I want to install Win 8.1 on my Laptop (K53SD)
But I can't find the drivers for it. Also there is no drivers for win 8.1 for my laptop in ASUS site.
How can I find drivers of ASUS K53SD for Win 8.1???
I recently purchased a new Asus laptop and have been having problems with my home network. I get disconnected probably once every 15 minutes and when the trouble shooter was run I get "default gateway unavaliable"
I believe this is due to my router. I have Comcast and it seems whenever I am connected to mine (or my girlfriends same model and make) I get disconnected but at my parent's house I dont have any problems.
I talked to the ASUS people and was given a driver that didnt work (as far as I know I installed it correctly) and was also told to refresh my computer to factory settings incase it was something I installed. Neither worked.

I have an Asus computer running windows 8. When I open the network connections I cant see the list of available networks. I see my own connection to the internet which is named Network but that is all I see. when I check it on my laptop also running windows 8 I see a full list of available networks. Is there a setting in windows that will allow me to see this or is something blocking the list from being displayed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor the last week or so, I've been having issues with my ASUS notebook disconnecting from my wireless network or having a limited connection. This would happen maybe twice a day, but eventually I went online and I found that I had an outdated driver for my Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230, and as soon as I downloaded the latest driver, my notebook would disconnect every 5 minutes or so. Running the troubleshooter just keeps returning the same thing; Default gateway not available. It also does this annoying thing where it'll disconnect and reconnect over and over again, so quickly that the network sharing center can't even register it's happening. I've tried resetting the WINSOCK, IPv4 TCP/IP, and IPv6 TCP/IP stacks, I've tried a clean boot to see if it was a startup program affecting my connections, and I've changed my power settings so they don't turn off my adapter. I even tired booting my computer in safe mode, which didn't work.

I own a ASUS RT-N66U and I have consistent buffering issues (pretty major one at that) and this has gotten worst over time. I can't stream a single 30 minute video without the connection buffering 3-4 times and I'm talking about 30-60 seconds a pop. It's rather annoying. I am also running the latest firmware with my router.
I have one PC in which my router is connected too. I also have the following devices on my network.

iPad
iPhone x3
IPod
I been having wifi problems since i bought this laptop and that's a month ago. What happens is when i connect to my wifi it keeps dropping out if i change possition. Or sometimes works perfectly for few seconds and second time i go the the same spot it works pretty bad...
When I used it at my gf house wifi was stable. I have the same amount of bars (wifi signal) as at home .
What happens is i have like 3 bars then it will pop to 5 bars and wifi will stop working..
When i ping my router i see request time out after 4-5 the wifi just drops out and i need to click reconnect...
It's annoying because of skype calls drops when you have those timeouts more then 2 or 3.
I purchased a new ASUS laptop a couple of days ago and have been trying to use the hotel wifi where I am staying to do the various updates and installs that new computers require. Unfortunately, while I can connect to my tethered cell phone, I cannot connect to the hotel.
I have another computer on hand that has no difficulties connecting to the hotel wifi, so I know the problem is in the new computer somewhere.
Network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11ac

-Attempted to reinstall drivers (uninstalling first) - Drivers are up to date and identical to the ones on manufacturer's site.
How can I go about improving my wifi signal through walls? My router is located in my living room beside my computer. When I'm upstairs my wifi signal diminishes. This is frustrating and I was wondering how I could go about boosting the signal strength when upstairs. By the way, I don't have a cheap router. The ASUS RT-N66U is my router of choice.

I don't have any wireless hardware on my PC. This was installed on 5/15 and I believe it came with the last the 8 auto updates (18 of them I think) because the dates match. It wont update through device manager, it wont uninstall.

