I have a new Windows 7 laptop. I want to have the dual boot with XP. I'm using the following link to set dual boot: Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP. I have XP CD & I'm now trying to install XP first, to be able to use Method-1 (When XP is Installed First)

But once it reaches installing XP, I get the Blue Screen:

Blue Screen With Stop Error 0x00000124

Sep 8, 2012

I've been intermittently getting blue screens with the stop error 0x00000124, which the internet told me is either a driver or hardware issue. I've run memtest for 5 passes on both sticks of RAM and there were no errors. I do overclock my CPU, but my system is water cooled and the temp is always stable. In addition when not overclocked I still will get a blue screen sometimes. Here are my specs.

OS - Windows 7
x64
Windows 7 (Custom Build)
Not OEM
1-2 years old
1 year. I re-install Windows every so often for tidiness.

CPU: Intel i7 2600k
Video Card: EVGA Nvidia GTX 570 Super Overclocked
Motherboard: Intel Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
Power Supply: Antec TruePower Quattro 850W

The zip with the jcgriff2 report is too big for the upload limit. So I uploaded it here: [URL]

Blue Screen Of Death Errors Continue After Restoring Factory Settings?

Aug 18, 2012

I got the occasional blue screen of death before, so I reset to factory settings. It didn't help, and may have made the issue even worse, though I haven't used the computer much since I just got a laptop. I have windows 7 64 bit. I had gotten the haplii virus (which redirects my google searches to a different site, it later changed to link to a different site instead) and failed to remove that completely, so I am not sure if that could be causing it or no.

Blue Screen Errors - Computer Shutting Down To Avoid Damage After Sleep Mode

Aug 1, 2012

I keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?

Blue Screen - STOP: C0000221 Unknown Hard Error

Jan 24, 2009

Yea, said my pc was troubled... a very clean cut gentleman he was, plain blue suit with a little name tag in the upper left hand corner i believe his agent code name was

Code: STOP: c0000221 Unknown Hard Error SystemRootSystem32

tdll.dll He gave me the option of taking a dose of Startup Repair, which he recommended, or to just try things normally and maybe it would work. I chose to take the dose.

It was scary at first i admit... at first i was told that this could take up to an hour to fix and take affect, even restarting my system a few times possibly.

All in all to my delightment, the dose took less than a minute to take affect and fix my blues...... well, so far atleast

Blue Screen At Start Up After Installing Drivers

Jan 30, 2013

I am experiencing problems with my computer. I'm building a new rig, but have not got it finished yet, so I'm trying to use my Compaq Presario until I have the final pieces to my new rig. I popped in my GPU and tried to boot into Windows 7 one day, after having used Ubuntu for three weeks straight, now I get a blue screen at start up, when I have the GPU in, that says I should try to reset the device display [it goes too fast for me to catch anything else].

Safe mode works, but I have no internet connection to be able to download anything that I might need. I also checked the device manager through Safe Mode and my GPU is update to date. I'll post the log files and the GPU at the end. The card was working before, so I'm not sure what happened. Here are some things I tried via online searching including this forum:

Reinstall Windows completely
Uninstall NVIDIA drivers, reboot, and reinstall
Not update GPU drivers
Switching the BIOS to my GPU slot
GPU: GeForce Sparkle 6600 LE 256mb

Report file:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name:BlueScreen
OS Version:6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID:1033

The other file is a dmp file and an xml file I have no idea how to open. If they are needed I saved a copy to a USB and will upload to mediafire.

Repeated STOP:0X00000124 Errors?

Aug 30, 2009

I'm getting this error repeatedly right now. System will run for anywhere upto an hour before BSOD or just a crash and reboot. I was reading a magazine about an hour ago with the computer on and watched as the thing crashed and rebooted 4 times in 30 minutes. I'm at my wits end with this. Was happening with vista too which is why i downloaded the RC for Win 7 after doing a vista reinstall and everything else i could think of to solve the problem.I installed RC about 3 weeks ago with no problems for about a day then it'd happen once a day or so now though it's happening a couple of times an hour.Thinking it was a graphics card problem i updated my drivers but no luck, then switched out my ATi Radeon HD4650 for a Radeon X1650 but no change, just worse graphics on WoW.

Can someone please tell me first what STOP:0X00000124 errors are and how to actually diagnose them or even better how to fix themHere's the details i get offered on the latest crash after reboot.[CODE]

BSOD - Multiple With Different STOP Errors?

Feb 4, 2012

I have been trying to resolve some BSOD I got on my PC. To do this I also re-installed windows several times. I build and install everything by myself for years, but this is the first PC with a lot of BSODs. I used the Debugging Tool for windows to check the minidumps by myself, but as far as my knowledge goes, I didn't find anything special in there. The only thing that was obvious was that in all BSODs the ntoskrnl.exe was involved. This was something BlueScreenView revealed also. In my opinion however it seems there is more to it, since the ntoskrnl.exe could probably also crash because of another driver or hardware problem. On my previous fresh Windows 7 Install I did found out once that alot of BSOD I had at that time were caused by a bad Creative driver for my X-Fi. On the web I found a useful hint, because other X-Fi users pointed to the beta-drivers for the card. The official Creative drivers are almost two years older then these beta drivers, so obviously the beta drivers should be the first choice. These drivers are the ones I use now. I also had some problem with my OCZ Vertex 3 MI, like most owners of this hardware, and the problem was the unstable firmware. I am using the latest firmware now, which is 2.15, and that made the system alot more stable. The third problem is happening in POST: my logitech G110 keyboard features an USB hub and connection for media. These kind of USB keyboards had some problem with recognision and initialisation in the UEFI BIOS. For that I also updated to the latest BIOS for my motherboard.

