Happens after loading certain applications. Assuming theres a compata problem with a few of the things.
Ive updated all the drivers i could find. Also I uninstalled Deamon Tools
It does not happen instantly. The problem of BSOD occurs about 3/4 Mins after the application is opened
Seen as my Windows 8.1 installation may be completely useless, I am going to booting up from BIOS. I have been putting Windows 7 (32-bit) on my USB drive and when I boot it with my laptop it shows up and says "Reboot and select proper device or insert boot media and press key". I have some important exams coming up and I need to do some revision - plus this is my only laptop!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just bought an ASUS VivoBook S551LB laptop which comes with Windows 8. It has a 1TB harddrive and an extra 24GB SSD which is used for cache i guess. I wanted to reinstall Windows 8 because I didn't want to use the OEM version. Doing that took enough work. But after reinstalling i decided to check if the cache drive was still working. The Disk Management interface showed that the SSD was empty when previously it was completely full, so I guessed that the cache needed to be set up again.
I installed everything from my laptop's driver page and ran windows update until there were no more updates left. I looked in every ASUS and Intel application installed on the computer for options regarding the cache drive but there was nothing. The Condusiv ExpressCache program had no gui and the command line didn't work, and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology program wasn't showing most of the options which other people have.
I read lots of threads and everything seemed to point to the need for RAID. I tried the registry edits, BIOS options (and with safe boot), and looking for RAID drivers for my laptop. The BIOS only has the option for AHCI, and there are no RAID drivers that I can find for my laptop. I installed different versions of the IRST program, tried deleting the SSD volume, formatting it, etc. The fixes people talk about in other threads don't work for me because my programs, BIOS, etc seem to be missing options. Is RAID my problem?

Just rechecked BIOS settings for the 20th time and the only SATA configuration option is AHCI, and there are no extra options in the BIOS regarding either of the Intel IRSTs
The laptop is an ASUS Vivobook, running Windows 8. Once I woke up it from sleep, and the screen was blank. The backlight was on, but the screen was black. So I held the power button, and then started it up again.
When it got past the BIOS screen, it then said "Configuring Windows Updates". It then got stuck at ~50%, rebooted, and then gave a black screen again.
After a force shut-down, it resumed the "Configuring Windows Updates", this time from 60%, and booted normally. Is this normal, or should I ask for a replacement?

I have an ASUS VivoBook X200CA that is running a Windows 8.1 Upgrade. For about 5 months, this laptop has been running perfectly without any problems and I have managed to reset the computer many times due to certain errors and problems that have arisen from software and hardware compatibility.
Recently, I went to reset my laptop, it restarted and then it took me to the WinRE screen. I went into Troubleshooting > Advanced Options and I clicked on the Reset option. It then took me through each of the various warnings and making sure that my data was backed up and then, once I had clicked on the "Reset" button, it hung for a bit and then said "Reset has failed - Required Partition is Missing".
Today I installed Windows 8.1 on my PC and all the programs which I need. On of this is Speedfan in the version 4.49. On Win7 I used it to read out temperatures, but under Win 8.1. I got a bluescreen with driver_irql_not_less_or_equal.

I installed Windows 8.1 with all updates, the intel chipset driver, intel rst, intel management engine, via sound, atheros lan and nvidia graphics driver.
My computer randomly crashed while I was playing watch a stream and talking to a friend on mumble. The first blue screen gave me an error and had a text saying critical damage or something like that. After the computer restarted, it gave just a blank blue screen after the windows logo and would stay like so for several minutes before restarting again. I tried the shift + F8 method to try and get into safe mode, but it did not work. I also thought it may or may not have been my ram so I individually took out my ram and tested each single one. It still came to the same result. I also tried using my backup RAM, but had the same result. I am able to get into bios however, but after that I cannot even pass the logo screen.

I dont know if there are any known issues with n550jv model running windows 8.1, something else, i changed my hdd into a ssd samsung evo and changed the 2x4 ram into a 2x8 ram, but it was like 3 months ago and this started like a month ago with windows 8.1
This began suddenly about two weeks ago and has continued ever since. I get the usual Driver_State_Power_Failure message I have seen here.
When I attempt to upload a dump file, I get and invalid format error, and SF Diagnostics tool will not work for me either.
This computer worked wonderfully for 6th months and now it's a complete pain.

