Recently I built a computer but shortly after I began using it the screen would go black and stop responding to anything, I couldn't even power it down from the on/off button, I had to shut it down from the switch on the battery and sometimes that fail before working.
View 5 RepliesI had wondows 7 ultimate running on my internet machine for 2 weeks. Almosi every day 3 or 4 times a day i would get a completely blank dislplay and then the machine would shut down. There were no critical errors that i could find.So i installed Ubuntu 12.04 on the same machine with no changes at all. Ubuntu 12.04 is very resource intensive. After 48 hours of running not one crash , blank screen, or any other major problem.I had the same windows 7 problem on my self built and the dell gx280 i had it installed on. Same problem completely different machines.I do not think i will be going back to windows , as the experience stated above explains windows 7 is still in need of a lot of development work. When i ran win95 second edition was the last time i have experiences with windows like i have had with windows 7.

When i'm using my system, usually while using Ableton Live 8 (but not at all limited to), my mouse and keyboard stop responding. The system is still working, if for instance a song is playing then it will continue to do so, etc. I just can't move my mouse and can't do anything with my keyboard. Restarting fixes the issue. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. Today, a new symptom: while doing normal browsing my mouse freezes for just about a second. Then I hear the same sound you hear when you connect a new device into any usb port. And then the mouse works again.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi bought arma II CO to play this famous mod called dayz. My first day of playing was fine but after the first day, my pc started to stop responding and shut down itself. I had to do a hard reboot. These happend after playing half an hour or so.After some time passed, computer started to give me bsods with often about nvlddmkm.sys or sometimes -rarely- PFN_LIST_CORRUPTED. After these bsods, i started to crash after 10 secs of play. have tried couple of things to solve these bsods such as reinstalling nvidia driver, removing some bad drivers but for no good. The problem happens randomly (I haven't managed to nail down a pattern when it happens or replicate it). Let's say it happens when running full-screen applications (games n stuff)Without warning everything that's connected through a USB stops working. Mouse and Keyboard are in usb 3 slots (and are compatible) and headset in usb2 port. The devices are powered still normally and the computer still functions (for example, game of LoL still continues normally, I can see what other players do or type etc etc, but the usb devices are unresponsive - though powered)

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has suddenly slowed down considerably. I've run eset online scanner and scanned with my antivirus Trend Micro Titanium and found nothing at all. I've tried running Ccleaner and using the registry cleaner. I've also tried defragmenting my hdd but nothing is working. Overall its is generally slow but alot of the time Windows explorer freezes and stops responding and needs restarting.I have an asus K55VD notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, quad core i7 processor, 8gb ram, 2gb dedicated graphics and over 200gb of free space on my hdd. If it makes any difference I have windows 8 installed on a separate partition although problems didn't start when I installed it.

Processor and temps are all excellent. Hard drive has no bad sectors. All drivers have been updated. Problem usually (but not always) goes away after reboot. I've had some issues with video drivers lately
Recently I have been having this problem where my PS/2 keyboard and mouse both stop responding. The lights are still on, but neither work. Sometimes it happens just to my mouse, and not the keyboard, but usually both. When it happens, they are not responding for anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes (but by that point I restart the computer). If it happens just to the mouse, putting the computer to sleep using the keyboard and wakening it again fixes the problem.
I have tried to update the drivers in device manager by letting windows search for them online, but it says they are up-to-date. I also checked all the connections inside the computer, unplugging and re-plugging each one as well as air-dusting.
EDIT: If I can't find a fix, I think I will just purchase a USB mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather try fix the problem first.
When I play SWTOR and WOW it randomly crashes to desktop. My browsers also stop responding and crashes (usually with java or flashplayer) I have updated all java`s and flashplayers btw.I monitored my pc using afterburner (did no clocking whats so ever, was at default) and all temparatures where normal - at 30C on idle and around 50-60C while gaming.

