Error 0x80070570 When Try To Create Or Delete A Folder

Apr 8, 2013

I keep getting this error when I try to create or delete a folder. I also cannot use applications which create temporary folder such as WinRAR.

The error says this: "An unexpected error is keeping you from creating the folder. If you continue receive this error, you can use the error code to search for solution of this problem. Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

I tried all the possible options to solve this problem except for reinstalling the Windows.

Setup Installation :: Error 0x80070570 During 8.1 Install

Jan 5, 2014

I recently built a rig (spec below) and originally installed windows 7.

I decided today I would install windows 8.1 as I get it for free from my university. I booted the installation disc in EFI mode, wiped the SSD and deleted all partitions. I let windows create the partitions it needs and proceeded to install.

The installation got up to 2% in expanding windows files and showed error:

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure that all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x800070570.

I rebooted and tried again several times and the same thing happened whether I chose EFI cd boot or not.

I then reinstalled windows 7 without any issues, and downloaded an 8.1 pro disc image from mydigitallife. The installation got a little further into expanding windows files, but the same error came up again.

Ive been reading that it may be a memory issue so i'm the process of reinstalling windows 7 and running memtest86+, but I doubt this is the case as its a mew system and windows 7 has no trouble

System Spec:

Mobo: Asus P8 Z77-V LX2
CPU: Intel i7 2600k (no overclock)
RAM: Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600mhz (one module)
GPU: GeForce 650Ti

Setup Installation :: Win 8 64 Bit Install Error Code 0x80070570

Mar 14, 2014

I am trying to install Windows 8 64 Bit on a HP 2530p laptop using a USB Flash Drive that I set up with DiskPart and copied OS files to - from DVD disc. I first tried to install using a DVD disc in a external DVD RW I plugged into USB port of laptop - this laptop has no built-in optical drive. I got the same error code with DVD disc that I get with USB Flash drive. I formatted HD during beginning of install so there is no OS on laptop...

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570.

I ran a MemTest86 and did a HD Test from BIOS and both passed.

Make Folder Difficult To Delete

Oct 12, 2012

I want to make a folder (and anything inside of it) difficult to delete. Can I create a new owner for it so that I would have to take the steps to change that in order to delete it ? I'm not looking for anything fool-proof, just something to make it not so easy to accidentally delete. I'm not too savvy with owners and permissions so I'm not really sure what to do or even if I'm on the right track.

Administrator Permission To Delete Folder

Sep 17, 2013

I have a game file that I have deleted/modified many, many times with no problem and now it seems I don't have permission to do so.

I used information from Take Ownership of a File, Folder, Drive, or Registry Key in Windows 8 to add the convenient "Take Ownership" option for files and I have ownership of the file in question.

It shows that I have "Full Control" over the file.

But when I try to delete the file I get:

When I click "Try Again" I get:

why I lost permission to do this all of the sudden and how do I make sure it doesn't happen again?

How To Delete AVI File In Downloads Folder

Feb 4, 2014

So i'm trying to delete this file i have in my downloads folder, which is a normal .avi file. however, this file is really broken, it wont delete. I suspect this file makes my folder not showing thumbnails and acting slow and sometimes wont show anything at all, just a loading bar thing.

i tried deleting with cmd prompt, while explorer.exe is off, but command prompt stops responding.
i tried searching the folder for viruses, finds nothing.
i tried downloading Unlocker to delete it, but ends up with unlocker stops responding.
i tried quarantine the file, it gets into quarantine in NOD32 but the file is also still in my download folder, and NOD stops responding.

i get no message at all trying to delete it, it's just that nothing at all happens.

What is wrong with this file?! It plays fine though, just like a normal .avi file. Is there anything else i can try? cmd prompt and NOD32 don't get the windows "has stopped working" message, they just stop responding to me clicking any button in NOD32, or writing new text in cmd prompt. i can exit them as normal.

How To Delete Content In Unreachable Folder

Aug 19, 2014

I was trying to recover some lost files with recovery software, I came across something unpleasant - my partitions contain 'Found' folder that contains 'Found.NNNN' N for numbers, folders that contain files previously deleted with their filenames also remaining. I want these files cleared, the thing is, unlike $RECYCLE.BIN that can be accessed if you unhide system folders and such, these folders do not exist and yet recovery software finds them.

Can you tell me what application can erase these folders and files so that they do not appear under the recovery software? Eraser does not detect the folder as existent. It is something like ROOTFolder but I don't know which erasing program can find and delete the whole folder.

How To Clean Up 8.1 System And Folder That Not Allow To Delete Or Move

Apr 30, 2014

I was trying to clean up my 8.1 system and encountered a folder that it won't allow me to delete or move. It is in C:users[me]appdatalocal emp and is named rarsfx4. It appears to have been used by my AV pgm., Bitdefender, at install time. When I attempt to delete it, it asks me if I want to move it to the recycle bin. I click Yes. Then it says I need to provide administrator permission to delete it. I click Continue. Then a little window pops up and quickly disappears that says '234 items recycled.' Then another window appears that says 'You require permission from xxxme to make changes to this folder' and gives me only the option to try again, which just repeats this last process. xxx is my PC name, and xxxme is my user profile name, not any user account name that shows up in Control Panel, User Accounts. (I have only one user account, which is a network one, my gmail ID.) When I check Properties, Security, for the folder, I see that System, my network user account (which is an administrator), and Administrators (xxxAdministrators) all have full control. When I click on Advanced under Security above, the owner is displayed as Administrators (xxxAdministrators).

