I have a segate 1TB external HDD and right now I barely have anything stored on it. Well, just now when i tried creating a new folder i keep getting error code 0x08000FFFF! What the hell?! This HDD is not even 2 months old! Is it curtains for the drive? Or is there some action I can take?
View 5 RepliesI keep getting this error when I try to create or delete a folder. I also cannot use applications which create temporary folder such as WinRAR.
The error says this: "An unexpected error is keeping you from creating the folder. If you continue receive this error, you can use the error code to search for solution of this problem. Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
I tried all the possible options to solve this problem except for reinstalling the Windows.
Everytime I turn off my system the normal way, the next time I turn it on, it boots twice before Windows logon display and, in the worst, a BSOD shows this message: "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" related with "iaStorA.sys"
I've already tried checking any problem with components of my laptop with Dell software and after hours of tests it doesn't found anything wrong, so I hope this is something with software and not a compatibility problem of the new HDD with my laptop at all. My husband recently and unknowingly deleted it and it contained all of my pictures from the past 5 years. After he deleted it, I tried restoring it from the recycle bin and I think it mightve messed up the encryption or something because now I can't get back into it and it doesn't even ask for a password. It just says it's empty.

If I try to delete or modify any of these entries, they cannot be accessed through regedit but are available to PsExec.exe from System Internals. I haven't tried deleting these entries for obvious reasons since I do not know if they are essential or not.
Windows 8 factory install on HP 500-056 updated to Windows 8.1 from the Microsoft Store.
Since the update, when I shut my computer down at night, there's a mysterious error code that doesn't stay on the desktop long enough for me to read it.
It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, but it's an error code and I don't want it there, needless to say.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince 2 days ago I've noticed that I cannot create a new folder with File Explorer by any way possible. Using the taskbar or the SHIFT + Ctrl + N. Even when saving projects with Save File as... and trying to use the "New Folder" text string button does not create any folder. Using CMD prompt or powershell all works well as with Total Commander which i only installed to see if it could create folders and it does. Other programs that auto create folders also works well (i.e. Foobar when transcoding to new unavailable folder). My Windows 8 Pro is original, it's a 4 month old install, I've not made any customizations, no registry hacks, Windows is bare apart from Classic Shell which i only use now as a custom button to go to start screen with the mouse. I also made a custom High Contrast Theme that i use at night or when eyes are a bit tired. It's 2 months old so it's there long before the problem.I've not installed any new programs in the last week apart from some updates from FileZilla, Foxit pdf and Notepad++.Last system update is COPICOM from 13 July.I followed this guide which as not resolved the problem: I cannot find a way to create a new folder in Windows 8. -

lately Iv'e been having trouble booting my windows 7 and decided that it's time to upgrade, I bought a copy ofr windows 8 64-bit from microsoft and burned it onto a disk using the windows 7 usb/dvd downloader. I was doing all this from a 32-bit and thus applied the bootsect.exe as needed. When i boot from the disk, everything runs smoothly. I insert the required code and select custom install.
At this point, i select the partitiion and proceed. as the installation proceeeds, it does not apear if the first phase of installation does anything, even after 5 minutes it stays at 0%. after it finaly switches to the next part, I wait again for the next phase, but it only throws up a message "windows cannot install required files. make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. error code 0x8007048F"
After multiple attempts I decided to reinstall windows 7, but now I get the same error.
In Win Mail I keep getting this error code every time I try to send in receive on just one of my mail accounts. It is a .rr. account. I can send and receive, but I keeps filling my inbox with the same emails over and over. Almost like the emails haven't "cleared the server" and the server keeps sending me the same emails.

