View 14 RepliesI have been getting the bsod which freezes my computer frequently with Windows XP Home Edition using Service Pack 2.
View 14 RepliesI regularly put my laptop into hibernation rather than shutting down.
Until recently all worked OK.
However, suddenly, when resuming windows the BSOD appears. After switching off then on again, I have to delete the resume data and boot from scratch.
I have a optical disk from my old build and 1 ide hard disk with xp installed.
I have tried booting from the ide hard disk with xp installed but when the xp loading splash screen is about to come a BSOD appears and it restarts. I can't read the BSOD as it goes to fast and i can't stop it.
Used the hard disk back with my old system and there is no problems, everything runs fine.
I have tried using 1 ram stick, both sticks, ram in different slot, every configuration i could think of. But i still have the problem. Tried the ram on a different system and it is fine. i can't get to run xp on this new system.

View 5 Replies View Related1. Within hours or days of installing XP I get blue screen of death even though I formatted C drive. I try to repair it with boot CD but it NEVER finds a previous version of windows to repair. So I try stuff in recovery console such as replacing my ntfs file (was told to do this by someone) but that doesn't help. Then I attempted to chkdsk but 30 minutes later it's only at 20%. May as well just reinstall!
2. My laptop often just cuts the power. I think this is due to overheating but to be honest when it cuts sometimes it's hot and sometimes it is not. I have ordered a cooling mat and in the meantime I have a big office fan blasting it on full power, seems to help. I'm also considering buying compressed air can.................
i've scanned my computer with every single anti-virus and spyware program i could find yet nothing will fix the problem Sometimes when i reboot it will start loading normally but when it gets to the windows XP logo the loading bar is going like it's supposed to...then after a few seconds it completely stops...then shortly after a blue screen flashes and my computer restarts....and when this starts happening the only way to fix it is to do a system restore to the date i first installed windows xp to it....even if the problem started happening a week after i restore...it won't work if i restore it to a couple days before...ONLY the day i first installed windows.....i have to keep going into safe mode and restore....then it will begin working again....but no matter what it always ends up doing it again...and i'm getting sick of constantly losing programs i install then having to reinstall every single one of them.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been having the slow downs hard core. Defrag has been going for 24+ hours and its only at 9%. Folders take 5 seconds to load and the icon pictures within the folders take about 10 seconds to appear. Games run fine and programs do to once they load, but its almost like the computer has a 5 second hicup every 10 seconds and freezes. I have ran registry fixer, spy bot, avg, I have ran tests on all my components with a program called cpu tester (r something like that). I was grabbing wi-fi spots within my neiborhood to get internet with a wireless usb adapter. Funny thing is this is when all the problems starting happening or at least getting worse after a couple weeks of installing the Belkin software for the usb adapter. For the past week I can't get a signal I usually could always get. I guess my question is should I just wipe the drives and start fresh? or should I try something else?

As he had no product key sticker anywhere on the computer case I downloaded keyfinder from Download.com it found the product key in seconds. but I tried to register windows but it keeps telling me on the windows registration page that this copy is already registered. He only has six days left to register, what happens if after the six days past he still cannot get a product key.
Lost 2 days of data because in the middle of the day my windows date reverts back to Jan 2002. I have changed the date back to the actual date twice already

The word Webcam appears on my screen then my browser(Chrome) starts and loads tab after tab of a webpage for Logitech webcams. Taps continue to load until chrome crashes. Only then can I regain control of Chrome and the computer. I've tried all the usual antispy tools but nothing finds what is causing this. I do have a wireless logitech keyboard and mouse.

Just recently when closing down a dialogue box appears with the text: "End Program - sprtmcd.exe" This goes through a little process then I select the "End Now" option and the computer closes down. This has to be done every time now. Everything else seems to be functioning normally as far as I can tell.

View 4 Replies View RelatedXP Professional has been running fine for years and now it won't shut down, it hangs at the screen. The only way to turn it off is with the power button. I tried to do a restore but when it gets to the point of restart the system won't shut down and the restore fails. I have McAfee installed and have scanned three times with no problems found.

First i tried to boot from disk and then it told me that i dont even have a hard drive installed. I fixed this problem by pressing F6 when my windows cd was booting up and now it loads some RAID drivers off from a floppy disk i made up so that the HDD is there.
Just as some other posts have mentioned, i did not try the recovery console and went straight into setting up windows. When it asks me to choose a partition. I selected the one that i created when i built my computer (the one i have very valuable files on) and from there it gives me the "blue screen of death" or so my friend used to call it...the one that says the computer has been shut down to prevent damage to my computer.
Any ideas?
Also, with no other ideas i went into the recovery console... it asks something around "on what volume do you want to recover"...so i press the number 1 which is drive C then from there goes to the blue screen again.
Another thought i ran across is that the disk i am trying to use is a windows xp home and i set up my computer with xp pro....i seem to have lost the disk!!! Im hoping that's not the reason for the blue screen.
Thanks a lot!
I am in a desktop administration class and I have been given a question I can't seem to find an answer for.PC appears to be booting in Safe Mode, however it is not. What is the likely problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, my boyfriend a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4334 that is running XP Media Center 2002. This morning he woke up and it wouldn't finish booting. It POSTs, it sees the hard drive and the operating system. But as soon as the XP logo appears, the computer reboots. we turned off automatic reboot and got the following error:
STOP: 0x0000007B(0xF78AE524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
We cannot boot into safe mode, last known good configuration, cds, or USB, and we don't have a floppy drive.
we have tried an XP installation cd, a media center installation cd, and hirens bootcd, and it wont boot into any of them.
I'm running WinXP Home (SP2). Whenever I reboot, the language toolbar appears in the task bar. I remove it but it shows up again when I reboot. Is there any way to keep it from reappearing?
