View 4 Repliesmy computer freezes when I play some video games and also when I play AVI files (if I play mpeg files they work just fine, no freezing at all) But the thing is when I play games or AVI files my computer will freeze randomly (5 minutes, 30 minutes, just randomly sometimes it won't freeze at all) I don't know if it's the memory or not.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to find any codec other than 3vix to play these m4a files. That was fine until the demo ran out. Is there a free codec or am I forced to buy a codec (just seems principly wrong). Or maybe some kind of converter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my Dell Inspiron 700 laptop, (with intel integrated graphics) wmp crashes when playing wmv files. The laptop is running windows xp home with sp2. I have no problems using winamp playing .wmv files. I have tried upgrading to IE7 and installing Windows Media Player 11 and it does not resolve it. I even tried uninstalling wmp 11, and then uninstalling/re-installing windows media player 10 and it still doesn't fix the problem.
View 2 Replies View Relatedim fairly new to computers but seemed to be doing ok until i allowed my neice & her friend to play games on it. now i cant open some of my files as its saying 'dont know what programe created it' especially DLL files.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive recently got corrupted and I had to install WP XP Home, instead of XP Professional that I had previously. After installation and downloading WMP, I was unable to play any MPEG files that previously worked. WMP gives me the following error - C00D11B1. Even the files thumbnails dont look the same (currently look like generic files). However, the MPEGs work fine when I play them in Quicktime and even iTunes. I downloaded/bought a plug-in from the WMP website which I think gives me MPEG-2 decoder/DVD software etc. However, I think that relates to DVD play etc, while I am more concerned about the videos from my Sony Digital Camera which still dont work. Am I missing any drivers etc that I need to download? Btw music files work fine, and this only relates to videos.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with playing video files. I can hear sound but no picture, no video. I'm using Windows XP home and I downloaded the latest codec for Window player and still won't work. I downloaded divx player and it won't work.. only sound.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with video codecs all of a sudden, both my media players (Windows media player and BS Player) have stopped playing the audio tracks of my video files earlier on today, everything was working fine, and my video files were playing perfectly. I have the Xvid and Divx codecs installed. When I try and play a video file (that I watched earlier on today), Windows Media Player says that it is connecting to the codec server, then says there is an error downloading codec but it shouldn't even need to do this, as I KNOW I have the correct codecs installed. The visuals play fine but no audio.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy IE7 and WMP11 crashed.I dont really care about IE7 because i use M. Firefox 3.6 but i definitely need Windows Media Player. I've done every update, i tried reinstalling but nothing has been a solution.
Here is what happens;

This is what happens when i try to open media player. WMP11 does NOT OPEN AT ALL. So does IE7.
I'm open to any solutions. media player or internet explorer.
BTW; i'm using
WÄ°ndows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
Does Windows Media Player 11 have a data disc burner too? Can it burn DVDs?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded Windows Media Player 11. All my visualizations seem to now be playing at low resolution, like 640X480. How on Earth do you up the resolution on them? In the plugin section, it says you cannot change the properties for any of the visualizations.