An 3GB ISO which I copy from my HDD to an USB3.0 USB-stick gets a max speed of 25 mb per second. I have already tried everything I could think of, including the following:

The only thing I can think of is maybe mailing ASUS if they can supply a new BIOS revision or mailing Intel if they can supply some new chipset drivers...
EDIT1: A few months back, when the laptop was still running Windows 7, the read/write speeds were "normal", meaning that they were what you would expect from USB 3.0.
I have an Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe. It replaces a motherboard that failed. I have moved the Win 7 image over to the new board using a "restore to other hardware" feature in a backup program. It did not work properly. I am not able to get some drivers to install. For various (and sufficient) reasons I really really don't want to do a clean install. When I first booted, it would not even boot until I used Win PE to repair the boot. Various squirrely things are still wrong. Like not being able to see more than one hard drive. Occasional crashes for no obvious reason.
For an SATA controller when I run update driver or running the Intel INF setup program provided by Asus I get a message:
7 series/C216 SATA AHCI controller 1E02 Also This operation requires an interactive windows station.
I have just run the Intel update program and it says it can't identify a device an I need to contact the board manufacturer.
An alternative I am considering is to install a Win 8 update over the Win 7 telling Win 8 to retain my programs, settings, and data. But I am not sure this will get me where I want to go. My major question about that is will the Win 8 installation be clever enough to use all of the driver files from Asus that I have downloaded (and I point it to) rather than installing something like the incorrect ones currently installed?
I have recently built a new computer and installed Windows 8. All was running fine (including USB devices such as iPhone, flash drive etc), however since upgrading to Windows 8.1, none of my USB devices are showing up at all. Oddly, the mouse and keyboard still work.
When I go into the BIOS, all my devices (iPhone, Flash drive, keyboard and mouse etc) all show up in there, so I'm guessing it's a driver/Windows 8.1 issue that I'm missing?

I have an Asus x202e with I3, Windows 8 64 Bits. The defect is that the battery does not detect. Here's what I did: I disconnected the battery, I pressed the power button 30 seconds and not fixed. I reset BIOS F2, F9 and F10 and again not repaired. I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI method battery and nothing. Do you think that a BIOS update will fix the fault? Mention that no longer turn on the battery.

There is an audible constant disk trashing, although the HDD LED doesn't blink & the Performance monitor in the task manager also doesn't indicate any excessive disk access (literally 0% when nothing is going on). What could cause this? Besides the annoying sound, I'm worried about the disk wearing out.

Is there a way that I can change some settings to use Windows Media Player? When I open "Autoplay" Windows Media Player is not an option to play it on and there isn't anything else on my laptop that can play it. I tried a few different free DVD players, but none were able to play them for some reason.
How I can get Windows Media Player to play DVDs or suggest a free software that I can download that will play DVDs?
My roommate has a custom desktop PC, which runs Windows 8 x64.
It can't connect to the internet, or the local network. Windows says limited connection, but ping the router IP yields only lost packages. Solving the error with the automatic error solver, displays problems with the DNS.
The roommate says the connection has worked for a limited time, for about a 1/2 hour, but fell out from time to time.
He has tried to connect to our wireless router, a wireless n d-link dir615. It is set to WPA/WPA2 with AES cipher and PSK.The router runs the newest firmware available, which gives no issues for any other device in the house. (Including Iphones, android phones, old and new N-capable, and N-incapable laptops and desktops).
His PC has an almost unused Asus PCE N15 wireless adapter installed.He says it worked on a different network (He just moved in).
I have tried to give him a static IP and dns, both in windows, and get the router to assign one to him.
I have tried to give him an alternative DNS, e.g. OpenDNS.
I have tried to update his drivers, both the ones provided from Asus, but also one from realtek, since the NIC has a realtek chip on it.
I have an Asus P5QL VM DO montherboard in my homemade PC. This is an older system that I use for testing, so I put my Windows 8 install on it. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to connect two windows 8 laptops (dell and asus) to my home network (and internet). At the same time I have connected 2 xp laptops and 3 kindles with no problems. My security consists of using mac addresses only and all other security is turned off.
The offending laptops will also only show the 5gz and not the 2.4gz in available networks (one laptop is brand new and the other is about 1.5 years old). I have also disabled all security on one of the laptops to see if that was the problem (it was not). When trying to connect I have two basic reactions. The first is that its taking too long (cannot connect) and the other is that there is limited connectivity. In addition to that I am sometimes told that the ip address is not right (malformed, I think).
I got the mac addresses, of the offending laptops, by the standard cmd/ipconfig /all path and choose the wireless wi ip but have also tried the other wireless as well with no better results (just making sure)
I also have an edimax extender plugged in and it works. The laptops also show fewer network connections than my asus 1000ha w/d-link dongle. My own laptop, incidentally, is clicked into the 5gz network connection directly from the router (edimax kinda redundant <g>)
I posted this in windows 8 topics as I think this is probably a windows 8 problem given the ability to connect other machines with no problem.
The router is a netgear wndr3400 and is working just fine for all but the windows 8 machine.

