Browsers/Mail :: IE Stops Working When Opening First Window?
Feb 3, 2013After upgrading to Windows 8, the I.E. went to hiding, so I retrieved and pin it to task bar. Now, after I open it, it closes right away when I try to go onto a bookmark. The error message says "Internet explorer has stopped working" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

May 31, 2013Almost every day, thunderbird (the Email program) freezes when I am replying to an Email and indicates "not responding". After a time it will "unfreeze" but them may do it again. The only way to reply is to write it on Word and paste it. All other programs seem to work OK.

Jul 30, 2014IE11 seems to have a strange "Feature". When you close a Web site with an active download the whole thing closes and the download disappears -- IE 11 shows no windows open.
However press CTRL+J and you'll see the download lists again. If there's no activity press PAUSE and then press RESUME and then it should continue from where it stopped.
To some this might seem obvious but I've seen people re-start a 2hr download because they thought they had lost their currently active download when they accidentally closed the web site.

Oct 29, 2012Since 48 hours, for all new mails incoming, the hyperlinks (either mail adress or www adresses) won't even be clickable in the mail messages... They show up as normal text, and I have to select, copy and paste them into my browser...
The links are still there fot the less recent mails (those recieved last week)
I really hav'nt changed anything in my settings.. I am syncing a gmail account. The hyperlinks will work in Outlook, and even in my Windows Phone mail app, so I doubt it has anything to do with gmail itself...

Oct 30, 2012i just bought an asus touch screen laptop and i set up my gmail account on the mail app. It worked perfectly, then the next day, it would not sync/update my mail and the top right corner says: my email address is unavailable. I tried everything in the settings tab section, but nothing worked. I removed my gmail account, and tried to re-add my account back in, but then it said: error make sure your info is correct.

May 13, 2014Latest Java updates (64bits and 32bits) work for a while then stop with no warning. Be it HTML chat rooms -not loading- or embedded videos or whatever else. That is on ALL browsers not just IE. Opera, Chrome, Firefox....they all stop working.
(on a strange note, trying to play an embedded video in Opera will result in Opera downloading it rather than playing it)
I shut down all anti viruses, turned off the windows firewall. Uninstalled and reinstalled javas. Even went as far as a full system refresh after which Java again worked for a while then stopped again.

Apr 7, 2014 Here are the 2 issues.
1) The email app in Windows 8.1 on her laptop just stopped working. She can no longer send or receive emails at all from any of her accounts. She says that she believes it has happened before maybe even a couple times a month.
2) This may or may not be related - The main email address in the app is her work email address from an old job. Whether it's related or not, she wants to undo that and have her primary email address to login or whatnot. She has since deleted all of her other email addresses from the app.
Windows 8 - Keyboard Stops Working After MS Account Login
Oct 11, 2013I have 4 computer with none working keyboard after updates. This AM, I put an HP on line after being off line for several weeks (totally removed from home network).
Under BIOS control keyboard works. Enter password and Windows 8.0 takes over. Worked well until I ran update which had 88 updates. Upon restart , keyboard will not work. (Windows 8.0 was installed over Windows w/ all updates)
HP P7-1010 AMD processor 16 gig ram. 450 gig drive

Sep 11, 2013For some reason I can see my Outlook email but when I try to send any emails they automatically get sent to the draft folder and sit there. I also have a Gmail account set up but same problem.

Oct 19, 2013I have upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After doing so and making sure my accounts are all setup, I have found that I can not get the mail tile to act "live". I have verified it is set to live by right-clicking and seeing that link state "turn live tile off". I tried doing that and then turning it back on. I have tried rebooting. But the tile just isn't live. My other live tiles (news, finance, weather, store, etc) all seem to be live. It is only mail that I am having a problem with.

Sep 28, 2013I have a windows 8 laptop, and I was on internet explorer this morning when I was prompted to shut it (this is because of what I was doing, however I know what I was doing was safe as it was checked by Norton and done by may other people, not just me). However, one it shut error messages kept popping up saying internet explorer has stopped working, and the were coming up 30 at a time. As of now, I can click on internet explorer just fine from the app-like view, however what I want to do needs the desktop version, which crashes within seconds of me opening it. The error messages will then start popping up, and the internet is just unusable in desktop mode.

