I am having some problems with media center. I have ripped my dvd to my harddrive (eSata) and uses My Movies to see the dvd's inside Media Center. But when I play the dvd's playback stops randomly and I need to re-start playback manually.VLC Player has no problem playing these files - only Media Center that is acting up? AHCI is activated. Can't locate PhysX setting in Nvidia settings, so I guess it is not enabled for my GPU.
in Win 7 Ultimate I insert a DVD, and the only options for playback are Windows Media Player and Real Player - with Vista, I used to have an option to play the DVD in Windows Media Center, which is what I want. Is there a way to get this option back?
While playing a DVD in Windows 7 Media Center (in version 7100, 7203, and 7260) that has been copies to the hard drive (in Video_TS format with AnyDVDHD-v6.5.5 running in the background), and using the My Movies plugin (tried both v2.54 and the new v2.55), if I press STOP on my Media Center Remote, the DVD stops, but is more in a Paused state. Let me see If I can clarify what is going on.
1. DVD's in Video_TS format play fine, can pause, FF, Rew, etc without any issues.
2. If I press stop, the DVD does stop. Then I would normally hit the BACK button to go back to the movie list. However, when I hit the BACK button I go to a new blank screen (with the media center blue background). I then hit BACK again, and am takin to a screen with movie details. If I hit BACK a third time, I would then return to the movie list.
3. However, once back in the movie list, I can see the stopped DVD in the lower left corner of the screen.
4. I can't seem to stop the movie like in Vista Media Center (which would automatically take me back to the movie list.
5. Also, if I click on the movie in the lower left corner of the screen, it comes up and starts the movie from where I left off. With Vista Media Center, a stopped movie would actually start over from the beginning.
Has anyone seen this problem, and know of a way to make it work like Vista Media Center?
Ok I have multiple monitors & like to watch movies while I do other things at the same time. Now I LOVE Media Center, I think its fantastic. But it locks down the monitor & mouse that it opens up on, not allowing me to do other things on my other monitors.
I have just started getting a problem with media centre starting up randomly on it's own for months. I had it starting via a basic task in task scheduler in full screen in the morning. I have just done a clean install of windows 7 ultimate reset the basic task and it worked for 2 days now yesterday it is randomly starting on it's own strange I am not doing anything on the computer it just starts in full screen i deleted the basic task but it still doing it.
How can I make Windows Media Player stop updating media every freaking time I start it up? It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I've unchecked every option that seems to make it scan and update but it still does it.Basically I want to UNLINK the Windows Explorer Library from the WMP Library.
I'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.
I can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am having a very frustrating issue with Windows Media Player 12 and its plugin to Windows Media Center. Neither of these programs will play DVDs. What will happen generally is after a fresh boot, they will play the DVD for a few seconds and then stop. WMP simply reverts to the blue options screen and Media Center will display a message about files not being installed correctly. When I insert a DVD into the drive WMP/WMC will always recognize it, but whether or not it will play the disc is unpredictable at best.I have eliminated other possibilities, such as it being the sensitivity of the drive (tried a USB DVD drive) or the DVDs being too worn (tried a stand-alone DVD player). The only pattern I have noticed is that the DVDs that won't work as well tend to be a bit older in production age. This has happened to me several times now (I've owned this computer a year.) Previously I was able to use a system restore to back things up a few days and it seemed to work. I've tried that repeatedly this time but no luck.
I know everyone's first instinct is to say "CODECS!" but that's not the case. The DVDs play fine in other programs such as WMP Classic and SuperDVD, but I don't like either of these programs as Classic's quality is crummy and Super is annoyingly buggy and can't really handle Windows 7. I've installed the freeware Windows 64-bit codec pack. When I installed it it did give me a message about several files being "empty" or something.I've also tried another solution suggested on a Microsoft forum for turning off WMP/WMC from the control panel, restarting, then turning them back on. I only get halfway through this solution because on the restart, Windows tells me that the changes failed and reverts. (Tried this on my default account and on an Admin account created just for that purpose, as the post suggested.) Really have no idea what that problem is about. I'd try to repair/install through the Control Panel but WMP/WMC doesn't even show up on the programs list.
