Warning Message"no Valid Internet Connections Configured On This System"?
Jan 13, 2008
I recieve the following warning message "The are no valid internet connections configured on this system. Press Retry to retry or Cancel to cancel." when I try to download data from a data provider. My internet connection is running perfectly normal and have also confirmed that my settings are as per the data providers recommendations. This is also not a firewall matter as I have enabled this software to download from the internet before. How can I check that this is not a windows problem and that Windows and the software is in synch?
I've recently assembled a new server for my wife with the following:
Asus A8S-X Socket 939 Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 CPU Biostar GeForce 7300 LE supp. 256MB PCIe
I used the old hard drive which was loaded with windows XP pro and when the system was ready, I configured all the new drivers. I'm afraid I have some corrupt system files but really don't know how to proceed to take care of it.
I have a wireless router/modem at home and at work. I am wondering if there is a program out there that will show me if computers are using my internet connection.
I Went To Get Online And It Was Not Working,i Checked All Of My Network Connections And There Gone I Running Windows Xp Sp2,my Modem Is Working And I Checked With My Internet People And Everything Works On There End,i Donot Know How My Connections Deleted By There Self
I have been trying for a while to delete three broadband connections i seem to have made, but not enabled. They are located in the network connections dialog under the broadband heading. On top of this they keep asking me which server to connect to. When I try to delete them, it asks me if i want to send them to the recycle bin, I click yes, and then nothing happens, they don't go anywhere.
When i connect to the internet, The Icon of the two small computers does not go to my Task bar ( near the tasks eg: msn messenger ), until i go to My Network Connections, Right click and press Refresh... i mean it does'nt go automaticaly, same as my network connection when its aquiring the ip, it stays there in my tray until i refresh my Network connections, Anybody knows a workaround ? I don't have any idea why that happened, i don't remember missing with anything
I'm really desesperate to figure this problem out. My computer keeps shouting down without even a simple warning. The BIG problem is none other than this: My exames are aproaching like real fast and me and my colegues are all using our school PC's and whatnot. I've already formated it but the problem is still there though! Error Message: C:DOCUME~1Margem DEFINI~1TempWER8533.dir00Mini110708-10.dmp C:DOCUME~1MargemEFINI~1TempWER8533.dir00 sysdata.xml.
I have had my laptop networked with my Xbox 360 for a while using ICS. It worked fine. However, I have recently changed my broadband provider and the ICS network no longer works.I have tried to select the Internet Connection Sharing box (Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection) but as soon as a click OK I get this message:An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. Internet Connection Sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is reqired for automatic IP
when i am working on my computer or doing anything else. the machine just restarts it self and no warning or messege is given. the monitor just goes black.
I have Microsoft Powerpoint on my desktop, but I need it on my laptop. I lost my cd for Powerpoint, so I burn the one I have on my desktop and burn that file to a blank cd. After I burned the cd, I inserted the disc on my laptop. I screen comes up and I see the powerpoint icon. When I click the icon it says "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application"
I need to backup my pre-configured computer (drivers/XP) its a dell laptop, and i got no drivers -CD's- with it. What is the best way to make a duplicate copy of the harddrive (3 gugs)as I'm going to get a nre Hard drive soon?
my PC has started rebooting without any seeming rhyme or reason -- and each time it restarts the disc check finds unhappy things.at first i thought the crashes were because of system overload -- too many programs running and/or tasks i was having it do all at once. with no applications running - and it'll blip out and reboot all on its own. more than once.i know there isn't a virus; i run norton and i also went digging, just to be sure. i also finally had it checked out; they couldn't find anything specific. i've stripped about all i can think of from my start-up and have removed software i like but don't have to have, trying to make it easier on the computer.the 'crash' doesn't give any warnings or errors. my computer simply does a restart.
I keep getting this Warning message every time I try to open a folder. Attention, some dangerous viruses detected in your system. Microsoft Windows XP Files corrupted. This may lead to the destruction of important files in C: WINDOWS. Download protection software now! Click OK to download the antispyware. (Recommended). I click No and it directs me to a site that tries to get me to download the software. If I let the page run, the computer becomes disfuctional, and I have to use task manager to close programs and get the computer to respond. I've tried using system restore, adaware SE professional, and Symantec Antivirus to get rid of whatever this may be. Nothing is working. I'm not sure what to do at this point
so i get my laptop from my brother who was borrowing it and i see in the start menu that there is a little icon that flashes from a blue and white question mark into the red circle with one line symbol. when highlighted it says Critical System Error!. i click on it and it pops up a page for me to download some antimalware or something. idk what's going on so i'm doing an ewido scan and i did a hijackthis log
Recently went to Windows XP web site to check for updates. Found 2 "Hardware Updates: 1.ALPS pointing device and 2.Storage-primary IDE channel.(don't have a pointing device on my desktop) Tried to download updates on both desktop and notebook computers.Immediately got warnings from my virus software and computers crashed. Tried to reboot and got message that the registry was corrupted. I used Acronis to restore hard drive images and all is well now, but can anyone explain this? Don't know whether this was a virus or whether the downloads caused the crash but I trusted Microsoft.