I am getting BSOD crashes whenever I play video games, like league of legends. They happen randomly and with seemingly no direct cause.
Windows has given me solutions to update my graphics card drivers, but whenever I "update" it gives me the same one I have and continuously says to update the driver.
including updating to the generic Intel Iris graphics drivers, but it still crashes.
I have a Asus pc, that has been crashing all the time due to unknown reasons. I have experienced that as soon as it hangs due to some process that is taking some time, it usually ends with a BSOD. I can let the computer alone and when I come back it has crashed, apparently for no reason, since I have not been using it for anything.
It crashes and gives the BSOD for many different reasons, I don't have the complete overview of all the reason, but above two listed reasons are the most significant. I have been using WhoCrashed, but does seem to get anywhere with the information provided by this. The PC is a new laptop.
I have followed the instruction and I'm uploading the zip file created by SF Diagnostic Tool.
I got a new ASUS G750jx laptop two weeks ago and have been having crashes since the first day.
So far I've tried various hardware diagnostic tools:
Memtest - ran it for 19 hours in multi-thread mode, did 11 passes and had no errors
Intel diagnostic tool - found no errors
Seatools - had no errors
Fumark, 3dmark - without troubles
Ran system with driver verified enabled, had crashes, but all of them related to nt kernel and don't really give much information ( i had updated to windows 8.1 at that time )
Couple of days ago reseted everything back to factory settings and had more luck getting references to specific drivers in minidumps, like sortport.sys, dxgkrnl.sys and nvlddmkm.sys. Obviously tried all newest drivers from the manufacturer website, but problems still persist.

So last Sunday I woke up grabbed my computer which I had simply closed the night before, nothing unusual and the screen was all black so I just figured it was a random problem and manually shut down. When I powered back on initially I got zero response, just a black screen, no HD activity no fan spinning eventually (anywhere from 5-15 minutes) in a sort of delayed boot action it began booting but it took forever to boot into Windows 8.1 which I upgraded to months ago.
So my question is two-fold, I don't think the BSOD issue is related to the incredibly slow/delayed start up, because this happens before the OS even begins loading if I'm not mistaken.
The first part of my issue are the random BSODs which also started happening for a while I was getting a warning about Intel Rapid Storage that I never bothered to read, and eventually it just went away after I did updates.
But this computer has just randomly shut off while I was using it, not crashed, just lost power.
I have an Asus laptop that has recently been migrated from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1. I had few issues with Windows 8, after I got used to how it functions. Now, it usually takes 8-10 boot tries to make it through all the freezing issues before I get a successful boot. It rarely stops at the same place in the boot cycle. I have tried to use the Windows troubleshooter, selecting the restart issues, but it did not find any issues needing to be resolved. I have updated the drivers using driverscan, and it did update 31 drivers, but did not effect any changes to the freezing/lockups. I have configured the PC to create a complete dump upon lockups, but have not restarted the PC after the change since it takes so many tries to get to a workable configuration. I am attaching the SFdebug file as an attachment to this post.

Here some specs
- Intel i7-3537U CPU
- Asus K56CB motherboard
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 740m Dedicated GPU
- Intel HD Graphics 4000 Integrated GPU
- 4gb 1600 Ram, single stick
- Windows 8.1 (had the same problem with win 8)
On every game i play i get random freezes, random crashes, random BSODs, some games do crash more frequently than others, I've tried older drivers, I've also formatted my pc but the problem is still there...I am not using any antivirus, windows defender is enough for me.
What gets on my nerves the most is that even on old games like quake live do crash and sometime it also gives me BSODs, the fps are constant and quite high but i randomly get freezes (about 0,5 - 1 second long)...
another example, im playing SMITE, i get 80-150 fps but the game crashes every 2-5 mins, this game rarely gives me BSODs, when im lucky the game wont crash for 20-30min, but its very rare. the gpu can reach 80-85C. With "crash" i mean black screen with a window saying "Game.exe has stopped working"
There are other odds things happening on this notebook, for example i cant access to the bios while booting, i can only access to it once i log to my windows account, another strange thing is when i left click any file sometime it takes 10-15 seconds to get the "open, open with, copy, paste, cut etc.. window opened". I've also noticed that sometime while gaming my disk usage get to 100% for an instant and when that happens i get a lag spike/freeze...
If no way to find the source of my problems ill build a desktop and than ill keep sending the notebook to warranty until they fix it . I've still got 1 year of warranty, I've also sent it once already but they only changed the hard disk, and it didn't solve the problem too ...
I'm using a asus k450j laptop, the laptop only have a few months so its almost new, it's rare happening bsod, this time happened while seeing a movie.

I can get in the Setup menu by pressing F2 on boot. I've turned off Fast Boot, did not work.

