I have a Surface tablet. When trying to download an app I get sent to the security verification page where you eventually are emailed a code that you must enter to continue. How do I get back to that page after checking my email? If I start over again downloading the app I wind up back at the start of the verification process and the code I was sent no longer works. At home I can use my phone to get the email, but out of the country I may not be able to use my phone.
For a week or so whenever I click and go to either email or address book etc. within 20 seconds I get flipped back to the Windows 8 Start page. It happens every time without fail. Is it something I have done or has the system developed a fault?
On the desktop version of internet explorer I can right click on the back button and choose which page I would like to go back to. I can't find this option anywhere in the retro version.
i have recently bought a new laptop, windows 8. Its a Lenovo Ideapad Y50.
At first i had a password and a pincode, i was able to switch between the 2 login options at the login screen, i always used the pincode, as it was faster. I forgot the password. And somehow the option to choose between the 2, is now gone. To conclude, i am unablebto login to my laptop, as i dont know the password and it is not allowing me to login through my pincode. The account is not a microsoft account, so i cant just go to there website and change my password. Nor do i have a password reset disk. I have tried all the passwords i know and have no clue what to do next.
When I do a search of the registry, I get the following errors:
Failed to open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesWow6432Nodeigfxdv32.CUIDriver while searching the Registry on Local Computer, Windows reported error code 2.
Registry Search Error. Failed to open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesWow6432Nodeigfxdv32.CUIDriver.1 while searching the Registry on Local Computer, Windows reported error code 2.
[Code] .....
If I try to delete or modify any of these entries, they cannot be accessed through regedit but are available to PsExec.exe from System Internals. I haven't tried deleting these entries for obvious reasons since I do not know if they are essential or not.
I don't use metro, but there is this one app I really like. So I want to buy it. When I try this, I have to fill in my Email adress which for me is the preferred way to receive it. I follow up all the instructions, fill in the right adresses and wait.....But I never get a code. I've got a MS account.
I recently built a new pc and installed 8.1. But i've been getting infrequent bdsod's with the code System_Service_Exception. I've installed all of the latest drivers as part of the new build with the only exception being the drivers for my Plantronic Gamecom 780 headphones with Plantronics unable to produce a windows 8 driver for them.
Windows 8 factory install on HP 500-056 updated to Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Store.
Since the update, when I shut my computer down at night, there's a mysterious error code that doesn't stay on the desktop long enough for me to read it.
It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, but it's an error code and I don't want it there, needless to say.
I've just got Windows 8, and I'm really happy for it. My only problem is that I accident wrote my activation code wrong in the P c-Settings, and now i am not able to change it. It just keeps coming with this error. How am i able to change it?
Like the tittle states is it possible for a browser or browser extension to cause memory leak in the non page-pool.
A couple of of day ago I switch over to Opera and had memory leak in the non page-pool that paralyzed the machine till I rebooted.
Asking cause a few days prior I was messing around with a few of my drivers and I have a new motherboard coming and was thinking of just popping the hard drive on without doing a fresh install of windows, since I have an upgrade version of Windows 8.
I just tried to print a web page that I had up. Control-P didn't work and when I went to the charms, it told me that I could only print from apps? I'm confused.
I know if I transfer over to the desktop version of the home screen I can find out the percent of battery power remaining by placing the cursor over the little battery icon in the lower right of the task bar. But on the native 8.1 Start (the one with the metro tiles) screen I see no way to easily check remaining battery power. I searched the Windows Store for an app that would do this and there are none that I can find. Odd because the Android Play Store has dozens of apps that do this. tell me if there is an easy way to check battery power from the Start screen?
This may well not be the right place to post this.. this is happening on my pc when I change pages at times.I need to know which of these I should have ticked ?
I've gotten a message, " page cannot be displayed ".. with a message to make sure SSL and TSL should be checked.
I am struggling to get the right size page like A4 when printing specific stuff, I just don't seem to get it right, what I want to do is = put some text on a page and put some pictures onto the same page as I am using a special paper and don't want to make any more mistakes as it is expensive ive printed previously on normal A4 plain paper i have wasted tons so i want text, pictures together on the same sheet not spread all over the sheet. I have used the printer properties etc
I have hp pavilion g6-2249 wm notebook. My laptop is 4 months old. Two days ago when I started my pc, the welcome page opens and then I sign in. Everything is ok on the apps page that immediately opens. If I click the desktop app icon, it goes to the desktop and the entire page starts to flash, it shows the desktop for 2 seconds and then then flashes to blue for 5 seconds and back and forth, etc.
The desktop will not stay open long enough for me to do anything. I cannot get it to start in safe mode. I clicked F8 repeatedly on start up but nothing happens. I used the esc on startup and ran every test offered except BIOS. I don't know what to do with that so I didn't mess with it. All tests were ok.
If I go back to the app page from the flashing desktop, the app page and charms start flashing also. I can't even shut down properly then. Norton 360 runs in the background all the time but I can't get to it to do a scan. I can't get to any file. The only way to get online is to turn off pc and turn on later. App page does not flash at that time. I go to search and click on Explorer and I can go to my homepage. If I click on required addons then the background starts flashing and I have to reset my cursor every two letter that I type.
I'm running Windows 8.1 and think I have run into the same issue [URL] .....
My Anti-Virus has picked up a program which has removed the default page in question from my Chrome. However, when I open Internet Explorer, that page- "[URL] ...." opens and I have done everything I can to remove it. I've went into the Internet settings and removed it from default pages, etc and changed my homepage, but the page still persists. I believe I have also removed any relevant suspect programs from 'add or remove programs' but the problem page still persists.
Again, the antivirus seems to have removed all trace of 'iStartSurf' from my Google Chrome. I do not use Internet Explorer but these kinds of issues make me quite paranoid. Just whatever I do, Internet Explorer opens with that iStartSurf page.
I've put the iStartSurf page on the blocked site list for Internet Explorer which causes it to load no media on the page when IE opens up. However I'd still like to have it removed altogether.
I have built a rig to be predominantly used with Adobe Creative Cloud Programs. 32gb of ram, a 256gb ssd for Windows 8 (64-bit) and programs, a 64gb ssd for a home testing server, 3 hdd for storage, and another 64 gb ssd. I want to use the 3rd ssd for the Windows 8 page file and PhotoShop's swap file. My question is, how much of that should be used for each. I understand that the page file needs to be in its own partition, and I plan on allocating the remaining room for the swap file, but what size should I make the page file partition?

I have bought lenovo g50-70 just 20days back, it came with inbuilt windows 8.1, they did not give any recoverable disks with it rather they said to take back up of the OS into a usb stick but I forgot to take the backup and tried to partition the hard disk using EASEUS Partition manager then I got this error "0XC0000225"
I have a segate 1TB external HDD and right now I barely have anything stored on it. Well, just now when i tried creating a new folder i keep getting error code 0x08000FFFF! What the hell?! This HDD is not even 2 months old! Is it curtains for the drive? Or is there some action I can take?