I have winXP pro , and when I start them after I see desktop, I get warning message, telling me that my computer is unsafe, that someone else can see my files, and to follow remove instruction. Link forwards me to a web page with "antispyware software", but problem is still there. I've noticed that this is a screen that appears over my desktop and I'm unable to move it or tu turn it down. Task manager shows no application running.

OS : windows XP Pro sp3Problem : We have a machine that has lost Scanner and Camera wizard from autoplay a few days ago after we moved this PC from a local Workgroup to a Domain. After moving it to the domain with the new user, we copied the Windows profile from the old local user to to the new domain user. We currently do not have any group policies configured to disable auto play. When I log in with the username into the old local account the Wizard pops up fine. It is something related to the user/profile change. When we plug the camera into the computer autoplay works and recognises that the camera has pictures but there are no options to transfer pictures in the pop up box. i have tried a a few reg edits , we do not have Real Player, No luck with Windows autoplay repair wizard either.
I recently purchased the Microsoft Fingerprint reader to run on my Windows XP MCE system It works fine for the most part, but I can seem to change any settings for a previously configured logon page When I reach a logon page which I have set up to use the fingerprint reader, an icon appears in the title bar next to the minimze/restore buttons. The flyover help says I can click on the icon to edit the signon information for this page. However, when I click this icon, all I get is a dialog with the hightlighted fingers just telling me to use one to signon.Am I missing something? How do you edit signon information for a previously configured page? I installed the software and reader on my laptop (XP Pro)
Now I am having multiple new problems. I want to completely erase the hard drive and install a new version of XP Home, not Pro. At the beginning of the installation process, it gathers system info. Immediately it responds with "no valid system partition" and the only option is to exit from the process. How can I get past this to complete the installation?
The service 'Network Connections' uses up 80% of my CPU whenever I leave it enabled. I have singled it out, and yes, this is the cause. Toggling it off in my msconfig leaves me with an idle PC (0% usage). However, I cannot get internet without 'Network Connections.'
My son and I share an "Always On" Cable Internet connection through a 4-port hub and cable Network. I want the two computers to connect "locally" and share Files, printers and a scanner (without scarificing the internet sharing). My efforts on creating this connection were, so far, fruitless. Can someone point me in the right direction? As I am not technically inclined, "how-to" sites would be of great assistance.
I was trying to make a new connection by using the "Create a New Connection". I click on "Setup and Advanced Connection" and then I click next. Then I click on incoming connection and then I click next. Once I click next my computer freeze my computer for five to ten minutes and then gives me this error message. "Incoming Connection depends on the routing and remote access service which was unable to start. For more information, check the system events log". I don't know what to do. Before I reinstall windows XP, I thought one of you genius might have a better idea than reinstall windows again. I have received so much help from this newsgroup so I thought I asked before I go reinstalling anything.
This all of a sudden happened and I dont know what caused it but when I now click on tools, internet explorer, then connections tab, I find that My ISP's which are AOL (main) and Netzero (backup) disappeared from the connection box. (see attachment) but I can still get to my aol etc. Can anyone tell me what could have made this happen and how to get the two ISP's back in the box?
I have a problem that I do not know how to fix. My system is windows xp pro, it is very slow and unresponsive. It takes awhile to get the control panel to respond and the icon Network Connections does not want to open.It takes a few min. then it finally shows no connections. When I try to set up a connection I get the error: an exception occurred while trying to run netshell.dll,STARTNCW.I tried doing regsvr32 netshell.dll with start run and it said:Load Library Failed- The specific Module could not be found. The file netshell.dll is in the system 32 folder and in a folder dealing to Service Pack 2.I tried doing a chkdsk and it didn't catch anything. I also ran spy ware and anti virus software on the drive and nothing came up.I just did start run: regsvr32 netshell.dll regsvr32 netcfgx.dll regsvr32 netman. dll. These things error out. So i ran that sfc /scannow and it did its thing and asked for the windows disk and so i put it in (with sp2). I sat there it finished, and nothing happened so i restarted after like 10min.I then did all of these again:regsvr32 netshell.dll regsvr32 netcfgx.dll regsvr32 netman.dll And go the error the specific module cannot be found.
Router A:wireless linksys with an internet connection Router B:the other is old and supports only wired connections and it does not connect to the internet I just want to use for file sharing with my old desktop that does not have wireless card. So right now, the only way I can browse with my wireless connection is by disabling my LAN connection. However, when I have both connections enabled, the browser checks for internet connectivity with the LAN and since there is none on Router B it does not allow me to browse even though I am still connected to the wireless. I want to be able to use the wireless connection for connecting to the internet and at the same time be connected to my LAN. Is there some way to specify the order of the internet connection in the browser? All I see are settings for proxy in the firefox.
I need to move my Modem Network connections (with all properties such as dialer numbers, password etc) from my older notebook to my new notebook. They both use the same OS (Win-XP/Pro-Sp2).Suffice to say I dont remember the details to recreate them one more time individually.
