I have a problem with playing video files. I can hear sound but no picture, no video. I'm using Windows XP home and I downloaded the latest codec for Window player and still won't work. I downloaded divx player and it won't work.. only sound.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with video codecs all of a sudden, both my media players (Windows media player and BS Player) have stopped playing the audio tracks of my video files earlier on today, everything was working fine, and my video files were playing perfectly. I have the Xvid and Divx codecs installed. When I try and play a video file (that I watched earlier on today), Windows Media Player says that it is connecting to the codec server, then says there is an error downloading codec but it shouldn't even need to do this, as I KNOW I have the correct codecs installed. The visuals play fine but no audio.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Pro. Realtek HD Audio sound card. For some really odd reason all of the sudden I can't hear the guitar playing on some of my songs. I can hear everything else playing but the guitar is drowned out and sounds very very low compared to the other songs and I really don't know what the problem could be. I have tried different drivers for my sound card all with the same results. Anyone know the problem or a possible solution?
View 8 Replies View Relatedall my video was working correctly at a point and the last thing i remember installing when it stopd working was nero 7.after i installed that i went to watch a clip on my window media player(WMP) and the clip wouldnt show only sound would play, so i installed all the codec again, only divx would play some files now but not all my avi of mpeg.i downloaded GSPOT and everythin and i got all the codec. ran out of everythin what to do.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player.When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference
My Windows Media player 10 is trying to play some video clips as songs rather than video clips. This has only recently happened. Do I need to purchase some
decoder to fix it or is there a down oad for it?
My daughter just logged on to play Toontown online and we noticed that we can't hear any sound coming out of the speakers.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a spare computer that I use for editing my home videos. TV and VCR hooked up to a capture card, then I burn to a dvd. However, I recently replaced the mobo and cpu, using the same harddrive that was in the other setup without formatting the drive. Hardware all works correctly, but my video programs kept giving me error messages. I uninstalled all the programs and codecs, reinstalled after clean reboot, and the programs are functioning correctly again EXCEPT. After capturing the video and playing the movie back in Media Player, all movies, even ones that were on the harddrive previously, are UPSIDE DOWN.

I've gone through msconfig and turned off a bunch of start up stuff that I didn't need. I went from having about 50 processes to less than 30 and have seen no difference. I then changed the performance options from the Control Panel to optimize the system for performance. I have defragged, scanned with AVG and Ad-Aware

I have used windows media player9, windows media player classic and nero. The video box opens fine and playback occurs on the laptop but I get a purple screen in the video box on the tv. resolution has been changed from 600x800 to 1024x768 with no change in video display.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. Computer is a Dell Dimension 4600. The computer has a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM352F drive with SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. I believe all this is a stock setup. When I put a DVD in the drive, it plays the video but there is no sound. I checked in Windows and it said the CD/DVD device is working correctly and the SoundMax is working correctly, too. The device works OK with data CDs and plays audio CDs OK as well. In Settings in Media Center for the DVD it says 2 speaker stereo is enabled with Vocal Options set to Both. I tried the DVD on another similarly configured computer and it didn't work there, either.

View 1 Replies View Related1. Whenever I play a game on my machine (such as Zuma, Rocket Mania), I get "system has encountered a problem" errors or blue screen crashes. There is no consistency in the errors that I or my husband can see.
I have:
1. downloaded and reinstalled Audio and Video drivers (many times), including reverting backwards
2. run disc clean, System Mechanics clutter clean, spybot, internet clean--if I do these and then boot, the games will run (sometimes).
3. deleted and physically relocated the page file (which is set to max--4096)
4. done full virus scan, registry clean, adscan---my machine is so clean it squeeks
2. Keyboard is freezing when I'm typing (either online or off--doesn't matter which program either). The display stops and I can keep typing. After maybe 10 seconds, the screen catches up. I have deleted and reinstalled my keyboard.
3. I have lost my system sound but have sound on all games (except one).
I have a dell inspiron e1505 running vista that is about one year old. The sound skips every 30 secs or so whenever playing any kind of media. It appears the solution was found on a different forum however I have a problem with their answer and was hoping someone here could clear it up for me as I have had lots of luck here before Here is the thread from the other forum

I tried the Fan in Comcast, it plays the videos, but no sound. I tried a DVD. No sound. I ran the troubleshooter. No help. No music in Windows Media Player either.There are so many devices on this laptop. I do get the sound when windows opens and closes. I have had sound on the Fan video clips and Windows Media Center in the past. I recently completed the Window authenticity.
