This all started out that I was having a microphone audio recording problem the other day and was trying to solve that...A couple of days ago, I did a complete HP System Restore on my computer to try to fix the problem, not realizing that it would do all that it did to my computer. Im having to re-install alot of my programs, etc. Now When Im trying to watch a video online, if I click the 'full screen' view it comes up just totally white screen with no picture at all.
I am trying to watch video playback on my tv. I am using a dell Latitude 610 with an s-video output cable. All displays are fine except video playback. I have used windows media player9, windows media player classic and nero. The video box opens fine and playback occurs on the laptop but I get a purple screen in the video box on the tv. resolution has been changed from 600x800 to 1024x768 with no change in video display.
I have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player. When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference
My Windows Media player 10 is trying to play some video clips as songs rather than video clips. This has only recently happened. Do I need to purchase some decoder to fix it or is there a down oad for it?

I struggle to explain this one. This is a duplicate setup - i have two systems very nearly identical, both HP DC7600's, full-up 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, fairly fresh Windows XP Professional SP3, typical applications: MS Office, Picasa, iTunes, Realplayer, Google Chrome browser, blah blah. Nothing exotic. One of them, after being left with a half dozen tabs open in Chrome, and not much else going on other than AVAST Antivirus running in background, upon checking back in with the Screen Saver "On" [starfield], no password needed, the screen/display freezes on the background image, and nothing else pops up on screen except the mouse cursor.
I have a spare computer that I use for editing my home videos. TV and VCR hooked up to a capture card, then I burn to a dvd. However, I recently replaced the mobo and cpu, using the same harddrive that was in the other setup without formatting the drive. Hardware all works correctly, but my video programs kept giving me error messages. I uninstalled all the programs and codecs, reinstalled after clean reboot, and the programs are functioning correctly again EXCEPT. After capturing the video and playing the movie back in Media Player, all movies, even ones that were on the harddrive previously, are UPSIDE DOWN.
The only real problem I have is when I am playing a video or movie, it jumps up to 100% and causes the video to freeze up for a few seconds. I've gone through msconfig and turned off a bunch of start up stuff that I didn't need. I went from having about 50 processes to less than 30 and have seen no difference. I then changed the performance options from the Control Panel to optimize the system for performance. I have defragged, scanned with AVG and Ad-Aware
I can be doing anything, so not even be around the computer and it freezes, could freeze on the screen saver, or when im on hte internet, or playin a game, or writing an email anything.... not an overheating problem because it has happened say right after its done booting, or 5 mins after running or say 12 hours after being on.... or jsut not freeze seems to be really random
I have a problem with playing video files. I can hear sound but no picture, no video. I'm using Windows XP home and I downloaded the latest codec for Window player and still won't work. I downloaded divx player and it won't work.. only sound.
I have a problem with video codecs all of a sudden, both my media players (Windows media player and BS Player) have stopped playing the audio tracks of my video files earlier on today, everything was working fine, and my video files were playing perfectly. I have the Xvid and Divx codecs installed. When I try and play a video file (that I watched earlier on today), Windows Media Player says that it is connecting to the codec server, then says there is an error downloading codec but it shouldn't even need to do this, as I KNOW I have the correct codecs installed. The visuals play fine but no audio.
i formated my pc and now i have windows xp with latest updated installed, but when i click to play a movie, my pc just start going slowly and freez and windows dont show any error.
I reformatted my computer recently and now when I play games on my computer it will freeze up and restart, after it reboots i get a message saying it was because of my video card drivers and when i click the link to see how to resolve it it sends me to a page about debugging.
there, there is this pc at work, I just re-loaded windows xp service pac 2 on it, and this computer will just freeze up. Seriously it can be sitting there doing nothing or I will have the video camera program turned on, and for no apparent reason, it will just freeze up, and the only way to get it to work again is to reboot it. I have tried updating the mouse, sound, video drivers - the mouse was acting kinda wierd one day - it just seemed sluggish so I updated the driver for it. The sound driver needed to be updated so I could get rid of the yellow question mark in the hardware profile and that is gone and I thought that fixed it but later that same day, it just froze again. Now there is no set time or anything like that, there are days that it will work perfectly all day and then the next day it will freeze after being on for 20 minutes or less, and there are days that it will work for 4 hours and then freeze
I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP. I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. I need help in a serious way. all advice and solutions are requested.