All in all you can see I discovered and tried to fix a lot of different causes for BSODs. I also ran memtest once on the system for two hours, but this was in Dual Channel setup. Didn't gave any errors anyway. The latest minidump is created by the use of Verifier. I turned verifier on to test the two drivers for my AMD HD6970(crossfired). After 5 minutes in windows the BSOD appeared. I am using AMD Catalyst 12.1 drivers. I tried this, because the BSODs all are different then the ones I had on previous Windows 7 installations (on the same pc), but the only thing I changed in the current installation, was the AMD 12.1 drivers.I reinstalled windows about two weeks ago, after using Secure Erase on my SSD. I installed only the latest drivers for all the things that need drivers. The complete installation, including windows updates and drivers, was without any fault. One day later the first BSOD appeared, etc. I use the system to play Battlefield 3 only, since the fresh install. Strangely, I played more then 50 hours in the game, without any crash or BSOD! The new AMD FX-8150 processor is the first to support native 1866 MHz DDR3. The motherboard specification showed that the board supported 1866 (OC), thus it's seen as an overclock. I set all settings in bios like the ram specificiation told, which is: 9-11-9-27 2T @1.65V. Still, it could be that the 1866 MHz is too much on standard NB voltages? It's something I couldn't find an answer to on the internet, and since I never overclock I don't have that much experience with the voltages.

All BSODs happened in different situations, like just after windows log in, or when I start a program, or when idling, or when browsing the internet.Since I couldn't figure out any more usefull details out of the minidumps, I hope someone here with more experience could check the attached files.

Blue Screens Errors: Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area / Driver_IRQL_Less_or_not_less_equal

Nov 12, 2009

I've been getting blue screens for awhile now, but they seem to be becoming more frequent, to the point where I can't really deal with it anymore. I built the system myself about a year ago, and the blue screens were few and far between at first.

Typically they are Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area, or Driver_IRQL_Less_or_not_less_equal errors, but every now and then I'll get a video memory manager crash. They happen mostly when I'm running a game, or have multiple videos open. Windows always boots right back up cleanly, and runs fine until the next error occurs.

Sometimes the problem doesn't get as bad as a full system crash, and something smaller will occur, like a game will lock up and kick me back to the desktop, or the flash plugin will crash while I'm browsing and I'll have to reload any videos i was watching.

I'm running the Win7 64 bit Ultimate Release client right now, but when i first built the system I was on vista. The problems have been the same on both OS'es. Common sense and a few quick google searches have suggested that it's either my RAM or my graphics card, so for RAM i'm running 2x2gb sticks of OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066 Dual Channel, and my graphics card is an Asus EAH4850 Radeon PCI-E with 512mb.

Getting BSOD Errors After Installing Windows 7 On Laptop?

Aug 1, 2012

Just kind of confused about the BSOD errors. Just installed Windows 7 last night to this laptop and I immediately started getting them. I tried getting debugging tools to read the .dmp files, but that just wasn't working. Then I tried working with BlueScreenView and I accessed all the .dmp files that I've acquired, six in total. Each seemed to have different files highlighted red, though I noticed one file that all of them had been highlighted red; NT Kernel & Systems. My only guess to fix this problem would be to just reinstall Windows, or would there be an easier way to fix this problem?

Stuck At Booting Windows 7 Due To Errors In Installing

Sep 16, 2012

I was going to going to reinstall windows 7 professional x64 version of windows in my laptop but during installation I got structed at the point where the earlier partitions are to be deleted and new ones are to be made(I got the option from custom install) to give the path for new C:// drive and others. Here is the basic of problem, the installation was taking very long time to delete my earlier partitions(nearly 30 mins.). So I derectly pressed the power button and shut down (while the deletion of earlier C:// drive was going on) my laptop eject the DVD on next boot, but now nothing was appearing after booting. So I again tried to do the same installation but this time the installation was stucked at the windows icon ('Starting Windows' Icon).

Stop Windows 7x64 From Installing Drivers

I want to use Realteck as my for default sound, so when I go to device manager and uninstall the ati hd audio drivers they get deleted, but when I reboot my pc windows 7 reinstalls the ati hd drivers. How can I stop windows 7 from reinstalling the ati hd drivers. The reason I don't want two well really three sets of audio drivers because the cards are crossfired windows 7 is installing two sets of ati hd sound drivers one for each video card and the Realteck drivers, is because windows 7 is crashing when gaming and I think the sound drivers are conflicting and causing the crashes

Windows 7 - How To Stop HID Compliant Keyboard From Installing

When I plug any USB mouse in, Windows 7 installs the HID Compliant Mouse drivers, but it also installs them as HID Compliant Keyboard at the same time. This is causing problems where all mouses stop working until reboot. The biggest problem is that after I uninstall the HID Compliant Keyboard from Device Manager, windows will automatically re-install it at seemingly random intervals.

Mouse And Keyboard Stop Working When Installing Windows

Aug 31, 2012

I bought a SSD, installed it, installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Got into windows and everything was fantastic. Installed all the windows updates, video card drivers, ect... Then rebooted the computer and lo and behold, it doesn't recognize the SSD as a valid boot device anymore. Assuming that the install corrupted somehow, I decided to run startup repair on the Windows 7 disk. However once the disk gets past "Windows is loading files" all the lights on my mouse and keyboard shut off and they stop working. However up until that point they work fine, if I go into BIOS they work no problem. I have no idea what the issue is... I literally JUST used this same disk to install windows 7 and had no issues less than 30 minutes ago... The only advice I've been able to find thus far has been to ensure that legacy USB settings are enabled, and they are. Also, if I boot into windows on a different drive that has the OS installed my mouse and keyboard work just fine in windows as well. As it stands now I cannot fix my windows install or even reinstall windows...However up until that point they work fine, if I go into BIOS they work no problem. I have no idea what the issue is..
