View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was browsing a website and Norton Internet Security pops up saying that a Trojan has been blocked (I don't have a screenshot of it, but that's pretty much all it said). So I exited the website and told Norton to do a full system scan later that night and fell asleep. When I woke up, all it found were some tracking cookies, which it deleted. However, I now had a problem on my computer: all files in every folder will auto arrange themselves every time the folder is opened or refreshed. The same happens on the desktop. Auto arrange is not checked.
Inside folders, the default setting is always "View > Details" and "Sort by > Name > Ascending." The icons on the desktop are still medium, but they are arranged in an odd order, it seems to be alphabetical but in an odd way. I had all my desktop icons arranged in a specific way, so now it's hard to try and find programs that I need. It's also extremely difficult to find any files because of this setup too. To clarify, here's an example of what happens: I arrange the icons the way I want (here being by "Date Modified"), but... If the folder is refreshed or reopened, computer is restarted, etc, then the folder resets to this default.
Instead of auto arrange putting all of my icons on my desktop on the left, i want it to arrange them on the right. Is there a registry key that controls how auto-arrange works so that i can change it to arrange all of the icons on the right? how would i go about doing this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wonder if anybody can help me. I am running windows 7 with a 2 screen set up. My problem is if I leave my computer and it goes to 'sleep', very often the desk top icons rearrange themselves and the display goes to a duplicate (ie both screens displaying the same thing). I can reset it by gouing to control panel/adjust screen resoution, and clicking 'detect'. It also does this sometimes when I shut down the machine and re-start.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop that's set up with the background of an office with empty shelves, and I put my icons on the shelves to make it look cool. Due to this, I don't have my icons set to be aligned to any sort of grid, I just move them where I want, making it frustrating to move them back into place. Now, I notice that from time to time some of the icons or folders on my desktop will be out of the place I put them in, and will have moved themselves back to the place they were prior to moving them into the place I want them to be. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I notice it happens with icons and/or folders that have recently been updated or had something new put in them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Desktop with Windows 7. After I start the computer and leave it running for a while, (10 to 15min), it will automatically revert to the password screen. Also it won't go to screen saver. I have the screensaver set to not require password after waking. Also I have my power settings set to high performance. Also i have my Nic card configured so that it isn't allowed to be turned off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe're just starting to get Windows 7 clients (on Win 7 Pro x64 right now) on our work network and we've noticed that video streams and downloads seem to randomly stop moments after we start them.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI do that:
1. Uninstall driver
2. remove what left with driver sweeper
3. Reboot and try to install new driver BUT Windows 7 automatically find their stock driver for 7600GT and installs it, damn it.
Maybe I don't need to do that anymore?
So, my question is:
What are the proper way to update video card drivers in windows 7?
I installed Ventrilo on my computer a few days ago, and I believe the installation wizard installed more than once. Now every time I start my computer, I get a message asking me to install it. I even tried uninstalling then original Ventrilo App and following the wizard to install again, but after I restart my computer, the message for install, still pops up. As well, after I toggle cancel another install box pops up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not being able to install/copy files from an ISO image.I have tried almost every program that I could find on net like demon tools lite, alchoal 120%, power ISO, magic iso, clone disk and alomst every soft of this area but whenever I mount that Image and start copying files from there it fails in the middle stating "disk is not ready" and naturally the copying process is aborted. and when I go check there that ISO image is automatically unmounted from the virtual driver. P.S: that ISO image was burned by my cousin and it actually holds some video files of a marriage ceremony. it worked completly fine with other pcs (having same OS). only it's mine one which is being this weird. and for some reasons I can't even re-install my window 7. and it's not the only ISO image having problem but some others as well are getting me to the same error ending up in the middle with the same error and getting dismounted automatically. everything else in this OS is working perfectly fine. so please is there any soultion I can copy files from that ISO file?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy pc is only a few months old But, for some unknown reason every time I go to the internet explorer & choose a site to find information no matter which site. It closes down & goes all the way back to my screen saver. (This can do it from the 1st 30 seconds to maybe upto 2 mins) loosing that site & having to re-type the whole thing back in all over again. I have tried all over the place trying to find solutions to this . But to no avail. I do not have my browser history either that seems to have disappeared as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem started 7 months ago, but it was minor. Mostly, while gaming, in the main menu, the PC just shuts down. Sometimes it gives me " Stop errors". The last STOP error was 0X0000007F. I've updated BIOS and the Graphics Driver.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.

Also, I can find NO way of allowing me to put say a photo anywhere I wish, except on my desktop-which still works fine. If I try to take a photo out of sequence it just does not let me move it to another place, UNLESS I am putting it into a folder!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been looking around for something that can hide my desktop icons (or basically anything except my background & bottom navigation bar) if I'm not viewing the desktop. In other words, when I have a (not full screen) window open, I want to be able to see my desktop background but not the icons on it. When I "view" the desktop, or don't have anything on top of it, I want the icons back.