The only thing I'm thinking might be the culprit at this point is DirectX. For some reason when I installed Realplayer the DirectX installation failed, but it did not tell me why. I'm definitely nothing close to an expert on programs so someone else will have to rule that out as the cause. I also have PCTools Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic but I don't think they are the problem either.

I think the problem is related to my graphics drivers. I persistently have issues with atikmpag.sys and atikmdag.sys. It has happened from the start and I finally am fed up with it.It can happen during web browsing. Playing video in media center will do it. My wife tried watching a video on imdb.com and it crashed[CODE]I've tried reseating graphics and memory. I uninstalled the graphics driver and entire catalyst suite and just reinstalled the driver as I've heard that can be a probl know enough about computers to feel too comfortable and do damage, but I haven't tried anything crazy yet.I don't know enough to be useful fixing them evidently.'m at my wits end and ready to either take it in to MicroCenter to have them try and fix it or just buy a new NON-ATI graphics card to see if that fixes it.
I bought Windows 7 mainly for Media Centre, as my desktop PC has been my TV, DVD player, MP3 player etc for the last few years. I was running XP and upgraded last weekend to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.
I noticed first that the TV playback in WMC was skipping frames and very jerky, but then I realised that this was only in full screen. When I play it in a smaller window it is fine, then when I go fullscreen it is fine for around 20 secs, then a flicker happens and the problem starts again. If I change the channel, again it will be fine for some seconds, then same thing again.
I have noticed now tonight that when I playback movie files in Media centre there is the jerky frame skipping, but in Media player it is fine?????!!!! Also alot of times that I play either TV or Video files in WMC the screen is just full of lines and I have to close it down and reopen, sometimes several times in a row.
On top of this I've now realised that when I was watching online TV (Flashforward on Channel 5) the frame skipping is there too (Explorer 8).
Could this be to do with the onboard graphics? I thought 64MB was fine for windows 7.
Please help before I have some sort of fit from watching this jerky TV!!
When I am playing music in the media player, at first the sound is fine, but after awhile it begins to become choppy. And sometimes when streaming on the internet, the same thing happens but right away. It is not the speakers because the sound will start then stop, over and over. It is not the internet because this happens in media player which does not require the internet to run. I've updated and troubleshooted and nothing seems to help. I have an HP DV 9000, 64 bit, Windows 7 operating system.
When I open Windows Media Center - Internet TV is listed. On the windows website it shows that I should have that option. So, I assume I don't have something set up right.I have a TV tuner and I can record and watch TV just can't get to see the Internet TV channels.
I am running Windows 7 on a new computer with no TV tuner. I am unable to see Internet TV or Netflix in Windows Media Center. When I try the automatic download (Download Now) option, I get an error message that the Guide cannot be downloaded. After looking at these message boards, I have tried turning off my firewall before downloading and tried adding the Media Center programs to the allowed programs in my firewall application, but I still get the same errors.
I am building a Media Center PC. I have two questions relating to Windows Media Center:
1) I can watch TV via TV card, but can I watch TV from another source such as HDMI or AV from my satalite reciever or PS3?
2) Can WMC work with a dual monitor graphics card? I would like to transmit the media center screen via AV to monitors & speakers, while being able to use the PC for other use via VGA connection.
I used to run media centre wired and it worked fine. Trying to clean up cables running all over the place Ive tried wirelessly yet its almost to the point that it doesnt work at all as its incredibly slow and takes about a minute to react to controller input.Im running a TP-LINKTD-W8930N 300Mbps router.
I have been having a rather annoying issue for a while now. This mostly happens on start up and once desktop loads up either my USB mouse freezes or my keyboard doesn't work or sometimes BOTH. My keyboard is a PS/2 Keyboard. It seems the only solution when both freeze at the same time is to either restart the computer or unplug them and plug them back in. This morning when I booted it up my mouse immediately was frozen and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it is working. This error is very random and sometimes doesn't happen immediately on start up but while browsing the Internet a decent amount of time after start up. Another important thing I forgot to mention is I get NO blue screen or no error message it just stops working.