If I extract a zip file and tell it to extract to a folder. the folder it creates is read only.
Happens under both login accounts.
At the moment i have a folder titled 'games'. I have dragged it to the taskbar hoping it will create a separate icon for the folder but instead it pinned it in the windows explorer icon. I know have to right click the explorer icon & then select 'games'. How to get it out of the explorer list & create a separate icon.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm getting quite regular BSODs and crashes, previously I was getting crashes from AMD 14.7 beta drives so I swapped down to the 14.4 drivers. Now I'm not getting BSODs from atikmdag.sys, but I'm getting BSODs from what looks like ntoskrnl.exe. Additionally sometimes my computer will freeze, the display will show a static image, and the computer won't respond to keyboard/mouse input. Sounds can be heard to play as normal indefinitely (I haven't left it for more than a minute so not sure how long it would continue). This suggests to me that it's a display driver problem.

This is my dxdiag, I'm running an A10-7850k, 8gb corsair vengence pro 2400mhz, fm2a88x-itx+ and an 840 evo ssd.
I can upload any requested dump files or information.
I couldn't use SF diagnostic tool because I don't have .NET framework 3.5 installed, and when trying to install it I got error code 0x800F0906, and following all of MS's instructions failed (could still connected to update server, just not for .NET 3.5, using install media failed probably because 8 is different to 8.1).
This is what BlueScreenView calls a "minidump" (this is for the most recent crash shown above. I'm not sure if this is any different from what SF Debug collects).

I'm having a problem trying to restore Win 8.1 after a crash. All I get is a blue screen with an error code.
I finally deduced that I was having a hardware problem with my beloved SSD (weird glitches and erratic behavior, occasional recognition errors in BIOS, and finally I/O errors when trying to restore from backup), so I pulled it out, and temporarily replaced it with a spare HDD of slightly larger size. The backup/restore program I use is Paragon, and it has worked flawlessly for me for some time, including when I migrated Win 8.0 to that SSD over a year ago. So I pulled up the last full-disk backup (from 4 weeks ago) and did a Restore to the replacement HDD, but the resulting installation will not boot. I've tried it several times, including using a different archive, and each time I get a blue screen saying "Your PC needs to be repaired", with an error code 0xc0000034.
What is this error code, and how do I go about fixing the problem? Is there some kind of issue with restoring an SSD backup to an HDD? (I know there is something about the partition alignment which may be different, for instance.) This program worked just fine in the opposite direction, meaning restoring a backup of an HDD to the SSD.
I might have been able to use the recovery media to fix the problem, if I had the current media... unfortunately, the disk I created was from prior to the 8.1 upgrade, and it won't work anymore. My mistake. But short of a clean install back to 8.0, and then another upgrade to 8.1.
I Im getting an error when trying to add a components it says visual basic 6.0 object library not registered and underneath that it shows cwindowsyswow64mscomctil.ocx, how can i fixes this I have tried a lot of programs to fix the registry error fixes , but it still dose not work. View 12 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Windows 8 64 Bit on a HP 2530p laptop using a USB Flash Drive that I set up with DiskPart and copied OS files to - from DVD disc. I first tried to install using a DVD disc in a external DVD RW I plugged into USB port of laptop - this laptop has no built-in optical drive. I got the same error code with DVD disc that I get with USB Flash drive. I formatted HD during beginning of install so there is no OS on laptop...

I ran a MemTest86 and did a HD Test from BIOS and both passed.
My laptop is ASUS S46C, come with window 8 OEM 64bit. As a diligent updater, i gt 8.1 through the window store. A few days ago, i gt error code 0xc0000185 with the BSOD. I borrowed a window 8 dvd and somehow able to bypass the problem without reinstalling the window.
But now the system seems corrupted or lack of some system files as explorer and firefox always freeze. But when i tried to refresh/reset the BSOD appeared again with the error code 0xc0000185.
I have tried to created an iso file but both the normal product ID and the product key i found by Belarc Advisor does not work. I guess OEM key is no use after all. So can i know what are my options?

When I go to download/ install this, it moves realy fast, then stops and says: "Windows couldn't complete the requested changes" with the error code '0x800F081F'.
