Quite frequently windows or a program will stop responding, locking up my computer. I was running a /verifyonly, and at 30% it stopped. A few minutes later the following error presented itself.

View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently I have been having this problem where my PS/2 keyboard and mouse both stop responding. The lights are still on, but neither work. Sometimes it happens just to my mouse, and not the keyboard, but usually both. When it happens, they are not responding for anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes (but by that point I restart the computer). If it happens just to the mouse, putting the computer to sleep using the keyboard and wakening it again fixes the problem.
I have tried to update the drivers in device manager by letting windows search for them online, but it says they are up-to-date. I also checked all the connections inside the computer, unplugging and re-plugging each one as well as air-dusting.
EDIT: If I can't find a fix, I think I will just purchase a USB mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather try fix the problem first.
I have recurring "not responding" programs in Win 7. The affected programs are MS Office, Cad programs, Photoshop, etc. I tested my ram and all is good. Processor and temps are all excellent. Hard drive has no bad sectors. All drivers have been updated. Problem usually (but not always) goes away after reboot. Velocity Micro running Win 7 64, 8 GB ram, Intel core i7 870, nvidia gx 275.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA colleague of mine using the 64bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise has been having this problem for the past day or so. No matter what program he's using, as soon as he clicks print, the program stops responding. This even happens if you try to print a test page - Windows Explorer stops responding. It's not printer specific, since this happens before you have the option to select a printer (and he has several, one local printer and a few network printers). I've tried running the troubleshooting tool, but all that does is restart the print spooler, which doesn't stop the problem.

I originally ran windows xp professional until i upgraded to adobe cs5 and needed to switch to windows 7.now that i have windows 7 my programs stop working constantly. if i'm working in photoshop on a large photo the screen will go blank and a bubble will pop-up saying "driver stopped working but has started working again" and a lot of times photoshop, illustrator, and FL Studio will stop working and need to be shut down and started again. i've noticed sometimes when the computer is on overnight i'll wake up and it will be off. when i turn on the computer it will say that it didn't shut down properly. i was in the process of doing batch photo edits and it shut down on me right in the middle so i've got to figure out the problem. since i use this computer for freelance graphic design and photography. here are my specs.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPrograms randomly go "Not Responding" for anywhere from 2 seconds, to a minute. It mostly happens on games that I play including League of Legends, audio would stutter and/or be delayed at times, my mouse will still be move-able, but I can't click on anything in the game, everything just freezes. I can alt+tab during this to exit the game and do whatever I want, other programs will be fine in the meantime during this. I've had this problem for several months, looked on multiple sites for answers, couldn't find anything that helped. I system restored my PC twice, Scanned for virus's, used malwarebytes and norton security (just installed yesterday), can't seem to find a fix. I have no idea if it's a problem with windows 7 or if it's a hardware issue. I've read a bunch on it and everything says something different. Looking for someone to help me with my problem because nothing seems to work.

My laptop has suddenly slowed down considerably. I've run eset online scanner and scanned with my antivirus Trend Micro Titanium and found nothing at all. I've tried running Ccleaner and using the registry cleaner. I've also tried defragmenting my hdd but nothing is working. Overall its is generally slow but alot of the time Windows explorer freezes and stops responding and needs restarting.I have an asus K55VD notebook with Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, quad core i7 processor, 8gb ram, 2gb dedicated graphics and over 200gb of free space on my hdd. If it makes any difference I have windows 8 installed on a separate partition although problems didn't start when I installed it.

