View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop crashed on shut down. When I turned it on again, it took me to system recovery and started reinstalling everthing. I left it to run overnight. In the morning, I was presented with a logon screen to select the users. There are two, one is administrator, the 2nd is "other user" (for new user I am guessing), if I click administrator, there is a problem that says "You have been locked out, contact your administrator" and if i click other user, it will make me type in username and password, but i have not created such thing. I then restart the system, it says "Preparing windows for first use" and brings me back to the logon screen again with the option of choosing the same users. In between all that, I remember coming across an error saying "please logon as administrator to complete installation". I can't logon as adminstrator as its been locked/disabled.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed Office 2007 on my Windows 7 (64 bit) HP laptop. It runs great, and everything works great. However with Windows 7 there's seemingly no way to pin New Microsoft Office Document and Open New Microsoft Document to the Start Menu. And what was Microsoft's logic (think) in this regard? And more importantly...how can I put those items on the Start Menu?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently have moved some of my users documents to a newer server from our old server. This caused no real issues and was quite easy to manage. After the move on one particular system, I updated the document library to make sure it was pointing to the new location on the new server, made the files available offline, and let it synchronize. After the synchronization was complete, there were no issues. However, when they try to attach a file to either an email or to a web form through Internet Explorer, the document library from the 'Attach a file' window is still pointing to the old location. When I try to point that library to the new location, it says the folder isn't indexed, although I can have the library open in a windows explorer window and show that it is indexed and in the library. Is there any way I can have the library updated in both Windows and Internet Explorer?
The system is currently running Windows 7 Professional 32Bit.It was running Internet Explorer 8 when the error first appeared, but I updated to Internet Explorer 9 and it is still not working correctly. This is the only system where it is acting like this, I have checked other identical systems that have had this file switch done as well.
Every time I try to attach a photo or doc to an email using either Yahoo, Comcast or whatever browser, the system freezes and crashes. I called Microsoft and spent over an hour with one of their techs, and he got it to work for about a week, now it's doing it again
View 1 Replies View RelatedSecondly, I'm having a few problems. I recently purchased a new laptop and was transferring files from the old ones hard drive using an enclosure. I somehow deleted my Videos and Documents sections on my new laptop. I can't paste anything, or move anything into these locations. I also can't create a new folder without getting a File System Error (512).
When I look at the properties of them, I can see that only the "public" locations are visible (Already tried resetting defaults by the way). I took a snap shot of the comparison between the music and video properties. How do I get that other location back?
My Windows 7 pro x64 system will not play the "Print Complete" sound after printing a document.I get the pop-up saying that the print job has completed, just like it did with Win XP. However, the sound is not played. The sounds applet in control panel has the "Print Complete" sound defined correctly and the Test button plays the sound. So I do not have an audio problem, and the .wav file is not blocked.I have looked for any options that could control the sound, but have not found any.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am the sole owner and user of my laptop. When I first set it up, I established 3 'User Accounts' in the Control panel. One account - the one I would be using most frequently - I set up with 'System Administrator' privileges. The other 2 accounts are for guests, and do not have 'SysAdmin' privileges. My problem is that fairly often, I get a pop-up box that says "You require System Administrator privileges to perform this action." This happens when I am trying to make room on my remote HDD by deleting an old backup. It seems that the operating system does not recognize my 'account' - or any other account for that matter - as having "System Administrator" privileges. How can I correct this problem? Using Win7-Home Premium on an HP dv7 laptop.

Basically my cousin accidentally thought my new computer was his.. and he set it up all in his name and what not (lets go with the name STEVE).. I basically have changed the names of the login Everytime I goto Network..then click on BOB (let's just say that's my name), I see two things listed. Under Users.MY stupid cousin's name (STEVE) and then "public." When I try and change the folder's name to MY name (Bob), I always get this message:You need permission to perform this action You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder.I've already gone to control panel, User Accounts, changed the name to BOB and made it the Administrator.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWith my Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop(fully updated) I have issues with copy and paste. When I copy text from a file/document and then paste it into another file/document I have one of three things happen. One it will copy the text correctly, though if I press enter to go to a new line its as if the clipboard was emptied because I cannot paste again, two it will not paste anything as if I didn't copy before, or three it will paste a screenshot of what is currently on my screen into the document. If it does copy and paste correctly then when I open a new file or folder, the clipboard will empty so I can't paste the same thing into two different documents unless both documents were open when I fist copied the text. This issue also occurs whe trying to copy/cut files and move them to a new/different directory(if the paste location is not already open then the clipboard appears to empty).