A colleague of mine using the 64bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise has been having this problem for the past day or so. No matter what program he's using, as soon as he clicks print, the program stops responding. This even happens if you try to print a test page - Windows Explorer stops responding. It's not printer specific, since this happens before you have the option to select a printer (and he has several, one local printer and a few network printers). I've tried running the troubleshooting tool, but all that does is restart the print spooler, which doesn't stop the problem.
View 7 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while, my tablet PC/laptop will either just shut off completely, or will crash with a Stop 0x124 error. It mostly seems to happen when I have Firefox and IE open (I take classes online that require IE, otherwise I would never use it!), and I am using my mouse wheel to scroll a webpage up or down. It doesn't matter if I am scrolling in IE or in FF.
I checked online and from what I can see, this 124 error is pointing to either RAM or the BIOS, but can't determine which. I have 4gb RAM in this machine, and I have swapped it out already, as well as the hard drive. The only difference is that the machine came with Vista on it (from HP), and I put Win7 on it. HP did have drivers for this laptop on Win7, and I have installed all of those with no problems.
I replaced the hard drive about 6 months ago because the machine wouldn't boot up, and when I booted off the Win7 CD and ran chkdsk /r, it found a TON of bad clusters at the beginning of the drive, where I'm guessing the boot sector and boot files/partition would be. So I cloned the drive to the replacement, then ran a "repair" installation on Win7 to make sure none of the files were corrupted. Then I did all of the Windows Updates that I was prompted to install.
Has anyone been able to resolve a Stop 0x124 error, and if so, how?
It seems I've been having random BSOD Stop errors ever since I put my new PC together about a month ago. I'm not sure what's causing it, and it's happened when I've been doing different things, but it almost seems to happen more frequently when I'm listening to Pandora Radio on my web browser (chrome).Switched my BIOS from AHCI to IDE (read on google this fixed some issues). Did not fix the issue.Read the windows website and attempted to get a hotfix for SATA hard drives (something about them not waking up in 10 seconds). Something similar has happened before (about half a year ago) but it got fixed when I did a system repair through command promt, until these few days...the loop came back again, sometimes it would boot like normal, at times it would get stuck or it'll go into a "checking file system" screen. It first started when I was browsing the web like usual, the comp suddenly froze and popped out a blue screen, it was too quick for me to capture it tho...In the past few days its gotten the BSOD a few times ive managed to take down a couple of the STOP codes 0x0000003D and 0x0000003B, im sure Ive gotten other ones too but i only remembered these 2.I've tried system repair & restore and command prompt but none worked...i have no idea whats wrong (hardware or software?) so im hoping someone can help me find a permanent fix if possible?

I've been having random BSOD crashes for the past week. Also, multiple attempts to fix the BSOD problem by using System Restore has resulted in a BSOD crash.Every BSOD has displayed "STOP: 0x000000F4" To my knowledge, no new hardware has been installed on my computer in several months.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was first using Windows 7 build ~7200, till it ran out of support and I did a fresh install with Windows 7 RTM OEM 64Bit Ultimate. Running it I started expiriencing the bug.
Videos stop randomly for ~1-2mins and get of sync in WMP; Firefox turns to "no reponse" and gets white after I clicked on a link. Clicking on another programm (the mouse is not freezing) makes the program stop to "no response". This also happens to the taskmanager, I've always opened on my second monitor.
After the freeze for ~1-2mins, everything continues normally. I thought something could be buggy with my Installtion and installed another Windows 7 Professional RTM 64Bit. Which I'm running now.
The some sort of this bug already happend without any drivers (running the pure OS), but I'm still not completely sure about it, if it's the same bug. I was sure it would go away with the fresh install and didn't, care I'm sorry.
Another issue:
Running WarCraft3 in windowed mode never took me down to 20fps, which is unplayable, it was ok as I had my new 24'' Monitor and tried to run it in window mode full screen on it to get down to 20-25fps on high grafics, but now it's 15-20fps really laggy on my laptopmonitor, which makes me think about my freeze bug.
Google couldn't help me, installing newest drivers and clean windows didn't help me.
I didn't install new software until that bug appeard, so I guess it's a new driver (because I couldn't find the old ones) or Windows 7 new onboard driver problem.
Memtest86+ ran for more than 8h this night, negative.
I have an other idea: Could it be the harddrive which locks up? Because everything continues normally (like the mouse) taskmanager still shows which process is taking most CPU capacity, but as soon as I perform an action, it locks up/freezes.
The harddrive is as old as the computer, which means about 3 years. What do you think? Could it be the harddrive? Should I try replacing it?
My iTunes always crashes at the most random times. Usually every 30 minutes to 1 hour it just says iTunes has stopped working...