When i'm using my system, usually while using Ableton Live 8 (but not at all limited to), my mouse and keyboard stop responding. The system is still working, if for instance a song is playing then it will continue to do so, etc. I just can't move my mouse and can't do anything with my keyboard. Restarting fixes the issue. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. Today, a new symptom: while doing normal browsing my mouse freezes for just about a second. Then I hear the same sound you hear when you connect a new device into any usb port. And then the mouse works again.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi bought arma II CO to play this famous mod called dayz. My first day of playing was fine but after the first day, my pc started to stop responding and shut down itself. I had to do a hard reboot. These happend after playing half an hour or so.After some time passed, computer started to give me bsods with often about nvlddmkm.sys or sometimes -rarely- PFN_LIST_CORRUPTED. After these bsods, i started to crash after 10 secs of play. have tried couple of things to solve these bsods such as reinstalling nvidia driver, removing some bad drivers but for no good. The problem happens randomly (I haven't managed to nail down a pattern when it happens or replicate it). Let's say it happens when running full-screen applications (games n stuff)Without warning everything that's connected through a USB stops working. Mouse and Keyboard are in usb 3 slots (and are compatible) and headset in usb2 port. The devices are powered still normally and the computer still functions (for example, game of LoL still continues normally, I can see what other players do or type etc etc, but the usb devices are unresponsive - though powered)

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis error recently started occurring where the mouse will not allow me to close out of windows, or click inside of them. Generally this starts occurring when I start playing World of Warcraft but it's not limited to this only. It's happened when I wasn't playing, or when I am just chatting on Skype, or even not at the computer. It's not a virus, or anything malicious, as I'm pretty competent with that sort of thing, but I cannot figure this issue out.I've also checked the sleep and power options, both are fine.It just stops working for 5-60 seconds and I have to ctrl+alt+delete to fix the issue momentarily. My computer is a Windows7 X64-bit OS, Asus Notebook G60 Series. The mouse is a Razer DeathAdder 3500DPI.
EDIT: The touch pad also will not work during this "phase" of unresponsiveness from the mouse. When I say it will not work, I mean that it will not click as well, but it will move responsively, as the mouse will.
Since I'm running Windows 7 I thought I'd try to solve this on this forum, although the problem has plagued me all through vista as well but perhaps not nearly as much as it does now in 7.I have a Microsoft 4000 usb (wired) ergonomic "Natural" keyboard. I'll be on a forum typing up something (or in notepad, or anyplace I could possibly type) and all of a sudden the keyboard will stop responding to any key strokes. The only way to get it back to life is to logout and log back in, then the keyboard is working fine (unplugging it from the usb port works as well, although logging out and in is easier for me).When this happens, everything else on the computer is working perfectly fine, the mouse, display etc. It's just the keyboard that basically becomes totally inop. It doesn't matter what key I press they don't respond.
It's not a matter of an older keyboard that the wires might have broken or anything like that as this is a brand new keyboard. I've been using these MS 4000 keyboards for a few years now and have to replace them every year or less due to them wearing out from my fast and excessive typing but it doesn't matter, new or old, at some point, sometimes multiple times per day the keyboard stops responding on me.Any clues as to what might be causing this and more importantly how to prevent it from happening any further?
I have been having a rather annoying issue for a while now. This mostly happens on start up and once desktop loads up either my USB mouse freezes or my keyboard doesn't work or sometimes BOTH. My keyboard is a PS/2 Keyboard. It seems the only solution when both freeze at the same time is to either restart the computer or unplug them and plug them back in. This morning when I booted it up my mouse immediately was frozen and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it is working. This error is very random and sometimes doesn't happen immediately on start up but while browsing the Internet a decent amount of time after start up. Another important thing I forgot to mention is I get NO blue screen or no error message it just stops working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was first using Windows 7 build ~7200, till it ran out of support and I did a fresh install with Windows 7 RTM OEM 64Bit Ultimate. Running it I started expiriencing the bug.
Videos stop randomly for ~1-2mins and get of sync in WMP; Firefox turns to "no reponse" and gets white after I clicked on a link. Clicking on another programm (the mouse is not freezing) makes the program stop to "no response". This also happens to the taskmanager, I've always opened on my second monitor.
After the freeze for ~1-2mins, everything continues normally. I thought something could be buggy with my Installtion and installed another Windows 7 Professional RTM 64Bit. Which I'm running now.
The some sort of this bug already happend without any drivers (running the pure OS), but I'm still not completely sure about it, if it's the same bug. I was sure it would go away with the fresh install and didn't, care I'm sorry.
Another issue:
Running WarCraft3 in windowed mode never took me down to 20fps, which is unplayable, it was ok as I had my new 24'' Monitor and tried to run it in window mode full screen on it to get down to 20-25fps on high grafics, but now it's 15-20fps really laggy on my laptopmonitor, which makes me think about my freeze bug.
Google couldn't help me, installing newest drivers and clean windows didn't help me.
I didn't install new software until that bug appeard, so I guess it's a new driver (because I couldn't find the old ones) or Windows 7 new onboard driver problem.
Memtest86+ ran for more than 8h this night, negative.
I have an other idea: Could it be the harddrive which locks up? Because everything continues normally (like the mouse) taskmanager still shows which process is taking most CPU capacity, but as soon as I perform an action, it locks up/freezes.
The harddrive is as old as the computer, which means about 3 years. What do you think? Could it be the harddrive? Should I try replacing it?
As of lately my mouse and keyboard sometimes just stop working. It seems to happen more often while I'm playing games (but that's mostly what I do so not sure if that has anything to do with it ). Usually before it happens I'll hear the usb sound and the mouse will disconnect and reconnect and it'll work fine then just out of the blue it'll disconnect and that's that. I have to shutdown and restart. It only just started doing this a couple weeks ago. My mouse is a logitech UAE-96 (I think) and the keyboard is a microsoft ergonomic 4000, its an ASUS MoBo, I've checked keyboard drivers and they are up to date and I've also checked my usb drivers, also up to date.