I also tried deleting the folder using Command Prompt, Run as administrator, but get 'access denied' for every file.

My questions are what is going on here, and what can I do to remedy it?

Unable To Unhide Or Delete A Folder Windows 8

Jul 10, 2013

I was moving my default user folder locations, where I have managed to move 'My Pictures' and 'My Documents' successfully. however when I was moving Documents folder I made a mistake of selecting the whole 'e:' drive as the target location instead of 'e:download'. As I don't want the E: to be the target location I have reverted it back.

Now for some reasons I am not able to delete Downloads folder that I created manually in E: drive. That folder is hidden, it doesn't show even when I select the option to show hidden files and folders. However the files in that Download folder are showing up when I search them.

To open the 'Documents' properties I selected one of the file from the search list, right clicked and selected open file location. so finally when I saw the properties of the folder it says hidden, and it is not allowing me to uncheck it. I tried changing permissions of the folder but still no luck. I even used command prompt to delete that folder, but it says access denied.

All I now need is I want to delete the folder 'Download' in my E: drive. I am the admin of my windows 8 pc.

Cannot Create New Folder Using File Explorer?

Aug 1, 2013

Since 2 days ago I've noticed that I cannot create a new folder with File Explorer by any way possible. Using the taskbar or the SHIFT + Ctrl + N. Even when saving projects with Save File as... and trying to use the "New Folder" text string button does not create any folder. Using CMD prompt or powershell all works well as with Total Commander which i only installed to see if it could create folders and it does. Other programs that auto create folders also works well (i.e. Foobar when transcoding to new unavailable folder). My Windows 8 Pro is original, it's a 4 month old install, I've not made any customizations, no registry hacks, Windows is bare apart from Classic Shell which i only use now as a custom button to go to start screen with the mouse. I also made a custom High Contrast Theme that i use at night or when eyes are a bit tired. It's 2 months old so it's there long before the problem.I've not installed any new programs in the last week apart from some updates from FileZilla, Foxit pdf and Notepad++.Last system update is COPICOM from 13 July.I followed this guide which as not resolved the problem: I cannot find a way to create a new folder in Windows 8. -

Browsers/Mail :: Windows Live - Delete Message Generate Error

Jul 16, 2014

When you try to delete WLM messages you get this error

"An unknown error has occurred" and the message cannot be deleted.

People with this problem, often need to delete multiple messages or entire folders. That error appears because WLM only thinks it has that/those message(s), but actually that message is nowhere to be found in the the Windows email folders. The message exists no longer, but WLM still shows it as being in its own folders and you simply cannot delete it using the normal procedure.

For the easier way, one can drag the unwanted and non-existing emails to the Deleted Items folder, one by one. However, that is crazy when you have to get rid of hundreds or thousands of them (yes, I had that situation!).

This is how to trick WLM if you want to delete multiple emails giving you that error:

1. We try to simulate forwarding multiple messages. Select multiple emails by clicking on one and then using SHIFT to click and select multiple concatenated messages. Do that screen after screen (scroll down/up). Stop when you see the FORWARD button has become grey. That means one email is even more stubborn and doesn't even want to be forwarded.

2. Hold the SHIFT key and click the messages up and down until you find the culprit. It will be just outside your selection, when your selection manages to un-grey the Forward button.

3. With a lot of messages selected and concatenated, click on the Forward button. You'll get another error message "One or more messages could not be attached. Select OK to continue creating the note." Click Cancel.

4. Now something has unblocked those messages (or message information) and, with the selection on, you can Delete them by simply clicking the Red X (delete) button.

5. The message that made the Forward button grey, can now be deleted as well.

6. Keep doing that until you finish the bunch of messaged you wanted to delete when you got the initial error.

Can't Create System Image - 0x80780119 Error After Upgrade From 8 To 8.1

Oct 19, 2013

I have upgraded my Windows 8 PC to 8.1 yesterday and it seemed like everything is working fine until I tried to create System Image. I got an error 0x80780119 saying that there is to little space on one of the partitions.

I started looking into this problem and indeed one of the partitions does not meet the requirements. There are following partitions on my drive:

Code:
DISKPART> list partition

Partition ### Type Size Offset
------------- ---------------- ------- -------
Partition 1 Recovery 300 MB 1024 KB
Partition 2 System 100 MB 301 MB
Partition 3 Reserved 128 MB 401 MB
Partition 4 Primary 74 GB 529 MB
Partition 5 Primary 390 GB 75 GB

Partition 1 has only 13MB free space. Partition 2 has 70MB free space, partition 3 is MSFTRES, partition 4 is my C drive with around 35GB free and partition 5 is not included in system image.
Partitions were create like this during installation of Windows 8 - clean install from scratch. I am using UEFI so the drive is GPT formatted.

So I thought, OK I can resize my C drive a little, move the partitions and expand the 1st one. I tried using GParted but it is not able to move the MSFTRES partition. It does not recognize the file system on it.

So the question is: Is it possible to "clean up" the 1st partition in anyway? If not, is there anything special about MSFTRES partition? Or can I just remove it and create it a little further and just flag it as msftres with GParted?
