Feb 1, 2013I have an Asus P5QL VM DO montherboard in my homemade PC. This is an older system that I use for testing, so I put my Windows 8 install on it. Unfortunately, the Asus driver installation CD will not run in Win 8, and I am missing one driver which I am unable to locate anywhere. It is for the PCI Simpe Communications Controller.

However the Asus download site for this board does not list Win 8 as compatible OS - only up to Win 7.
I am thinking of upgrading but don't want to rebuild my PC to do this.

Sep 15, 2014I just installed W 8.1 recently. It's having incompatibility issues with my Patriot ram stick. I contacted Patriot and they want my motherboard model. Problem is I can't find my motherboard model on 8.1
I looked for system information but they removed it. I'm going to all these sites that lead me to downloading these third party apps I don't even trust to find it.
Why exactly they removed system information? It was a very useful and easy tool to go to find information on your CPU. It seems like I'm one of the few who have that issue since I see only a few complaining about it though.
Anyway, I need to find motherboard model without disassembling my PC.

An 3GB ISO which I copy from my HDD to an USB3.0 USB-stick gets a max speed of 25 mb per second. I have already tried everything I could think of, including the following:

EDIT1: A few months back, when the laptop was still running Windows 7, the read/write speeds were "normal", meaning that they were what you would expect from USB 3.0.

Jun 22, 2013I have an Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe. It replaces a motherboard that failed. I have moved the Win 7 image over to the new board using a "restore to other hardware" feature in a backup program. It did not work properly. I am not able to get some drivers to install. For various (and sufficient) reasons I really really don't want to do a clean install. When I first booted, it would not even boot until I used Win PE to repair the boot. Various squirrely things are still wrong. Like not being able to see more than one hard drive. Occasional crashes for no obvious reason.
For an SATA controller when I run update driver or running the Intel INF setup program provided by Asus I get a message:
7 series/C216 SATA AHCI controller 1E02 Also This operation requires an interactive windows station.
I have just run the Intel update program and it says it can't identify a device an I need to contact the board manufacturer.
An alternative I am considering is to install a Win 8 update over the Win 7 telling Win 8 to retain my programs, settings, and data. But I am not sure this will get me where I want to go. My major question about that is will the Win 8 installation be clever enough to use all of the driver files from Asus that I have downloaded (and I point it to) rather than installing something like the incorrect ones currently installed?

Mar 4, 2013My roommate has a custom desktop PC, which runs Windows 8 x64.
It can't connect to the internet, or the local network. Windows says limited connection, but ping the router IP yields only lost packages. Solving the error with the automatic error solver, displays problems with the DNS.
The roommate says the connection has worked for a limited time, for about a 1/2 hour, but fell out from time to time.
He has tried to connect to our wireless router, a wireless n d-link dir615. It is set to WPA/WPA2 with AES cipher and PSK.The router runs the newest firmware available, which gives no issues for any other device in the house. (Including Iphones, android phones, old and new N-capable, and N-incapable laptops and desktops).
His PC has an almost unused Asus PCE N15 wireless adapter installed.He says it worked on a different network (He just moved in).
I have tried to give him a static IP and dns, both in windows, and get the router to assign one to him.
I have tried to give him an alternative DNS, e.g. OpenDNS.
I have tried to update his drivers, both the ones provided from Asus, but also one from realtek, since the NIC has a realtek chip on it.

Jun 6, 2014I have recently built a new computer and installed Windows 8. All was running fine (including USB devices such as iPhone, flash drive etc), however since upgrading to Windows 8.1, none of my USB devices are showing up at all. Oddly, the mouse and keyboard still work.
When I go into the BIOS, all my devices (iPhone, Flash drive, keyboard and mouse etc) all show up in there, so I'm guessing it's a driver/Windows 8.1 issue that I'm missing?
I have been to the ASUS website and downloaded all the drivers I can find, but still no luck.
My motherboard is an "Asus Z97 Pro". I have tried contacting Asus support, but they are completely useless!

Jul 28, 2014I have an ASUS S400CA running Windows 8.1 (64 bit) and I am having a major issue. When I click Fn + F5/F6 to increase or decrease the brightness, nothing is happening. The slider is stuck beyond a point and the brightness does not change regardless (it is stuck at the highest setting). I have tried to fix this issue by changing brightness settings in the Control Panel, Battery Options, etc. but nothing is working.
I have tried to find previous versions of the Intel HD Graphics 4000 Driver on the Asus website but only find the one I am using. What should I do?

