Aug 21, 2014An hour ago my keyboard quit working so i restarted my computer. When i came back, i could login with a password but once i logged in my keyboard stopped work.

Windows 8 - Keyboard Stops Working After MS Account Login
Oct 11, 2013I have 4 computer with none working keyboard after updates. This AM, I put an HP on line after being off line for several weeks (totally removed from home network).
Under BIOS control keyboard works. Enter password and Windows 8.0 takes over. Worked well until I ran update which had 88 updates. Upon restart , keyboard will not work. (Windows 8.0 was installed over Windows w/ all updates)
HP P7-1010 AMD processor 16 gig ram. 450 gig drive

Jul 24, 2014I just bought my new PC, and i got a problem with it: My Logitech K350 Wireless Keyboard randomly stops responding or sending keystrokes to the PC, its likes it lags or disconnects randomly, its very weird. I installed latest drivers, did plug in/out the receiver from different ports to others with no luck.

Apr 15, 2014I was recording with my internal realtalk hd mic on my laptop, but it stops working everytime I plug in my head set. There's nothing special about this headset, and there's no microphone on it. Sadly, my RT mic does this with any headset I use. It's frustrating when I unplug my headset and the mic begins to work fine again. Is there any reason why it might be doing this? Whenever I try to configure the mic, it simply just doesn't recognize any noise being made when the headphoes are plugged in.

Jul 13, 2014For the past few days my laptop, a Windows 8 Samsung model with Intel core i5, has been acting up for the first time since I purchased it last year. I've been away on vacation for three weeks, and have not used it during that period, so when I returned the system naturally installed itself with new updates. But ever since then, my audio driver has not worked whenever I initially booted the computer (i.e. there is no sound); interestingly, YouTube videos also refuse to load. It is only when I restart the computer, or disable then enable the driver manually, that things return to normal. Or, at least, somewhat.
For when I try to shutdown the system, the computer hangs and just doesn't shutdown. It seemingly performs the processes required for it, the screen darkens, but the system does not power off. The first time I had to manually turn off the power, but last night I simply let it continue with the hope that it would shutdown eventually. It did... but only because my laptop battery ran out.
Before System Restore recommended, I tried that route already. No matter which restore point I used, the system told me that each restore was unsuccessful due to the possibility that my C drive was corrupt. I don't know if that's the case - certainly something is wrong - but I'm at a loss as to exactly what to do.

Sep 15, 2014All of a sudden many of my programs either won't launch or stops working right after launch.
I have no "reset" point that can fix this, and I have tried "sfc /scannow" (without having a clue what it does). After the sfc /scannow, the command prompt message said I had some corrupt files, and not all of them could be fixed automatically.
What can cause several programs to stop working all of a sudden, and what can possibly fix it?(Without re-installing Win 8 of course)

Jun 12, 2014Okay well this happened like 2-3 weeks ago, i have an extremely annoying problem.. The sound of my computer would randomly stop working for some reason.. Not only that, but when i watch youtube the video or any video it won't load and it would literally pause or freeze.
To fix this i would have to disconnect/reconnect my headset or disable/enable my headset through the sound control panel; when i do this, it seems to fix everything, as the sound would come back and the videos would load back up and work normally again, but in 20min or 1hour the same problem would occur again and i would have to do the same process over and over again..
My OS is windows 8.1
And my headset is a Logitech H540

Sep 13, 2013I have a Toshiba laptop running windows 8.1 and the issue that Im facing is that suddenly sound stops working, most likely when playing youtube videos. This is what I've done so far:
Reinstalling drivers (microsoft, realtek, conexant)
Upgraded to 8.1 (I had this issue as after a few weeks I installed windows 8, never happened on 7)
HDMI and headphones outputs are working just fine.
When I was on windows 8 I could make the speakers work by just clicking on disable and re-enable from the sound properties, If I disabled the microphone the speakers started to work again which I have no idea why that used to happen. Now on 8.1 the only way to make them work is by closing the lid or restarting the laptop which is pretty annoying.
These are the current (default settings) I have played with them but nothing fix the issue.