Very similar to the following problem but i do not have a raid, and it seems that this PC has a raid and i don't, plus it was never really determined what the actual solution was.
The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.
All 3 safe mods work fine.
Ran chkdsk /r in recovery. Ran proper fixboot procedure.
Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.
The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: AmdK8 Fips nod32drv
Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.
I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.any help?
i have a problem with windows media player, whenever i try to play a video, it says play at the bottom left hand side of the screen but nothing plays, audio, or video, what do i do?
My son was playing a game on the web and his computer crashed. He now get a blue screen but can get to the MS-DOS prompt. He had updated his antivirus just before playing.
I recently upgraded my 2x 512mb RAM for a brand new 2x 1GB sticks. After that I'm having random crashes when playing video sometimes even mp3 on winamp but mostly on Video playback. I'm having no problem playing games I can play for hours and it wont crash. Watching embedded video on firefox no problem as well. I've done some testing it happens sometimes when I try to play a video doesn't matter if its .avi, .wmv, .mkv, a lot of times when I try to pause or stop the video and most of the time when the video is playing and I close the player. Now I've tried different players VLC, WMP classic, WMP 10,11 also tried different Nvidia Drivers ranging from 80.xx to the latest 175.16 with no luck. I've attached minidumps and a bugcheck on the latest minidump.
My hardware: Opteron 170 _Stock settings Biostar N4SLI Mobo 2GB pc3200 _Stock timings SB Audigy with newest drivers for XP ATI x1950xt with newest Catalyst's (7.4's)
Sometimes when i play a game or wake the computer up from sleep mode, the computer screen goes to come back on and instead, the screen goes black, with monitor power light flickering and a loud piercing sound through my speakers. One of the times it happened, the ATI VPU Recovery came up and asked me to submit the crash report through email, but that only came up once, the other times, there has been no warning, no recovery, no errors, just blank.
It pops up while I'm playing Guild Wars, but I did some searching online and found that other people have this problem with different programs, so I don't think that it's program specific.
After using my PC for a while - the screen goes off (and the light goes on orange, like on standby) any music playing stops and there is nothing to do except restart. Upon restarting, the BIOS screen is scrambled and the the XP loading screen is messed up and it just goes to a black screen.I have to turn the PC off. Upon turning the PC on again it does the same. I turn off the power supply, wait a while and power up and everything is fine again. untill it does it all over again.I started experiencing this problem on Monday and it's happened once each day. I haven't got a clue what could be causing it? The PC has an ASRock Board, 2.8Ghz AMD Athlon, 512MB RAM, GeForce5200 128MB. It runs pretty well.but now this.
I recently designed and built a top of the line comp for my dad. So all hardware is brand new. When i play the online game Shattered Galaxy I recieve the blue screen which the computer either freezes or restarts. Also fire fox just recieved a random error when i was posting this but that is another story. I have updated the video drivers. I took a picture of the blue screen so i will post exactlty what it said hoping that it will help.
Every now and then, sometimes when selecting Media player, I get a BSOD with the following error.DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop: 0x00000001 Cmaudio.sys Address F73DE878 Base F73CB000 the only thing I can pick up on is the cmaudio.sys part which is something to do with my soundcard, but thats as far as I can get with it.
my computer freezes when I play some video games and also when I play AVI files (if I play mpeg files they work just fine, no freezing at all) But the thing is when I play games or AVI files my computer will freeze randomly (5 minutes, 30 minutes, just randomly sometimes it won't freeze at all) I don't know if it's the memory or not.