I was first using Windows 7 build ~7200, till it ran out of support and I did a fresh install with Windows 7 RTM OEM 64Bit Ultimate. Running it I started expiriencing the bug.
Videos stop randomly for ~1-2mins and get of sync in WMP; Firefox turns to "no reponse" and gets white after I clicked on a link. Clicking on another programm (the mouse is not freezing) makes the program stop to "no response". This also happens to the taskmanager, I've always opened on my second monitor.
After the freeze for ~1-2mins, everything continues normally. I thought something could be buggy with my Installtion and installed another Windows 7 Professional RTM 64Bit. Which I'm running now.
The some sort of this bug already happend without any drivers (running the pure OS), but I'm still not completely sure about it, if it's the same bug. I was sure it would go away with the fresh install and didn't, care I'm sorry.
Another issue:
Running WarCraft3 in windowed mode never took me down to 20fps, which is unplayable, it was ok as I had my new 24'' Monitor and tried to run it in window mode full screen on it to get down to 20-25fps on high grafics, but now it's 15-20fps really laggy on my laptopmonitor, which makes me think about my freeze bug.
Google couldn't help me, installing newest drivers and clean windows didn't help me.
I didn't install new software until that bug appeard, so I guess it's a new driver (because I couldn't find the old ones) or Windows 7 new onboard driver problem.
Memtest86+ ran for more than 8h this night, negative.
I have an other idea: Could it be the harddrive which locks up? Because everything continues normally (like the mouse) taskmanager still shows which process is taking most CPU capacity, but as soon as I perform an action, it locks up/freezes.
The harddrive is as old as the computer, which means about 3 years. What do you think? Could it be the harddrive? Should I try replacing it?
Quite frequently windows or a program will stop responding, locking up my computer. I was running a /verifyonly, and at 30% it stopped. A few minutes later the following error presented itself.
mcagent.exe - Application Error
The instruction at 0xe7bcdcd5 referred to memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read.
Recently I have been having this problem where my PS/2 keyboard and mouse both stop responding. The lights are still on, but neither work. Sometimes it happens just to my mouse, and not the keyboard, but usually both. When it happens, they are not responding for anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes (but by that point I restart the computer). If it happens just to the mouse, putting the computer to sleep using the keyboard and wakening it again fixes the problem.
I have tried to update the drivers in device manager by letting windows search for them online, but it says they are up-to-date. I also checked all the connections inside the computer, unplugging and re-plugging each one as well as air-dusting.
EDIT: If I can't find a fix, I think I will just purchase a USB mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather try fix the problem first.
As of lately my mouse and keyboard sometimes just stop working. It seems to happen more often while I'm playing games (but that's mostly what I do so not sure if that has anything to do with it ). Usually before it happens I'll hear the usb sound and the mouse will disconnect and reconnect and it'll work fine then just out of the blue it'll disconnect and that's that. I have to shutdown and restart. It only just started doing this a couple weeks ago. My mouse is a logitech UAE-96 (I think) and the keyboard is a microsoft ergonomic 4000, its an ASUS MoBo, I've checked keyboard drivers and they are up to date and I've also checked my usb drivers, also up to date.
I have installed Windows 7 Professional on my laptop and it has Media Center. But I can't see any way to access Netflix. Is Netflix support available on Windows 7 Media Center?
Netfix is shutting down Media Center when we try to watch a movie. It was working fine but this morning every time we try to access Netfix we get an error saying Media Center shutting down and restarting?
Have a Dell Vostro 3500 running Win 7 32 bit. When trying to view a pdf from within IE, it will attempt to open it with Windows Media Center. Adobe Reader has been installed, and when checking file assocaitions in Windows and IE, they are set to Adobe Reader. Now, if you save the pdf to the desktop, or some other location on the hard drive, it will then open with Adobe Reader as it should.
I have Asus 4550 video card The drivers are crashing in MCE very frequently ( Black screen and then BSOD and instant reboot so I can't even read the error) I tried driver that was optional in Windows 7 update, Catalyst 8.12, 9.1 and Windows 7 beta - they all behave the same way .