This is a bit of a weird one. Sometimes (perhaps 1 in 20 boots) after logging into my account, the keyboard mapping is screwed up - for instance, typing 'a' on the keyboard displays 'h' or some other random letter or symbol, most other key mappings are messed up also.
When this first occurred, I enabled the touch keyboard, but found that the screwed mapping matched the USB keyboard. Also tried disconnecting/reconnecting the keyboard and uninstalling/re-installing from Device Manager, but no change.
Sometimes the problem goes away after a few minutes, other times I have to log out or reboot.
I figure that it must be something related to the user account, as it would be impossible to login otherwise.
The machine is fully patched, has the latest 8.1 Intel Chipset updates and a clean bill of health according Norton Internet Security.

Jul 7, 2014today I was makeing an essey in microsof office and suddenly my mouse and keyboard. stopped working, replugging the devices didn't worked (did it for 5 times ) , after this I tried to restart the pc I found out that rr button doesn't do anything , after I stopped the power going to pc and open power + pc they worked for only a few seconds and then stopped again . After a few force shutdown( by stopping the power) the pc closes itself after the windos 8 img dissapear . I have a desktop dual core 3.1, 4gb ram , mouse is usb and the keyboard is with Ps/2 .
Update : after waiting 30 min I reopend it, all worked , but after approximate 3 min pc shuted down by itself.

Jul 12, 2014I have a Gateway laptop with windows 8...it shut itself down and restored...it has done this before with no issues. The computer loaded and is at the start page where all the apps are listed. I cannot use the cursor...it doesn't show up. When it goes to sleep usually I can hit the space bar and it responds..but nothing...seem the whole key board is frozen. I have tried the function keys for the cursor and nothing...I have taken my mouse from my other computer to try to use it in the lap top and nothing...I have turned the computer off and on..still nothing.
I use my laptop for work and I am frustrated now that I can't get in to it. It seems locked somehow or stuck. When I hit F1 it does open the desktop page and I see the box appear but I can't click on it. The only way to wake the computer up to see the screen I unplug or replug the power cord in. Other than that it seems to go back to sleep.

Oct 27, 2012my keyboard doesn't work correctly. In most programs and on webpages, the number keys do not work nor do the special characters accessed through the shift key. Sometimes they act like the space bar, other times they repeat the previously typed alpha character.
All works perfectly in MS Word. The numbers on the keypad do work in all programs. I've checked the control panel and can't find any settings that appear to influence this - no accessibility settings, nothing.

Aug 4, 2014I recently bought a SVT11215SG - SVT11215SG : VAIO - Tap 11 : VAIO® Notebook & Computer : Sony Malaysia Everything was working great, no issues, upgraded to Windows 8.1 smoothly.
But a few months later, suddenly the wireless keyboard stops working.
I have tried almost everything to get it to work again but nothing has worked so far.
Following are a list of things I have tried:
1. Use the pairing tool. (Got an error saying "Fail to get the dongle handle".
2. Reset the BIOS settings to default.
3. Reinstall Bluetooth and Wireless drivers.
4. Manually remove the drivers from Device Manager and reinstall them.
5. Use the Sony Vaio Care to get the latest updates.
6. Download and install the updates manually.
7. Check Windows Update for any optional updates.
I later found out that the keyboard does not work in BIOS either so I am not sure if it's a hardware issue. But the lights on the keyboard blink as normal when I turn it ON.
Will I really have to reinstall Windows? If yes, is it okay to reinstall Windows on such a tablet PC?

Feb 4, 2014I created a new user account on my PC (running Win 8.1), and the mute button on my wireless keyboard does not work on the new account. Pressing the mute button causes "Mute" or "Unmute" to appear on the screen briefly, but the sound does not mute or un-mute. The volume up and down buttons work, and if I log into my old user account the mute button still works there. It only doesn't work in the new account.