Nov 13, 2012Since upgrading to Windows 8 (from 7) a week ago my Outlook 2010 email has been faulty. It keeps stopping emails coming in or out and I have to (daily) run a 'repair' to get it to work. I contacted my ISP (Virgin) and they said that Outlook doesn't work with Windows 8 and said I should use Live. However, I then added my accounts to Live but it wouldn't accept all of them, and I found the interface very hard to use. Outlook contains all my business folders and email records for my business so I need it to work. It seems to accept my IMAP email account but not the main accounts with my ISP.
My HP desktop machine is less than a year old and has plenty of memory. But also, in general the machine is slower and won't restart (I have to force shut down).

May 14, 2013I upgraded from windows 7 ultimate to windows 8 pro keeping my windows settings, personal files and apps as it is..the upgrading went smooth... but whenever i open IE10 it stops working and says "we're unable to return to..." I even troubleshooted it's performance.... but no luck
Before upgrading i ran the upgrade assistant, and it said inte(r) network connections isn't compatible with the OS... so i completely removed it...then installed Windows 8

Sep 13, 2013I have a Toshiba laptop running windows 8.1 and the issue that Im facing is that suddenly sound stops working, most likely when playing youtube videos. This is what I've done so far:
Reinstalling drivers (microsoft, realtek, conexant)
Upgraded to 8.1 (I had this issue as after a few weeks I installed windows 8, never happened on 7)
HDMI and headphones outputs are working just fine.
When I was on windows 8 I could make the speakers work by just clicking on disable and re-enable from the sound properties, If I disabled the microphone the speakers started to work again which I have no idea why that used to happen. Now on 8.1 the only way to make them work is by closing the lid or restarting the laptop which is pretty annoying.
These are the current (default settings) I have played with them but nothing fix the issue.
Windows 8 Browsers - Music From Videos Stops?
Nov 8, 2012My question is about IE, Google Chrome and other browsers. The sounds and musics playing on the browsers I have installed, stops every time I switch to another application. For example: If I open a music video on youtube and switch to the e-mail app, the video continue playing but the sound and music stops. I wonder if any of you have already noticed that and if you know if it's possible to fix this issue (for me this is a problem since I like to play some videos and do other stuff while I listen to what is playing).

So far I have reset it, opened it as administrator and turned off smart screen filter - to no effect.
Should I try to disable EI from the Uninstall Programs - Turn Windows on or off?

Aug 3, 2014I have been always a Microsoft person. But I have tried any and all fixes to try and get internet explorer to stop coming up with internet explorer has stopped working will search for a problem.
I as of today have disabled it and are using another browser that does not have this bug in it. I am having no trouble with the browser I am using, and it does not stop working like ie 11. I do not think you should have to go threw all hoops and loops to get this to work correctly. Microsoft should come up with something that works correctly all the time and you do not have to check add ins, disable other items or what not.

Apr 15, 2014I was recording with my internal realtalk hd mic on my laptop, but it stops working everytime I plug in my head set. There's nothing special about this headset, and there's no microphone on it. Sadly, my RT mic does this with any headset I use. It's frustrating when I unplug my headset and the mic begins to work fine again. Is there any reason why it might be doing this? Whenever I try to configure the mic, it simply just doesn't recognize any noise being made when the headphoes are plugged in.

Jul 13, 2014For the past few days my laptop, a Windows 8 Samsung model with Intel core i5, has been acting up for the first time since I purchased it last year. I've been away on vacation for three weeks, and have not used it during that period, so when I returned the system naturally installed itself with new updates. But ever since then, my audio driver has not worked whenever I initially booted the computer (i.e. there is no sound); interestingly, YouTube videos also refuse to load. It is only when I restart the computer, or disable then enable the driver manually, that things return to normal. Or, at least, somewhat.
For when I try to shutdown the system, the computer hangs and just doesn't shutdown. It seemingly performs the processes required for it, the screen darkens, but the system does not power off. The first time I had to manually turn off the power, but last night I simply let it continue with the hope that it would shutdown eventually. It did... but only because my laptop battery ran out.
Before System Restore recommended, I tried that route already. No matter which restore point I used, the system told me that each restore was unsuccessful due to the possibility that my C drive was corrupt. I don't know if that's the case - certainly something is wrong - but I'm at a loss as to exactly what to do.
