago after we moved this PC from a local Workgroup to a Domain. After moving it to the domain with the new user, we copied the Windows profile from the old local user to to the new domain user. We currently do not have any group policies configured to disable auto play. When I log in with the username into the old local account the Wizard pops up fine. It is something related to the user/profile change. When we plug the camera into the computer autoplay works and recognises that the camera has pictures but there are no options to transfer pictures in the pop up box. i have tried a a few reg edits , we do not have Real Player, No luck with Windows autoplay repair wizard either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the Microsoft Fingerprint reader to run on my Windows XP MCE system It works fine for the most part, but I can seem to change any settings for a previously configured logon page When I reach a logon page which I have set up to use the fingerprint reader, an icon appears in the title bar next to the minimze/restore buttons. The flyover help says I can click on the icon to edit the signon information for
this page. However, when I click this icon, all I get is a dialog with the hightlighted fingers just telling me to use one to signon.Am I missing something? How do you edit signon information for a previously

View 3 Replies View Relatedafter messing around with several backup programs, Paragon has proved to be the most practical HOWEVER when I select to backup my C partition it wants to back up over 8 GIGS of data. Converting gig to meg and seeing as CD's can hold only 700mb that's about fifteen CD's that I'm going to have to use! I don't even think that there's a Flash drive large enough to back up what these recovery programs want to back up.I've upgraded and patched .net up to 3.5 (1.1 is broken for some reason). I've upgraded and patched XP Home to service pack 2 and have upgraded and patched IE to release 7.I have various utitlity and virus scanner programs on my system but doing an file observation through Advanced System Care, I have nowhere near 9 gigs of data that I need to back up.So the only thing I can think is that Paragon is trying to back all the formated trash data from the umpteen system formats that I've done.I've used several wipers and asked Paragon to exclude auxilary files but still insists that I have close to 9 gigs of data to back up?

The registry editor and the export registry pages never came up.

Since it was a fairly expensive piece of software, I wish to protect this investment by creating a backup copy of the installation CD, in case anything should occur that damages the one that I bought. How can I do this so that the backup CD will install properly? I know very little about images and creating bootable discs, so any guidance would be very much appreciated. One problem that I know I wish to avoid: a fellow that I asked at a computer store said that he had tried but failed, finding that the new copy would not accept the serial number once he had installed it.

I was trying to backup the registry of my Windows XP Home edition desktop, and I was going to use the program ERDNT. Mistakenly, I copied the folder over from my Vista laptop, forgetting that it carried backups of my Vista registry. So I launched the program, and mistakenly, restored my Vista registry backup onto my XP computer. I panicked, and tried doing a system restore right after. Now, everytime the computer starts up I get an error saying that msisadrv.sys is missing or corrupt. What can I do?

Press Retry to retry or Cancel to cancel." when I try to download data from a data provider. My internet connection is running perfectly normal and have also confirmed that my settings are as per the data providers recommendations. This is also not a firewall matter as I have enabled this software to download from the internet before. How can I check that this is not a windows problem and that Windows and the software is in synch?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell like alot of people I made the mistake of selecting safeboot in the boot.ini file in the msconfig file after my comp got a virus and would not boot into safemode. The hard drive is in two partitions: the C drive used to contain windows, and the D drive which has the data i am trying to save. I don't have a Windows XP disc because it was already on the comp when i bought it. I have attempted to restore the windows files with Bart PE bootup image disc but it wiped out Windows XP completely from the C drive in the process, but the Data drive is still showing up with all its files intact.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI went out of town for 2 weeks, came home and my pc is acting really strange. I've been getting tons of pop-ups, to the point my computer freezes and i must restart. Not only that but it randomly reboots itself even when not being used. Also, when i go to delete files now, the file does NOT go into the recycle bin. I looked at the settings and there is no check mark next to the "do not move files into recycle bin". My BF said he had been downloading things so I figured maybe its a virus or something. I ran Nortons... nothing. Ran AVG... nothing. A friend told me it sounded like spyware so he told me to run Adaware & Spybot. Did that, found a ton of stuff. But when i retarted the pc, it wanted to start in "safe mode". I noticed that most of these pop ups are (search miracle ??) Found info that its a trojan, but i dont know. . I dont know what to do, totally computer illiterate.

I am sure that the bios have been affected and attempts to boot from either a floppy or cd get ignored in the loading process and the bios canot find the module to activate the periferal devices ie: keyboard, mouse, usb ports.