Nov 15, 2013I uninstalled Intel Smart Connect Technology after experiencing a BSOD that seemed to be caused by a related driver. When the uninstallation tool asked if I wanted to restart now/later, I chose to restart now, which was followed by another BSOD.
Now I can boot into Windows just fine but neither my mouse or my keyboard are working. They work in the BIOS but as soon as Windows is loaded, they stop functioning. I've tried resetting my CMOS but this did not solve the problem. I've also checked that they are enabled in the BIOS.
I would try a system restore but Windows 8 doesn't seem to allow me to boot into repair mode without actually going into Windows first, but I can't do it from Windows because of my malfunctioning peripherals.
I can't use the Windows 8 installation disc to repair because as soon as the message that says "Press any key to continue" comes up, my keyboard stops working. However, it seems I can force the PC to boot from the CD which after a bit of a wait gets me to the Windows installation screen, with my only option being to completely reinstall Windows.
I am able to enter Windows Repair Mode with the Installation disc, but there is no option for Safe Mode and when I attempt to System Restore, I get this error message: "To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore."

May 16, 2014I have a new Dell Inspiron 2350 windows 8.1 for the last week or so the usb wireless keyboard and mouse do not work when the system is booted or after coming out of deep sleep mode. I have to unplug the usb dongle and plug it in again for them to work.
I have already checked the powering saving settings for these devices, and it is disabled. There is no setting in the bios that I can see which would cause this. I have re-installed the drivers. I have tried different USB port. Dell have even replaced the keyboard and mouse and batteries, same problem.
Keyboard And Mouse Not Working Properly - Laptop Beeps On Booting Up
Aug 10, 2014Laptop Keyboard and Mouse is not working properly now. Last time this occurred which was about 3 months ago, I reset-ed Windows 8 and it was all working again. When this occurs, in both incidents, I can't go to bios, can't enter password to login, can't open on-screen keyboard(except sometimes), and even if I get open, using it is same as using the keyboard.
Mouse errors: LMB changes to Select all thing so I can't click anything. This issue is same at least most of the time.
Keyboard errors: This varies a lot from time to time.
I reset-ed OS this time too and the problem still exists unlike before.
Ex: I'm not sure this key is this or not, but it was I think Z is ctrl, x is alt, a don't work, ctrl, alt, shift don't work. Then, keyboard itself keep on pressing space or opening windows support.
And then I updated my BIOS and now the problem was a little bit solved or I think it would be best to say the problem changed bit.
Now z,x,a, spacebar, ctrl, alt, shift, everything working,except ! and maybe a few other keys, but now It keeps pressing caps lock, shift and opening up windows support.
Then I restarted, and now I pressed F2(BIOS) and it let me in. I tried changing the boot priorty order but those keys F5/F6 aren't working, so I restarted, now again I can't press F2.
And sometimes laptop beeps for some reason on booting up.
There are no keyboard drivers except the default one and sticky and filter are all off.

Every day when i playing some games my keyboard randomly stop working (backlight on keyboard still light but LED on num lock is off and buttons don't work) after few seconds my mouse also stop working. Plugin to another USB doesn't work. Only when i disconnect keyboard and connect mouse to other USB mouse work. After restarting system all works fine. Im sure keyboard and mouse is good (testing it on laptop when this happens and its work normal). I have updated drivers and BIOS.

Mar 10, 2014I have a keyboard error that is really putting a hamper on my work right now. this started yesterday, but i can't recall when exactly it started happening.
I have a steel series apex keyboard and windows 8 64-bit
When I press either of these four keys, it shows me on my keyboard settings software and on the on-screen keyboard from windows 8 - that all four are being pressed simultaneously
= left-shift, left-ctrl, right-shift, right-ctrl.
It doesn't matter which of the four i press - all four are treated like they're being pressed down. Also if i press alt, it thinks both alts are being pressed. I have tried:
unplugging, plugging back in
restarting my computer
putting keyboard settings to default
uninstalling and reinstalling all keyboard drivers/software
scanning/fixing registry errors
Also I've tried three different keyboards, a logitech g15, and a standard dell keyboard; they all do produce the same error.

Jul 18, 2014No keyboard or mouse by attempting to add safe mode with networking. What is UEFI? Where do I find this USB viewable option as I am connected by USB?
I went to set up (F2 at boot) > and then searched around for anything that relates to USB and found that USB is enabled and on high speed. Hope that is not it and I am missing something, because I still have no mouse or keyboard.
Keyboard and mouse are the ones that came with the Dell XPS 7100 system. I'll try different USB ports and report back...didn't make a difference.