I have an ASUS S400CA running Windows 8.1 (64 bit) and I am having a major issue. When I click Fn + F5/F6 to increase or decrease the brightness, nothing is happening. I was having problems getting good Graphics performance and the topic of Integrated vs discrete GPU came up, the options in the BIOS were set to use iGPU, since then I do not get the option on boot to enter the BIOS.
I have tried ASUS but they want me to send the unit in for repair.

I have an Asus CM6730 PC, bought in October, which had Windows 8 installed on it.
Everything was fine, until I decided to install the upgrade to Windows 8.1.
After a week or so, my mouse started to freeze up randomly and the only way to log out of the PC was by holding the power button down for several seconds. The next day, I was working on the PC, took a phone call and the machine went into standby mode - but wouldn't come back on when I press a key / moved mouse.
At that point I decided to restore the machine back to factory settings. This was done successfully so I was back to Windows 8. However - my problems have got worse - and now I am at the stage where the PC wont even boot up in Safe Mode - the screen just goes black.
I have read up on a few sites and I believe it could anything from driver related - to a faulty motherboard.
My Q200E Asus laptop came with 4g of memory. I would like to add another 4g's to bring it up to 8g's. I can find no instructions for doing this and am not entirely sure if it can be done. I have removed the back cover and see no memory sticks at all.

Ive been trying to find a driver but I couldnt find one that fits.
I know this port works cause Im able to boot windows throw a flash drive. It might be some driver missing.

Shouldn't my SSD be viewable somewhere in windows 8.1? It's not unallocated in Disk Utility, just not there, but I can see it in bios, although I can't set it as a boot option.
I'm confused because I thought my OS was on it, but I've been booting without it, so it may have never worked I've had this laptop for a little under 10 months.
Is there a way to setup network profiles or something so that when I bring my Surface Pro to work and connect to the wireless network there it will use the static ip address I have but when I disconnect and then connect to my home wifi it will go back to DHCP? On my MacBook Pro I can go into the network settings and change the location profile I have setup for networks but I don't see anything like this for Windows 8.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to confirm whether or not TRIM is actually working on my system and I can't find any definitive answers.
I'm on a new Asus G750JZ-DB73, which has dual SanDisk 128 GB SSDs in RAID0. I've heard that TRIM was incompatible with RAID, but I've also seen recent reports claiming that newer drives or motherboards or whatever did allow for TRIM with RAID drives. My knowledge if techese is limited, so I'm unsure what to believe.
Secondly, I've encrypted my SSD(s) using DiskCryptor without issue, and DiskCryptor claims full compatibility with both RAID and TRIM.
Here's where I get confused. Both CrystalDiskInfo and the "fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify" command in Command Prompt indicate that TRIM is enabled on my system. However, when I use TRIMcheck, I'm informed that TRIM doesn't appear to be working.
How can I conclusively verify if TRIM is working for me? And if it isn't, is there a way to activate it on my system?
EDIT: The SSD is a SanDisk SD5SE2256G1002E.
Asus Vivobook. It was running fine last night, but today it was a bit slow to respond. I eventually restarted it and it told me I have disk problems. Now I'm stuck on a black screen with the Asus logo that reads "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete."
It's been this way for multiple hours now. I'm going to leave it overnight and hope it repairs, but, if it doesn't, is there anyway to recover my files? I have some important stuff backed up online, but I haven't backed up in a bit over a month and I don't want to lose my files. Most forums tell me to reinstall Windows 8? Would that make me lose my files, though, and how can I do that if I can't get past this error page?
I have a Asus T100 tablet with 32GB SSD. I bought a 64GB SD card to augment the storage on the tablet. The problem I am having is that the SD card disconnects after a few minutes of no activity, I then have to take it out of the tablet and pout it back in. I then have the folder in my C Drive again. How do I prevent the SD card from disconnecting so that I can use it as additional storage?
