View 1 Replies View RelatedInstead of auto arrange putting all of my icons on my desktop on the left, i want it to arrange them on the right. Is there a registry key that controls how auto-arrange works so that i can change it to arrange all of the icons on the right? how would i go about doing this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wonder if anybody can help me. I am running windows 7 with a 2 screen set up. My problem is if I leave my computer and it goes to 'sleep', very often the desk top icons rearrange themselves and the display goes to a duplicate (ie both screens displaying the same thing). I can reset it by gouing to control panel/adjust screen resoution, and clicking 'detect'. It also does this sometimes when I shut down the machine and re-start.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just loaded Windows 7, now I can NO LONGER arrange my photos within a folder, arrange my folders within "Pictures" etc. Always could do this before, what happened? Also, I can find NO way of allowing me to put say a photo anywhere I wish, except on my desktop-which still works fine. If I try to take a photo out of sequence it just does not let me move it to another place, UNLESS I am putting it into a folder!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new Desktop with Windows 7. After I start the computer and leave it running for a while, (10 to 15min), it will automatically revert to the password screen. Also it won't go to screen saver. I have the screensaver set to not require password after waking. Also I have my power settings set to high performance. Also i have my Nic card configured so that it isn't allowed to be turned off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new Windows 7 laptop. I want to have the dual boot with XP. I'm using the following link to set dual boot: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP. I have XP CD & I'm now trying to install XP first, to be able to use Method-1 (When XP is Installed First)
But once it reaches installing XP, I get the Blue Screen:
STOP 0000007B
0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000
I never installed or used Win-7. I scanned with KIS2011 & it reported no infections. [URL]. There is only 1 HDD with C: having factory default Windows 7 installed. There are no other partitions.
The other day I was browsing a website and Norton Internet Security pops up saying that a Trojan has been blocked (I don't have a screenshot of it, but that's pretty much all it said). So I exited the website and told Norton to do a full system scan later that night and fell asleep. When I woke up, all it found were some tracking cookies, which it deleted. However, I now had a problem on my computer: all files in every folder will auto arrange themselves every time the folder is opened or refreshed. The same happens on the desktop. Auto arrange is not checked.
Inside folders, the default setting is always "View > Details" and "Sort by > Name > Ascending." The icons on the desktop are still medium, but they are arranged in an odd order, it seems to be alphabetical but in an odd way. I had all my desktop icons arranged in a specific way, so now it's hard to try and find programs that I need. It's also extremely difficult to find any files because of this setup too. To clarify, here's an example of what happens: I arrange the icons the way I want (here being by "Date Modified"), but... If the folder is refreshed or reopened, computer is restarted, etc, then the folder resets to this default.

3 days ago, I started getting these 'flickering' pop ups at the top left hand corner of my screen. Some are whole ads and others are just bits and pieces like a 'puzzle'. They are non-stop and especially when I am on my AOL 'Welcome/home page'. I can hardly read what is displayed on my left screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIve been running Win 7 Ultimate 64 for over a year with no problems. For Christmas I got a new HD because my old ones were full. I copied my files from my two old hard drives to the new one and then tried to do a clean install. After the installation when windows boots for the first time it works, but the picture has about two inches of black space all around and the resolution is at like 800x600. Im pretty sure the only thing i need to do to fix that is install and update my graphics drivers. The problem is after I start installing updates I have to restart windows. When it boots up for the second time all the black space is gone and the picture looks right but it always stops right after the black windows loading screen on the default background with no icons, only my curser. Ive tried to install windows again but the same thing happens. Ive tried safe mode and last known good config. Startup repair finds no problems at all. And when i restore with a system image the problem comes back as soon as I update something then restart.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I boot up, the screen settings have changed to a "two monitors" setting. At this setting, the mouse pointer will run off the screen to the right.I have to go to "Screen Resolution" and click "Detect", it finds only one monitor, click OK, and it works fine 'til next boot up.

I can't get into Windows. Everytime I try, I will be presented with the blue screen of death. I tried booting in safe mode but in vain. I will get stucked at Classpnp.sys[URL]. I am using Windows 7 64 bit, Core i7, 8GB Ram, 2GB Graphics
I've been intermittently getting blue screens with the stop error 0x00000124, which the internet told me is either a driver or hardware issue. I've run memtest for 5 passes on both sticks of RAM and there were no errors. I do overclock my CPU, but my system is water cooled and the temp is always stable. In addition when not overclocked I still will get a blue screen sometimes. Here are my specs.

They run Windows 7 at my school and every time I log on to a new machine I am bombarded with the Internet Explorer 8 initial setup screen questions about default search, and accelerators, and additional notifications about new versions of Java and Flash, etc. how to tell them to set up the machines so that IE comes already set up and Java and Flash and doesn't pop up messages about new versions that we can't install anyway because we are not administrators?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running retail 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on a custom-built computer I made in summer of '09, the same install the whole time. Lately (last couple of weeks) I've been getting a BSOD after running a while, usually while gaming but sometimes when I've only been playing music. I tried finding out the cause myself, to no avail; a BSOD interpreter told me that only ntoskrnl.exe and tcpip.sys were on the stack, but I'm not familiar enough with Windows's workings to really know what that means. Some more googling found a likely culprit, an outdated version of Asus's ACPI driver, but I was unable to find an updated version to download
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7. I am the only user of this computer, and have disabled the need to enter a password. But I want to get rid of the blue background with my picture, which needs to be clicked on to resume, every time my screen goes black (which happens if I don't use the computer for a few minutes, don't know what does this). Why should I have this blue screen and need to click my picture if I am the only possible user? I did delete an account with some funny name that I did not create, but I can not delete the administrator and guest accounts. When I have to click my picture, it is the only picture.