Does not happen often, happened about 3 times a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was gone. Just today it happened two times in a row. Not load related since it happens while browsing or not really doing anything. Attached sysdata and two minidumps (just in case) from these last two crashes.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEverything shows up fine until the welcome screen after that it normally used to fade to the desktop but now it goes blank. The screen in Black with only the mouse pointer. Its not hung, i can move the mouse pointer. Then after a minute or so it advances to the desktop. Everything on the desktop loads up in less than 5s. The PC runs fine, it is really fast as there are only a few programs, but only boots slow. My total boot time is about 3-5 min. I think it should be like in a minute or so.I have not tweaked much with the system but have installed a few programs like MS office, Nero, Acrobat and Photoshop. These are the only heavy programs in the PC right now. The only games on the PC are AC1 and AC2. I have uninstalled my graphic driver and reinstalled. I already minimized the programs in the msconfig>startup to the minimum. I have run ccleaner, spybot s&d, Antimalware and i also have a trial copy of Kaspersky AV (upgrading later to 1-year license). there are no peripherals attached during boot except the USB keyboard and mouse. A printer is attached too but is most of the time turned off.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using my laptop for a while now and had a friend install Windows 7 onto it (because i'm quite rubbish with this sort of thing) and everything has been going great until a few weeks ago.
I loaded it up one day and everything is going fine until it reaches the part where it's supposed to load the log on screen. Instead of a log on screen all i am getting is a black screen with the cursor. Now i can't give you specs to my computer or anything of the like because i simply don't have access to it but i can give as much aid as possible to help find the problem.
One of the things that happens is that when the black screen & cursor appears if i move the mouse or push any buttons the screen goes VERY dim as if i've put it into a lower power mode or i've taken out the power cable. If i push the power button to turn it off even if it's just a tap on the button the screen will go off immediatly even if the laptop is still running.
One of the green lights that i believe is showing if the hard drive is busy or not flashes during the process but after a minute or so of the black screen it'll stop flashing altogether.
I've tried all three safe modes with all the same results, F8 to system repair has given me no love with startup repair finding NOTHING wrong, memory check running through the process only for the same thing to happen and system restore has no restore points to go to.
I've looked for answers in several places and some say i have to use sticky keys to get the screen to come on but the problem is that as of last nights use i turned sticky keys off for a few minutes so i could play a game and forgot to turn them back on afterwards. I've taken a look around the net and can't find a fix to my problem. Reinstall simply is not an option under my current circumstances so i really need a favourable reply.
well yeah used it on my windows vista it did make it faster and never had a problem(no I never bought it :P). then I upgrade to windows 7 and I ran it cleaned the error's and just screwed it up. I need to restore my registry, start up fix doesn't work and I don't have system restore on don't have a backup so I go to CMD in start up fix enter notepad look for files to restore stuff can't really find anything.
I can restore reg files by notepad I mean I tried a lot of stuff so is there any CMD command to restore registry or a reg file I can use to restore registry? tried sfc /scanow (i don't think it restore's registry only file's that are modded files that are not from Microsoft).
