View 2 Replies View RelatedI following the thread for past conversations on this issue of the desktop appearing right in the middle of my working on a program - typing, moving from place to place on the screen or just when it's sitting idle. I did not see any solution that worked for the problem. Is Microsoft aware of it and is there a known remedy at this point. It is extremely frustrating to have it transition when I'm working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows 7 os using mozilla firefox browser. I created a shortcut on my desktop to access Internet Options. It was working fine for a while. Recently I opened the folder and the look has changed. On the general tab I no longer see "home page", "temporary internet files", etc. I only see, browsing history and appearance options. I wanted to change my home change in the address box, but it doesn't appear. How can I change it back to the way it use to look? I've scanned my laptop for potential viruses using AVG-anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware....both came up clean.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe apply button in Internet options is grayed out, so I cannot save changes. So I cannot save any setting changes. This happened on my last pc also.I am using IE9, 9.0.8112.16421. 64bit. update 9.0.5 (KB2647516)The pc has McAfee pre installed but no other similar anti virus software etc.Using Windows 7, SP1 Home Premium 64 bitI have now tried disabling add ons. Windows says all add ons are disabled but in internet options they were in fact ENabled. I disabled each one. "Apply" is still greyed out.I ran the MS "Fix It" tool but no luck. I reset internet explorer but no luck I downloaded IE9 from the links provided but the download could not be completed as the PC I have has a later version....so still no luck I'm afaid! This is very perculiar indeed. This happened on my last pc......which I can still use and I'm trying to see if there is commom which I may have done to both but nothing comes to mind.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning Win7 and certain programs do not display options. For example... if I run msconfig.... it pops up but there's nothing there... just a blank GUI... If I try to install a program... the install wizard pops up... but it's just a blank GUI... same with Task Manager. I can run CMD though. I tried to run a Outlook export and the export wizard is also just a blank GUI. And then in Chrome when I try to browse websites it's like 90% of the CSS doesn't work. I think I might have a virus but Kaspersky couldn't find any issues... I also tried some online scanners. I want to install some more serious software but I can't get through the wizards because the options don't exist.

I found a utility called "Pangolin Screen Brightness" that allows you to do it manually, so I know it's possible, but can't find anything that can add that option to the power settings.
My computer just shut itself down on its own last night.Upon restart all I get is an HP screen that says hit esc. to go to startup menu, and it takes me to a screen with like 5 different options. If you don't hit esc at the beginning it goes to a black screen with a white line looks like a cursor line.

Windows 7 SP1 NTFS..I'm trying to create an image as I did with Norton's Ghost in XP and later when I used Norton's Save & Restore in Vista where the entire contents on my C: drive was backed up.In Windows7 Backup & Restore it's a little ambiguous where it saves in steps. I've viewed all options which are: I selected " Create an Image" on the left side of the first dialog box. This gives me these selections which are pre-selected and can not be changed: I don't want to do incremental backups where data is added automatically later. All I want is a one time only backup which creates an image of my entire C: with... Program Files, Registry, System Files, Boot sector, Partition table, etc..
