Everytime I open a folder of any kind and click on something this shortcut appears. If I click on this shortcut it says "Windows Script Host" There is no script file specified.
What is it and how can I stop it please? Its very annoying. The shortcut is a big "S" and on the bottom it has this written: .VBS;VBE;JS;JSE
When i turn it on I get the 'Windows did not restart properly screen'and no matter which of the options I choose, i see the windows logo loading after a short time the blue screen apears for a split second and then its back to the first screen all over again.
iv gone into BIOS, i ran the HD self test, and both the short and long test fail before really even doing anything.
Each time I turn on my computer and as it is boots up it will delay for a time with a line that reads something like Automatic IDE Configuration and then a message that my date and time are incorrect. The date goes back to Nov. 2003. Once I correct the date, time and year things seem to perform ok.

Specifically, DST will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November). Thus, Microsoft is releasing an update to address changes that have or will take place in several countries. The update will be delivered automatically to Windows XP SP2 users starting December 12th (or can be downloaded now by clicking here) and will be included in Windows Vista.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi do scans quite a bit and delete alot of things everytime. there is the msn spyware thing that keeps coming back after i delete that, as well as many other things i dont even know about. some of my devices just shut them selves down from time to time (mouse, scanner/printer, and otherthings i cant remember but the key board is fine) and after a few seconds turn back on. and the whole thing just crashes sometimes. i did that scan thing but im not sure if i did it right.

My mouse/pointer is STILL freezing after about 5 minutes of being logged on. I am using the touchpad mouse that is on my laptop. I have ran an updated version of Adaware6, Spybot, CWShredder & AVG Anti-Virus. I also have Spyware Blaster Protection enabled. There is a catch: if you accidentally press it, there is no convenient way to stop the shutdown sequence. (you can create a CANCEL SHUTDOWN shortcut, and have the shudown shortcut have a delay (-t 10, for example), but that is cumbersome, and will take up even more desktop real estate.)So i had this idea for a solution. I tried creating a keyboard shortcut for the shutdown shortcut (and was going to do the same for the Cancel Shutdown Shortcut). And, it worked fine. The point was that I could get rid of the little shutdown shortcut icon from my desktop. So, I moved it to a file in My Documents, so it would still be available, just not sitting on the desktop. When I click on the time on the bottom right hand corner, and under the Internet Time tab, I can't syncronize the time using both time.windows.com and nist.gov servers. I have tried dragging them from the desktop window to the desktop screen but that is not possible as the destination is the same. I installed the graphic card. When windows starts it shows on both monitors, but then one turns off.. The black screen becomes the primary window where all my icons are. When I try to go to property it shows on the black screen monitor.
My guess I have to change the resolution. Is there a a shortcut key I can press to change the primary monitor. Or what should I do?
There are unwanted shortcut icons on my task bar (not the system tray).They are on top of each other and when I right-click on the one on top and select "delete" it gets deleted along with the corresponding shortcut on the desktop. I went through many answers on several forums, but they did not describe the same problem.
Also, the problem appeared lately (do not remember exactly when). Other than the windows updates and service packs (SP3) and AVG8 updates, nothing got installed. I would like to get rid of these unnecessary shortcuts because they take away space for the icons of open applications.