The package install progress bar seems to keep moving but the top one stays at 25% on the Windows Media Format Runtime part...then after about 2 hours it'll say was unable to complete install.
im running xp pro sp2.
wmp11 on vista
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A laptop the os system being vista it has wmp11 on it he tried to play a dvd video film on it he got the sound but the video was encrypted how can I make it so he can see the video on wmp11. I downloaded VLC and that works fine video and sound, so whats the problem with wmp11?
I turned on my computer and several windows
programs aren,t working.
When I try to turn on Windows Media Player 11, Help and
Support or System Restore nothing happens.
The same problem occurs in safe mode.
System: Windows XP Pro SP2
I have win xp sp2 fully update with all drivers etc upto date. WMP11 was working fine and I can't figure what has caused the issue.
All video files play, but only the audio, the screen remains blank. This applies to local files or steaming from places such as mlb.tv etc.
I have tried removing WMP11, and 10 but nothing allows media files to play. No other software would work either. I finally got VLC to work by selecting OpenGL mode, but that would work in no other mode either.
I have checked I have all codecs, tried removing all and re adding, but nothing seems to work.
Is it possible to ungroup the music list in the library? Just like in WMP10 just like this one.
This is one of the reason I'll probably stick to 10 (or other player) even when the final build is release (unless of course it's possible).
I recently updated BIOS on a Compaq Presario 5330US running XP Home SP2. Now when I play DRM protected content with WMP 11, I get a message that states "Windows Media Player cannot play the protected content file because a security upgrade is required. Do you want to download the security upgrade?" I click on "YES," and get another pop-up message. This message says "The file or device that you are trying to use requires a component of Windows Media Player to be upgraded; click Upgrade to download and install the required component." I do, but nothing happens.
I went to the Microsoft site and read a document at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387015.aspx, which seems to describe the situation. It appears that my WMP 11 is not "Individualized" through Microsoft's Individualization Service.
I found another document at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925705/en-us, which sends you to a Microsoft web site at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp titled Security Component Upgrade. There is an "Update" button there, but it is grayed out and not selectable.
Ive tried rolling back to WMP10 and reinstalling WMP11 (twice), I even reinstalled Explorer 7, but neither action corrected the problem.
Non-DRM protected content appears to run unaffected on WMP 11, and everything else seems to work OK, but I am very frustrated that megabytes worth of previously downloaded content is not available to me, nor am I able to run new content from the same sites. Also, I have another HP computer that has a BIOS upgrade available, but I am understandably worried about attempting this.
When I attempt to play or stream music from a web site, I no longer have the options of "open, save, cancel", I only have the options of "save" or "cancel." The dialog box indicates that "m3u" or m3ulist" files are an unknown type.. This wasn't always the case, at one point things worked just fine. How do I get my computer to recognize and "open" these files without having to "save" them and play them from the saved file? Once saved, they will play in Windows Media Player.

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy computer freezes, too.
W2K, 1,19GB AMD, 128MgB SDRAM.
Only mine freezes and I have to turn it off and back on manually.
I uninstalled WMP9, which caused it to revert to WMP 6.4.
I got that "Media Player Classic" that looks like WMP, and it worked for a little while, but now it just freezes any time I try to play a WMV.
Okay, everytime i play a C.D. or mp3's there's a glitch or a clicking noise every 10 secs or so and its a new soundcard. I tried reistalling the soundcard and the clicks is still there.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a spare computer that I use for editing my home videos. TV and VCR hooked up to a capture card, then I burn to a dvd. However, I recently replaced the mobo and cpu, using the same harddrive that was in the other setup without formatting the drive. Hardware all works correctly, but my video programs kept giving me error messages. I uninstalled all the programs and codecs, reinstalled after clean reboot, and the programs are functioning correctly again EXCEPT. After capturing the video and playing the movie back in Media Player, all movies, even ones that were on the harddrive previously, are UPSIDE DOWN.
View 8 Replies View Relatedwell for the past couple months I've been getting this really annoying problem with the "System" process randomly using the CPU A LOT on WinXP Pro. This is only noticeable while playing games that use high amounts of CPU usage as well (two of which are Continuum which is an online multiplayer game and Sims 2).
I've been through many forums trying everything that could possibly be a problem. Removed the registry entry related to avis, set the settings to best performance but no change. Now I would assume that it has to do with something running, but just this morning I shut down all my server process, and basically anything I could.
My computer often hangs whenever I play games. After it hangs for 3 times, my monitor will go black and the yellow light will bleep and it will restart by itself. This annoys me very much as I play games a lot.I've checked for viruses,trojan,ad-aware,spyware etc.
I used Ad-aware,SpyBot,PC Doctor and all of it says I'm clean.
what do i need 2 download so i can play dvds on my pc im running windows xp pro and windows media player and is there a site that ya can download everything for free?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently had to perform a complete re-installation of Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition due to a software error on my computer. Prior to the re installation, my computer came with WinDVD preinstalled on the system so I could watch DVD movies using my computers DVD-ROM drive. However, after the re-installation, I no longer have this software, nor would it seem, the appropriate DVD codecs for Windows Media Player. Since I no longer have the system discs that came bundled with my computer, I was wondering whether free codecs were available for download to allow Windows Media Player play DVD's.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. Computer is a Dell Dimension 4600. The computer has a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM352F drive with SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. I believe all this is a stock setup. When I put a DVD in the drive, it plays the video but there is no sound. I checked in Windows and it said the CD/DVD device is working correctly and the SoundMax is working correctly, too. The device works OK with data CDs and plays audio CDs OK as well. In Settings in Media Center for the DVD it says 2 speaker stereo is enabled with Vocal Options set to Both. I tried the DVD on another similarly configured computer and it didn't work there, either.