Dec 21, 2013I have an Asus CM6730 PC, bought in October, which had Windows 8 installed on it.
Everything was fine, until I decided to install the upgrade to Windows 8.1.
After a week or so, my mouse started to freeze up randomly and the only way to log out of the PC was by holding the power button down for several seconds. The next day, I was working on the PC, took a phone call and the machine went into standby mode - but wouldn't come back on when I press a key / moved mouse.
At that point I decided to restore the machine back to factory settings. This was done successfully so I was back to Windows 8. However - my problems have got worse - and now I am at the stage where the PC wont even boot up in Safe Mode - the screen just goes black.
I have read up on a few sites and I believe it could anything from driver related - to a faulty motherboard.

Here's what I did: I disconnected the battery, I pressed the power button 30 seconds and not fixed. I reset BIOS F2, F9 and F10 and again not repaired. I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI method battery and nothing. Do you think that a BIOS update will fix the fault? Mention that no longer turn on the battery.

Sep 15, 2014I'm trying to confirm whether or not TRIM is actually working on my system and I can't find any definitive answers.
I'm on a new Asus G750JZ-DB73, which has dual SanDisk 128 GB SSDs in RAID0. I've heard that TRIM was incompatible with RAID, but I've also seen recent reports claiming that newer drives or motherboards or whatever did allow for TRIM with RAID drives. My knowledge if techese is limited, so I'm unsure what to believe.
Secondly, I've encrypted my SSD(s) using DiskCryptor without issue, and DiskCryptor claims full compatibility with both RAID and TRIM.
Here's where I get confused. Both CrystalDiskInfo and the "fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify" command in Command Prompt indicate that TRIM is enabled on my system. However, when I use TRIMcheck, I'm informed that TRIM doesn't appear to be working.
How can I conclusively verify if TRIM is working for me? And if it isn't, is there a way to activate it on my system?
EDIT: The SSD is a SanDisk SD5SE2256G1002E.

There is an audible constant disk trashing, although the HDD LED doesn't blink & the Performance monitor in the task manager also doesn't indicate any excessive disk access (literally 0% when nothing is going on). What could cause this? Besides the annoying sound, I'm worried about the disk wearing out.

Jun 27, 2013I have an Asus laptop with Windows 8 64-Bit on it and I uninstalled AsusDVD after having some issues with it. After I did this my laptop no longer allowed me to play DVDs. Despite having Windows Media Player, which I know plays DVDs since I have it on my desktop.
Is there a way that I can change some settings to use Windows Media Player? When I open "Autoplay" Windows Media Player is not an option to play it on and there isn't anything else on my laptop that can play it. I tried a few different free DVD players, but none were able to play them for some reason.
How I can get Windows Media Player to play DVDs or suggest a free software that I can download that will play DVDs?

The problem I am having is that the SD card disconnects after a few minutes of no activity, I then have to take it out of the tablet and pout it back in. I then have the folder in my C Drive again. Sep 15, 2014we ordered a bunch of Asus T100TA transformer book tablets for a customer. One of them wouldn't recognize bluetooth or wi-fi and it had a problem with the Broadcom Serial Bus Driver over UART Bus Enumerator. After numerous driver downloads and installs and even a full factory restore (whatever option in windows 8 where it deletes everything and reinstalls the OS), the issue still persisted. Since the tablet was brand new, we just submitted a DOA request from our wholesaler and sent the tablet back. No big deal, figured it was a hardware issue. The other day, a Lenovo tablet came in with the EXACT same problem. Again driver installs, factory restore etc and the issue is still there. SO obviously it's not a hardware issue Again, both units have had drivers, bios and factory restores and the issue is still there, immediately after factory restore.

Above the F1-F4 keys i have three buttons to mute, increase and decrease the volume which do not work. The keyboard shortcut's for muting, decreasing and increasing volume do not work either (Fn+F10-F12) but the shortcut for decreasing brightness and turning the screen off works (Fn+F5-F7) If there is any way to get this working again.

Dec 28, 2012I was reading online that Windows 8 will just reinitialize itself if you make any significant hardware changes. Kind of like what it did during the first install/boot.
So because of this I had not backed anything up (it's all replaceable I just would really rather not set everything up again).
The message I'm getting at startup is "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
Windows 8 is installed on my Vertex2 SSD which is being recognized by the bios along with my other drives. I ensured that the SSD was selected as first boot device which it was and disabled the other ones for giggles. Still nothing.
Why won't it boot? I didn't change anything other than the motherboard
