Whenever I search in Windows 7, I want to have the ability to open found folders in a new window. If I r-click, that option is not there. Is there a way to add this to Windows 7?
Also: When I go to 'open file location', the file's folder opens in the same window - highly annoying. In Vista, it opens in a new window. Anyway to change this behvior in Windows 7 to act like Vista, so the file opens in a new window?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the past, I have had to use the built-in Administrator account to install Microsoft's virtualization software and install Windows XP Mode (I don't know why it wouldn't install before, I even disabled UAC with failed results). In order to do this, I enabled the Administrator account via Command Prompt, as recommended by a tech support specialist I used the command "net user administrator /active yes" and the Admin account was active, I installed the program, disabled the Administrator account, and went on my merry way.
It is now about a year later and after I have created a system image of my computer (I only made one because I do not have enough sufficient storage to make multiple ones, or even replace my current one) I have found out that there is an issue with command prompt or something... I unfortunately do not know. I had to reactivate the Administrator account for one reason or another and did my business, but after I reactivated it I came to find that the same command to activate the Administrator account... Changed its password. I used a Linux Live CD with Ophcrack to find out that the password for my Admin account was changed to "yes". And after I tried to disable the account, INSTEAD of it being disabled, the password was set to "no" hence "net user administrator /active no". I decided to experiment on the matter with other accounts, and typing in other words besides "yes" or "no" and I found that the net user command will change the password of any account. This is disturbing to me and also, I would like to easily enable or disable any account without changing any passwords.
I have a problem running a task with Task Scheduler. The task doesn't run. I have to debug it. When I try to make it run from the app a message appears on a command line message, but it appears and disappears so quickly that I can't read it. To fix the problem I need to read it to know what is going on.Can someone please tell me how to stop that command line window message from closing, please?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn windows XP, I used to be able use "ALT + E + S" to programmatically grab the contents of a command window. This does not work in Windows 7. When you right click on the title, the "Edit" selection no longer has the "E" underlined, indicating the shortcut key to use.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn these back on?

The person who answered my question gave a link to a Kioskea tutorial, which I followed and while it did fix the issue, it brought up a new one: All .exe files open with Command Prompt, so I have to type the filename itself before it will open.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know there's a way to add a "Open command window here" when you click ON a folder... but what I'm curious about is if there's a way to do that if you're IN a folder. It never made sense to me, if I want to run a command-line utility like ffmpeg on a file, to have to go up a folder, click that option, then enter the folder again. I know MS Office Groove added an option there, so theoretically couldn't there also be one for command prompt? I know if you right-click on the desktop while holding Shift, the option shows up, but ONLY on the desktop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I downloaded a firmware for my Canon. I was suppose to drag it to desktop. It was a exe file, then I choose to open it with winrar. This action messed up my whole computer. Every exe file has a little icon of winrar and can't open and said corrupted. Some will open but then ask what program to open and I have to chose the icon. Bottom line, I can't even open system restore. Click on system restore and it asked me what program to open. Can't even open command prompt. It ask for what program to open.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently received a new computer at work with Windows 7 loaded on it. In the upper right-hand corner of any window, there is a pushpin icon beside the minimize icon. I can use this to pin any open window so that it always stays on top. I didn't realize that this feature is available on Windows 7, and it is not visible on my Windows 7 installation at home (this is an office computer). How to activate it?
