View 2 Replies View RelatedI have accidentally blocked myself out of my C Drive while I am the administrator, I cannot get access to my C Drive or any files or games, change settings and even not being able to use the System Restore function, it keeps on popping up with Access Denied, Error Code: 0x800704b3 and I even cannot click on Run as Administrator.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I click on hyperlink (Windows 7) it says I need to have the administrator (me) grant permission. I have not been able to find a point at which I can do that. Where can I change that setting?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to run certain programs like Anki or Second Life that need access to the internet they're blocked with no message from windows, I've tried deactivating windows firewall and other security programs but I always get the same thing. I've tried creating rules for windows firewall that allow my programs to access the internet but it makes no difference. I know it's not my router or ISP because other computers in my house that use the same connection work fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to restrict internet access to windows 7 administrator account. JUDGE ORDERED THIS. PROBATION OFFICER NEEDS TO BE SHOWN. I have a computer savvy kid. Is there any foolproof way to do this? I changed my security network key. Somehow he figured it out. It is becoming a "You can't limit my access" power stuggle even though the stakes are high. He needs his computer for homework and writing assignments or I would just take it away.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows 7 os using mozilla firefox browser. I created a shortcut on my desktop to access Internet Options. It was working fine for a while. Recently I opened the folder and the look has changed. On the general tab I no longer see "home page", "temporary internet files", etc. I only see, browsing history and appearance options. I wanted to change my home change in the address box, but it doesn't appear. How can I change it back to the way it use to look? I've scanned my laptop for potential viruses using AVG-anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware....both came up clean.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe apply button in Internet options is grayed out, so I cannot save changes. So I cannot save any setting changes. This happened on my last pc also.I am using IE9, 9.0.8112.16421. 64bit. update 9.0.5 (KB2647516)The pc has McAfee pre installed but no other similar anti virus software etc.Using Windows 7, SP1 Home Premium 64 bitI have now tried disabling add ons. Windows says all add ons are disabled but in internet options they were in fact ENabled. I disabled each one. "Apply" is still greyed out.I ran the MS "Fix It" tool but no luck. I reset internet explorer but no luck I downloaded IE9 from the links provided but the download could not be completed as the PC I have has a later version....so still no luck I'm afaid! This is very perculiar indeed. This happened on my last pc......which I can still use and I'm trying to see if there is commom which I may have done to both but nothing comes to mind.
View 8 Replies View RelatedA little background and info: I support a number of people who for one reason or another need to be able to do things a local admin can do like install programs and start services (or more accurately allow a program they're running to start a service). All users are in the local administrators group. The local admin account is enabled (and renamed) so that we as administrators have local access when the machine comes in for service. The machines are joined to a AD domain so that we can control a lot of the security via GPO. Everything worked fine in XP.
We are getting a few different "you do not have permission" errors. When the user tries to run OpenAFS (which starts a service) they get a "you do not have permission" error. There is no way around this error.
Also, when the users try to run Lotus Notes they get a "you do not have permission" error. When we go into compatibility mode and check the "run as administrator" (or just right click and "run as administrator) it works fine, but they have to click the elevated privileges. The program was installed while logged in as the user.
Again, all users are members of the local administrators group. When the local admin account logs in all these programs run fine. This behavior started in Vista and I chalked it up to "vista sucks". Windows 7 so far seems to be great, except that like in vista, members of the local administrators group are not really local administrators. How do I make them true local administrators?
I use an old XP app (JetToolbar - available at JetToolBar - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com) and do not want to change but I cant make it work on Windows 7. The application installs and starts up just fine but it is not possible to drag icons/programs/files to the toolbar - I just get the 'no entry' sign (Circle with line through)However, the application runs fine when logged on to the hidden Administrator account. If I set up the application in the hidden Admin account and then log on as a normal admin user and run it from that account, the icons I set up are just not visible. So what do I have to change in my normal user account (member of administrators) to make this drag and drop work?I have tried 'Run as administrator' but that made no difference. Ive read about dropping to 'Run as User' apps from 'Run as Admin' apps but that's not the problem (at least problem occurs when app is run as user or run as admin)