Trying to install Windows 8 on it but it get to about 30% then has an error that stops the install.
I recently bought a new ASUS K55N-DS81 laptop and its been working fine since I got it but today (April 21st, 2013) while browsing in firefox the computer froze completely, it was restarted by pressing the button and afterwards only the ASUS splash page would load with the circle loading animation, it would never progress anywhere just constantly spin. It turned on once and asked me to go back to a previous restore point, during which it froze, now it powered on once again and it updated some things while booting, I got the event log from the event viewer so what caused this behavior in the computer.

There is one thing though, I am to be able to disable the touchscreen because I have heard that there is a very large increase in battery life when you do that. I am just wondering because I went to control panel-hardware and printing devices-pen and touch but there is not option to disable the touchscreen. Is there any program that will do this for you because I heard you can increase the battery life by one hour by doing this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this morning my dad went to power off his ASUS K55N Notebook, and it didn't turn off correctly, the screen went black, but the system stayed powered on (had to perform a hard shutdown). He didn't perform any Windows Update(s) or install new drivers prior to this, he didn't change anything, and just now it did the same thing.
the Notebook was performing perfectly fine before today.

USB recovery image for a Vivotab Smart? I put mine on a flash drive, deleted it from my tablet's hard drive, and then that flash drive died! It will be a huge file to download but it would be a very important backup.

Since for some (stupid reason IMO) reason few of the Windows tablets have the GPS enabled the ME400C included so i am forced to use a Bluetooth GPS. But I have found few maps that are off line. I have tried about every app I can find and the most promising was HERE that has offline maps but it doesn't seem to support the GPS, at least I haven't been able to get it to see my BT GPS. Any good combination of the works with a Bluetooth GPS and has offline maps?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I access my UEFI during startup, the Boot Priority section is either empty or shows unrelated drives attached. I can select the drive from which to boot by clicking on the Boot Menu, then clicking on the drive desired.
I purchased a new Intel SSD and installed it as the "C" and "D" drives and was happily booting from that SSD until I added new HDDs to my system. I now have four HDDs plus the SSD. One of those HDDs still contains the original Root C bootup and Windows 8 system on it. I frequently now find the system, reason unknown, may choose to boot from the HDD rather than the SSD.
I cannot find the method for directing the UEFI bootup menu/priority steps... my goal is to have the computer boot from the SSD, which if it were to fail, then would secondarily boot from the HDD original Root C.
The computer arbitrarily changes the SSD from drive designation "C:" to "J:" and the HDD to "C:"... how to specify the SSD as the "C:" unless it fails or is removed? the computer system info:
My roommate has a custom desktop PC, which runs Windows 8 x64.
It can't connect to the internet, or the local network. Windows says limited connection, but ping the router IP yields only lost packages. Solving the error with the automatic error solver, displays problems with the DNS.
The roommate says the connection has worked for a limited time, for about a 1/2 hour, but fell out from time to time.
He has tried to connect to our wireless router, a wireless n d-link dir615. It is set to WPA/WPA2 with AES cipher and PSK.The router runs the newest firmware available, which gives no issues for any other device in the house. (Including Iphones, android phones, old and new N-capable, and N-incapable laptops and desktops).
His PC has an almost unused Asus PCE N15 wireless adapter installed.He says it worked on a different network (He just moved in).
I have tried to give him a static IP and dns, both in windows, and get the router to assign one to him.
I have tried to give him an alternative DNS, e.g. OpenDNS.
I have tried to update his drivers, both the ones provided from Asus, but also one from realtek, since the NIC has a realtek chip on it.
I have an Asus P5QL VM DO montherboard in my homemade PC. This is an older system that I use for testing, so I put my Windows 8 install on it. Unfortunately, the Asus driver installation CD will not run in Win 8, and I am missing one driver which I am unable to locate anywhere. It is for the PCI Simpe Communications Controller.

Asus laptop Windows 8 stuck at Resetting PC 2%, Only option is hard reset??
This laptop belongs to my Grandma (87 years old). **She did not make the recovery disk for the computer.**
I got to the Recovery options and it has been stuck at 2% for about 6 hours. Asus OEM X55C Windows 8
NOTE: Yesterday I told Grandma I would see what was wrong, but it would bug out, freeze, etc when trying to log into the administrator. The screen would go totally black and then freeze. So, the computer has shut down improperly several times.
However, it did repair the disk last night before I attempted this recovery.
I have an Asus laptop with Windows 8. I got it last August and until last week I haven't had any problems with it. Last week, my sound stopped working. It shows that the sound is up all the way on speakers and system sounds, but I am only able to get sound when I plug my headphones into the headphone jack.
