i have a problem with my windows 8 . all my apps on my start screen cant open.. Its say that This apps can't open check window store for more information and gt a little X at the top right of the all apps..

Every time I click on the Store tile it doesn't get past the green introductory screen before just disappearing (crashing).. Have restarted several times and used the link-through on the Windows 8.1 site. Also, I have since discovered that all apps won't open either (such as news and sports).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed win 8 about 3 months ago. At the first month everything was working great and i was satisfied . But somehow, the apps on the start screen stopped working . I mean, I click them and they wont open . And ONLY when I hit the store app , there's that startup screen of the store (you know , that animation when u enter the app) and then crash).

Maybe it's just me that this annoys but i hope there is a setting that can be changed to fix it. In Windows 8/8.1 if you try to open an app that is already open it does nothing.
Example:
1. Click start >> Type MSTSC >> Press Enter and connect to a remote computer/server.
2. Do the same again (not on the remote computer/server) >> you will notice after hitting Enter that it doesn't open the Remote Desktop dialogue.
It will either go back to the desktop or open the original remote connection. It is the same with any application (Excel, Word...)
It didn't work that way in 7, it would open a new instance of that application is there any way to change this?
I'm trying to keep the windows 8 start screen open on one screen and have the other open to the desktop, but any time I click an app on the desktop the 2nd screen with the Windows 8 start screen minimizes. Is there any way to change this behavior?

However, I found that firefox only opened in 'desktop' and I couldn't work out how to open it as an app, like I did with internet explorer. I uninstalled firefox and repinned explorer to start screen and toolbar and reset it as default only to find it too wouldn't open on start screen now, coming up with the message shown by the image. . I know it's not a problem with the internet because if I wrench it onto the desktop it works perfectly. Why won't the internet work on the startscreen? How can I fix it?

Normally, she clicks on the "Mail" icon to get to her email, but now when she clicks on the icon it doesn't go to her email and instead it goes straight to her desktop. I tried clicking another icon; the "weather" one, and it too goes to the desktop. She told me she downloaded a couple games from iWin a few days ago and I noticed a new toolbar in her browser so I tried disabling that, but no change. I've checked what the default browser is, Internet Explorer (what she normally uses). I also tried making Chrome the default browser but still no change.

We have lots of servers running Server 2012 and when in a Remote Desktop Window its difficult to try and move the cursor in the 1 pixel corner that brings up the Start Charm...
And Pressing the "Windows" key doesn't get translated so no Win+C ...
So I we could create an icon on the desktop to bring up metro or Charms that would be great!

From the start screen I can only open desktop and Microsoft software. When I click on other app tiles the screen shows the app logo as if it is opening but it doesn't open and goes back to the start screen.

The apps almost start, show the program name on the screen them close.. The problem is that is happening on both computers....
why Microsoft pushed these Store Apps out and then screwed them up? I have some installed which work fine, but when trying to install others - they won't open. are being offered by Microsoft but there seems to be no solid explanation.This along with the real mess up on Update 1 for many users make me wonder who is in control of Windows.

The screen on my laptop (Sony Flip 15A, intel4400/geforce735) seems to increase and decrease in brightness between screens. It's rather annoying not just because of the change, but also because it takes several seconds to occur and it occurs in discrete steps. I'm running the latest drivers from both intel and nvidia. I've tried turning off adaptive brightness and disabling the sensor service, and all effects (fade in, UAC, etc) have been turned off. A video of the condition is shown below:

It even happen when no programs are opening/closing - for example, if I view a dark background web page and then a lighter background, the brightness shifts. I can't imagine how awful this will be in photoshop.
About three days ago, all new style apps stopped working. I click on the tile, get a deep blue screen, and nothing else. On the left side of the screen, I can see the app as if it is working (just the name of the app, not content), so I can close the window and get back to desktop. The same applies to the STORE app. The only tiles that work, are the links to desktop applications, which open correctly on the desktop. The fault also affects all windows system apps. For example if I search on the start screen for "windows update", I can access "Windows update" as it just opens a window on the desktop, but if I click on "Windows update settings" nothing happens. The same is true with all windows system apps that open in the new start screen system.
I've uninstalled two Microsoft updates that were installed over the past three days, no change. I uninstalled AVAST, no change, so I reinstalled it! I tried restoring the system, but found that I had only one restore, and that was corrupted. Very strange. Without access to many windows system apps, the computer is really limited. The desktop seems to be working OK. I can't refresh the PC, as firstly it is a system app that runs from the start screen, and secondly because I upgraded from win 8 to 8.1 online, this can't be done anyway, as I don't have a disc. I'm really trying to avoid reinstalling windows 8!
(Pavilion dv6, i7 processor, 6GB ram, originally win7, then I upgraded to win 8 and now 8.1. I've been running 8.1 for some months without problems, just occasionally on start-up from sleep, I get "error in non-cached memory" BSOD, and the system restarts.)

When I was on Windows 8 I could install an app from the store and it would automatically put a tile for it on the start screen. After upgrading to 8.1 it stopped doing that. Now after I install an app I have to search for it and right click and tell it to pin to the start. Is there any way to have a tile automatically put on the start screen after install with 8.1?

This way I can't rearrange any apps, can't add any of them to start screen to, nothing.. I can only open them. View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a Windows issue or just an issue with my software but I was using Corel Paint shop pro x6 and I'm not sure what I did but after opening files or using the save to option several times, all of a sudden the window started opening full screen and there doesn't seem to be any way to minimize it.
I tried to see if I could at least drag it some place but it won't move. I tried going to every side and corner to see if I could resize it that way but nothing happens. This is the only program that opens my folders in full screen so perhaps it has nothing to do with Windows but how I can get my folders to open in a small screen where you can move them over or out of the way of something you might be looking at.
I went into This Computer and went to my C: drive to attempt to clean things up and make my system run faster by compressing files to save space. Unfortunately, I clicked some of the wrong stuff and hid data that I'm pretty sure the computer thinks is important, and now my Metro tiles are missing.

All apps, including the Windows Store fail to launch when clicked. They display a splash screen but no loading symbol, the splash screen hangs for about a minute and then the whole app shuts off again. This started with the calculator from what I can see, but now it seems to affect all of them. I've tried multiple theories from several forums and sites but nothing has made a difference.
If possible I don't want to have to refresh or reinstall Windows 8 as I have a fair amount of software I've installed and don't want to have to go through installation all over again.
I want to backup my windows 8.1 start screen app (only) with user configuration of those app.I want to do this,so that I can restore this app on my another computer running on windows 8.1. How to do this.
