Can't open any programs cuz this annoying window "Open with" pops up asking what application I want to open this file with? If I go browse and select the file (i.e. IE) then another window opens asking if I want to run, save or cancel. When I hit Run.... windows close and nothing happens. Pretty much dead in the water here. Tried recovery to an older config...

I'm Running Windows 7(64bit)Each time I boot into Windows 7 Prem (64) a open window apears requesting my username at the top of the open window to specify a a program to open it?I've clicked on note pad and I get the following information that apears, each time though it requests, or looks for a program to use to open.

When I open the magnifier a blank window appears. This occurs in both the "lens" and "docked" mode. Full Screen mode seems to be OK.

A friend of mine reommended I download Combofix as he thought this would resolve issue...it hasnt. What I have noticed, is that for the past few days, if I have tried to open firefox, it has come up with error that its already open, but if I wait a few seconds, it works fine. The firefox prob happened once before and I hate to delete out a profile and bugger around with with another setting, but I cant remember what I did. ANother thing I have noticed, is when an app does eventually open, after about a minute, it states its not responding up the top, but then it disappears and app seems fine. If you try to use arrow keys to scroll down, it hesitates sometimes also....

However, some apps open and some apps don't. Those that do open, when left clicked on for a menu item, the app closes.Although an app opens it is not functional. The only way to restore normalcy is to hard close the computer and reboot, then everything is OK.

After going past the first screen - you know the little one, where you can choose how you want to load it and such - well if i choose to load it in a window it doesn't load. I click play and a small black box quickly comes on and off the screen and then nothing happens. And if i highlight the icon on the taskbar it shows a picture of oblivion working fine. View 3 Replies View Relatedproblem is that when i go to microsoft word or powerpoint or excel, i press the "open" button and nothing happens. absolutely nothing as in no window will pop up that has the c: drive similar to when you run windows explorer or anything. i should add that windows explorer still works, its just using the "open" or "browse" button that nothing happens. This also happens in other programs as well i just cant think of them at the moment. The problem seemed to start one day when i was playing a computer game and i was also using deskspace (for organization) what happened was that the game switched to a completely seperate desktop and changed one of the desktop wallpapers. if you dont know deskspace is a virtual desktop manager that organizes it like a cube (cube desktop is better but i cant get it to let me change the icons on each desktop which completely defeats the purpose for me. Deskspace is somewhat similar to compiz for anyone who knows about that program for linux. So back to the problem after that i went to change the wallpaper back to what it was before, and i pressed the "browse" button and nothing happened. I didnt really think much of it until i tried to use word today and pressed "open" and nothing happened. from there i tried various programs and none seemed to work.

"explorer /separate" " which we used to remotely connect to network drives which normal users dont have access to (drives with applications, updates, drivers etc.). View 3 Replies View RelatedI am always manipulation files between several folders so I have several iterations of Windows Explorer open when my computer boots up and showing the contents of the folders that I manipulate all the time. Using XP files moved or copied into another folder always appeared at the bottom of the explorer window and that was good because although they were out of alphabetical order I always knew where to find the new files in the explorer window. They would stay at the bottom until I clicked 'Refresh' or changed the focus to another folder or shut down that explorer. Windows 7 explorer behaves differently and places new files in alphabetical order. Is there a way it can be changed so that new files show at the bottom of the explorer window?