But when I play the dvd's playback stops randomly and I need to re-start playback manually.VLC Player has no problem playing these files - only Media Center that is acting up? I ran chkdsk and after some time it finished repairing the errors. However, now my system gave me 4 warnings saying that none of my security features were working. I use AVG Internet Security 2012. When I click on the AVG Icons or try and repair by clicking on the warnings, nothing happens.I have read that I should reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate to solve the problem. Sadly I did not partition my hard drive went I built the PC, and of course I do not want to lose any programs, files, etc. So what are my best options?
1. Back up my hard drive and bring everything back over once Windows in reinstalled?
2. Buy an SSD drive for one of my extra bays and install Windows 7 Ult there? Is this even an option since I already have Windows 7 Ult on my PC?
3. Is it possible to partition the drive and move Windows to this section? Then reinstall Windows without affecting other programs and files?
I just started up my Laptop (Sony Vaio 2.6GHz | 4GB RAM | ATI Radeon | Windows 7 Home Premium) and none of the programs on my laptop are responding when I click on them to start them. Not even Windows Explorer opens. Nothing responds. I can open the windows start button, but that is about it. The PC is still under warranty, so it's quite new (4months). I also take great care of it, I do not load all sorts of crap on it. Only the essentials.
It all started yesterday, when my PC became really slow and I had to restart it, where it literally took 10 minutes too shut down (NO windows updates being installed...). I restarted it, ran a check disc for bad sectors, and it found none. Only a few bad clusters. I also ran - sfc /scannow command in cmd. libreoffice 3.5 crashes all the time and says "not responding".steam has crashed saying the same thing.Chrome and file explorer are fine though.I have been using a new SSD for a while now (OS installed on this) and have had no problems until 2 and half weeks later. Just installed spybot search and destroy recently also.Programs Not Responding - general-discussion - windows-7.And used the solution where I remove a RAM stick and set the BIOS to default settings. This worked for about 45 minutes (longer than usual) and then the same problems occurred again.Then tried uninstalling avira antivirus - no use.Un-installed spybot to see if that was it, but could not reverse changes it made (advised when un-installing) as it said their were no changes.
