Unable To Access HTTPs Or Secure Sites
Jul 1, 2012All three of my browsers (Firefox, Comodo & IE) show up as blank pages. I can access all other sites, except when the URL has an Https on it. Using netstat i saw that port #443 was not in a listening state, yet none of my firewalls, (comodo antivirus, Windows firewall or peerblock) seem to be blocking the port.I am fairly new at this and i cannot restore to a later date as i do not know when this actually started up, and i cannot restore as i have data on this PC that i need, and am unable to backup into any other form.

However, and since I have a small home network, this causes me some doubts in what concerns both the security of the information being transmited over the Internet and the internal security of my LAN. Is it really safe to use Remote Desktop through IP? What encryption protocols/algorithms are used? And how much are other computers in my LAN protected?

Nov 8, 2012ive been having some trouble with my language bar. i can see the back on my desktop, but as soon as i left click on the icon (to change settings/change languages) the pop-up menu only appears for about 0.5 of a second and then disappears.

The safe mode options screen keeps looping, and i am unable to boot. none of the safe mode options work, though the screen shows the loading windows files before restarting the safe mode options screen again. when i press f8 to get the advanced boot options, the system repair option is no longer there (it was there yesterday, but the system restore or system repairs didn't work), nor do any of the advanced boot options work.when i choose to disable automatic restart on system failure it appears that windows is startingbut then goes to a blue screen that says STOP: C0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing.I believe this is happening as a result of an automatic Windows update.

Nov 17, 2011i recieved my new lenovo z570 ideapad yesterday...i'll just put some of the spec down incase you want to know.
proccessor: intel i5 (second gen)
graphics: nvidia geforce
os: windows 7 64bit
yadayadayada...
anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!

Recently I opened the folder and the look has changed. On the general tab I no longer see "home page", "temporary internet files", etc. I only see, browsing history and appearance options. I wanted to change my home change in the address box, but it doesn't appear. How can I change it back to the way it use to look? I've scanned my laptop for potential viruses using AVG-anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware....both came up clean.

This happened on my last pc also.I am using IE9, 9.0.8112.16421. 64bit. update 9.0.5 (KB2647516)The pc has McAfee pre installed but no other similar anti virus software etc.Using Windows 7, SP1 Home Premium 64 bitI have now tried disabling add ons. Windows says all add ons are disabled but in internet options they were in fact ENabled. I disabled each one. "Apply" is still greyed out.I ran the MS "Fix It" tool but no luck. I reset internet explorer but no luck I downloaded IE9 from the links provided but the download could not be completed as the PC I have has a later version....so still no luck I'm afaid! This is very perculiar indeed. This happened on my last pc......which I can still use and I'm trying to see if there is commom which I may have done to both but nothing comes to mind.
