Ok I have multiple monitors & like to watch movies while I do other things at the same time.Now I LOVE Media Center, I think its fantastic.But it locks down the monitor & mouse that it opens up on, not allowing me to do other things on my other monitors.
View 9 RepliesI am having some problems with media center. I have ripped my dvd to my harddrive (eSata) and uses My Movies to see the dvd's inside Media Center. But when I play the dvd's playback stops randomly and I need to re-start playback manually.VLC Player has no problem playing these files - only Media Center that is acting up? AHCI is activated.Can't locate PhysX setting in Nvidia settings, so I guess it is not enabled for my GPU.

Any suggestions for getting my mouse cursor to be visible in MC?
Edit: It seems using an external display (while using laptop) is part of the problem. Switching MC to windowed mode enables me to see the mouse. So just can't use full screen mode and see the mouse cursor. Weird.
I have Win 7 Ultimate x64 with two monitors. One monitor for working, and the other monitor for media center. I had a problem with the mouse pointers getting locked into media center and had to use the "Windows Logo" key to unlock the mouse pointer to get back to the main monitor. Since last Update Tuesday, the mouse is not only locked into the media center, but it disappears as well. Any click of the mouse in media center causes the mouse pointer to disappear. I have to precede every mouse action by first pressing the "Windows Logo". I have Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000. I had Microsoft Intelligent Point installed, but uninstalled it as a test. It made no difference at all. I've tried different themes of pointers, which also made no difference.

That is, the small coloured button on the left hand side of the screen, to the left of the Text TV button. Also, the two button to the left of the coloured button, I am grateful for any advice. My TV works just fine by the way, jsut that I like to know what option there is to use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my computer six months ago and never bothered with Windows Media Center. In order to see TV on my computer, I needed a TV tuner. Since I am a member with Netflix and Microsoft promoted Netflix working on the Center, I tried to use it without the tuner and just play media from my hard drive and Netflix but it did not work. The Netflix rep. said they had issues with it working with their software. In addition, the Microsoft tech. said I needed the tuner for it to work at all. Six months later, I get an email from Microsoft suggesting uninstalling software I do not use to improve the PC�s performance. Therefore, I decided to get rid of Windows Media Center never using it. However, I wanted to try it again and see if it could work now. To my surprise, it worked beautifully organizing the media from my hard drive and Netflix worked on it. I had to download software to get it working and I do not know what I downloaded but it seemed to work. Then, suddenly the screen went black with the white curser from my mouse the only thing I could see. I tried to reboot a minute later and I was able to log on but instead of going to the desktop, a black screen reappeared. I shut the computer down and waited 20 minutes before turning it on. After I logged in, Windows 7 opened to the desktop. Are there any issues with Windows Media Center and, can I operate it without a TV tuner or should I uninstall it since I do not plan to get the TV tuner?

Whenever mce2005 started up, media center automatically displayed on my tv screen rather than my pc monitor. With Windows 7 it seems to display on my PC monitor at startup, even though I have dragged it onto the tv screen the previous time I used it. Is there a way I can get it to start up on my tv screen but keep my PC monitor as my primary screen? My video card is an nVidia GeForce 7300LE
PS It's also time for a video card upgrade as live TV is very choppy - would people recommend ATI or nVidia?
Windows media center will not prevent the screen from shutting off when its suppose to. Is there some way to fix this other than changing the power settings for win 7 64bit.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am having an issue with media center through my Xbox 360 i am using a VGA cable to my Xbox and running it through a monitor everything is fine when i'm playing games and what not but when i open media center it has weird lines across the screen i have tried everything i can think of, i changed the resolution and it didn't have lines but obviously the picture wasn't quite right, change the resolution back to normal and the lines come back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLately when I run Windows Media Center and I'm watching live TV, the screen will just go black and the sound will stop. I can't get anything to come up on the monitor (goes into sleep mode), yet the hard drive is still going and power is on the pc. I have to power down the pc and reboot it. I have checked all my power settings and made sure they are good, I have the latest driver for my Nvidia graphics card.
I never had this problem and then began about a month ago and seemed to go away. Lately it is back. WMC will play live tv for about 10 minutes and then black screen. I have run malware and anti virus programs, nothing detected. Updated graphics card, pc isn't overheating. I have run out of ideas why WMC is going to a black screen. If I run just the pc, I have no problems, it's only when WMC is running.
When I boot my computer, I see "Starting Windows". The screen then goes black and the mouse pointer shows up in the middle. The mouse does not move.I inserted my Windows 7 disc and went into repair. I tried a restore and a repair. Nothing happened. I should note that also my mouse pointer was not functioning at this time, either. That is, the pointer was in the center and the mouse was not moving.I hear the fan going on, eventually it stops making noise, not to be confused with the computer shutting off. I guess you call that more of an "idle sound".I checked the connections. Unplugged and replugged in the mouse. No luck.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI play a game called starcraft 2, when playing this game you drag the mouse off the right side of the screen in order to move right. I just setup an extended desktop with one screen to the right of the primary.When playing this game and trying to move right the mouse just moves onto the extended screen. Is there a way to stop this happening so when I am running the game to lock the mouse into it so that it wont move across to the other screen (so I'd have to alt + tab the game to do so).

It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I've unchecked every option that seems to make it scan and update but it still does it.Basically I want to UNLINK the Windows Explorer Library from the WMP Library.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.

This DVD player is an external player and I have no problem with playback on my Dual boot with Vista Home Premium.

I can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am noticing a new problem that I didn't experience in build 7000 x64. Basically my the screen locks up but I am still able to use the mouse and do things but the screen doesn't update. For example Im running FL Studio, and I load some module, then the screen freezes. Now I can still play sounds, exit software etc but nothing changes on the screen, its like clicking on a picture and navigating by memory. Eventually, the cursor disappears and I am forced to restart by holding the power button.
As I said, I have did a clean install of 7100 x64 the only other change is that I am using the 171.81 nvidia drivers instead of the older ones.
My Main screen is locking up frequently. I am NOT a technical PC person, but what I have attempted in hopes of fixing the problem was to run a scan with my Kaspersky, ran a virus check and did a trouble shooter.
